My wife and I returned home last week after 5 enjoyable days at Meadowlark. So much fun to talk with Kurt, Richard and the guests at breakfast and around the beautiful heated pool. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed and Maria does a great job of keeping them clean as well as serving outstanding breakfasts. The resort is set in mountain woodlands but is only a short drive into Calistog or to many of the surrounding wineries. I don't know why anyone would stay anywhere else while visiting Calistoga.

Meadowlark is a lovely sanctuary. The grounds are landscaped with beautiful perennials, the mineral pools are pristine, the horses are friendly and the hosts and staff are generous and a joy to engage with. We stayed 2 nights and felt remarkably rested and rejuvenated. Maria's breakfast was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Kurt and Richard (plus their dog Sparky). Meadowlark is a very special place. Every detail at Meadowlark is thoughtful and tasteful. We will be back.

My Fiancé and I chose Meadowlark for our stay in the Napa Valley area. Located 4-5 minutes from the Main Street of Calistoga, it is a convenient location to tons of wineries and 25 minutes or so from both St Helena and Santa Rosa. The Meadowlark is as described, a set of country houses with uniquely designed and decorated rooms. Owners Kurt and Richard have developed this property over a number of years and take great pride in providing an excellent experience for their guests. Our room had a fireplace available for the wintertime and plenty of available windows and back doors for the more mild weather months. The AC worked great if you want that as well. The bathroom was large and airy with a huge tube and whirlpool type capability if you so desire. There is a small refrigerator and iron/iron board if you need those items as well. Each day when breakfast is served, Kurt and Richard mingle with the guests while serving breakfast and chatting with everyone. Breakfast is different everyday and if you have special dietary request they will do their best to accommodate you. The grounds provide for leisure and relaxation. Their history of involvement in the equestrian world is well represented in both decorations and the horses that are on the property. Chickens maintained and cared for provide your eggs for breakfast. Stroll through the grounds and take time to enjoy the area. The warm pool and sauna areas are very relaxing and yes, clothing is optional. If this idea bothers you you might want to find another option for your stay in Napa Valley. Please read their website fully as they do not try and hide this in any way. Showing up and complaining about this aspect of the resort demonstrates YOU did not read through the description of the Meadowlark resort. That being said relax…..it’s your option. Wear something or don’t at the pool. No one cares. As the sign outside the main door says, “If you are in a hurry you’re in the wrong place.” Come visit and have a fun time. Enjoy the convenience to the local area. Kurt and Richard take your stay seriously. After all, it’s not just their business, it is their home and they want you to enjoy it as much as they do. We had a great time and I’m sure you will as well

in dire need of a place to relax, rejuvenate, and just plain chill, a friend told me about Meadowlark Inn. I was traveling solo and Kurt and Richard’s place gave me a perfect mix of solitude and friendly engagement with them as well as with the other guests staying there. I hiked and mountain biked in nearby beautiful outdoor spaces, coming back to the inn for afternoon of sitting by the mineral pool, soaking in the hot tub, and taking in the sauna. I will definitely return here! Thank you Kurt and Richard for creating such a remarkable space to be.

My wife and I just returned from our annual stay at the Meadowlark Country House. We were lucky enough to discover the Meadowlark on our honeymoon a little over 8 years ago and have been coming back ever since. This is a real treat for us that we patiently look forward to each year. This review is well over due. The reviews consistently rate the Meadowlark Country House as excellent and that is because the rating is well deserved, There are very few places that continually get better each time you visit but the Meadowlark is the exception. The more you visit the more you can not wait to return. This Calistoga country estate is absolutely gorgeous and well maintained. You could not wish for a more relaxing place to decompress and take a break from work and life's everyday problems. The two gentlemen who have a lot to do with this "State of Relaxation" are the owner and hosts, Kurt & Richard. They have become wonderful friends and are like family to us like many of their other repeat visitors. Both these gentlemen are a wealth of information and knowledge when it comes to where to eat and where to visit in the area. They are always willing to take the time to share this knowledge with their guests. When you watch Kurt & Richard interact with their guests you can tell that they truly love what they are doing and genuinely want their guests to enjoy their home as much as they do. I usually get up early in the morning, put on one of the over sized warm flannel robes provided in all of the rooms and head to the pool for a morning stretch, some lap swimming and a soak in the spa. Kurt keeps the water in the pool at the perfect temperature. After that it's back to the room to wake the wife up and get ready for breakfast. Breakfast is prepared each morning by Richard and Maria. With meals created with fresh herbs from the garden located right outside the kitchen and fresh eggs from their own hens, these delicious meals speak for themselves. Combine this with the beautiful breakfast setting on the veranda, and it has to be one of the best ways to start your day. Where have you ever stayed where one of your hosts invites you and your spouse into their kitchen and teaches you how to make their famous Eggs Benedict and then writes down the instructions and ingredients so you don't forget. Thank you Richard! When it comes to the rest of this beautiful property and the rooms this is where Kurt's creative talents really shine. He has gotten it just right. The rooms are well appointed, spacious, and promote a feeling of comfort and coziness. It is Kurt's subtle attention to detail that makes you feel pampered in the very indirect way. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained as well as the area where they keep several of their magnificent horses. But of all of Kurt's creations on the property his masterpiece has got to be the pool and spa area. Kurt has truly created an " Oasis of Relaxation and Tranquility" With its European flavor complimented with a very generous amount of privacy, just like breakfast the pool area should not be missed. When the flora and trees surrounding the pool are in full bloom it's hard not to enjoy the beauty and sweet smells the fill the air. Do not be intimidated by the clothes optional aspect of the pool and spa. Whether you decide to wear or not wear your swim suit, no one will care one way or the other. It's simply your choice. The atmosphere at pool is very casual and most of all very respectful. This makes it very comfortable especially for the ladies. Kurt would not have it any other way. Either way this area can be enjoyed by all regardless of your state of dress. The pool and spa are the only clothes optional areas on the property. At night the Meadowlark takes on a charm all of it's own. It is tastefully lit with just the right amount of warm and gentle lighting. If you are having a restless night or return late to the Meadowlark you can head to the pool for a late night swim or just sit in the spa and enjoy the Calistoga night with its many stars. At the very least make arrangements with the Meadowlark for a day pass, meet Kurt & Richard, tour the property, and then spend the rest of the day enjoying and relaxing by the pool. The odds are you won't want to leave but at least you can make reservations for your next visit. Kurt and Richard, thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. Well done gentlemen! Don't Change a Thing!
