I had a large group, 12 rooms to be exact, and Julia was not only super accommodating but above and beyond with her attention to detail. Every phone call, she was always available or promptly got back to me. The rooms themselves were a dream! Everyone was so excited to go to their rooms to find a beautiful welcome spread, compete with complimentary water! If you're looking for a beautiful and relaxing place to stay, THIS IS IT!!!

Have been going to this spa over the years noticing the price going up in the spring, summer and fall months. Best time to go and get a discount is during December as the rooms are often discounted substantially. The rooms by the office are often a little noisier than the larger more expensive rooms. Since I went mid-week, and wanted a super quiet room the nice man at the front desk upgraded me to room 9 which was lovely and quiet. The room was really large with a separate bedroom, kitchen area, and there was free water and snacks included. Lovely room, very clean, and quiet. The one problem I had in the room was getting "hot" water to soak in the tub. You have to let the water run (which seems so wasteful) about 10 minutes to get hot enough water for a shower or soaking in room's bathtub. Had a massage - very disappointing........ the gal seemed OK but after she did the feet sprayed a disinfectant on her hands two times which wasn't pleasant to smell, made me feel uncomfortable and defective. I had never had that experience and it definitely wasn't a good experience. I asked her in the beginning if she could be careful getting the oil in my hair since I had just washed it - even tied it on top of my head, but she still got lots of oil on it.......When I asked to take a shower after she said I could take one in my room. I told her the water took over 10 minutes to get hot so she reluctantly said she would prepare a shower for me in the next room. The problem was that shower was cold and I had to let the water run for over 10 minutes to get hot water. It was uncomfortable waiting in the cold, sterile room. This experience took away from the massage experience and I felt the massage wasn't worth the $105 for 50 minutes. So in rating this hotel, the 4 stars are for the hotel, but the massage experience was a one star. Very disappointing and definitely not worth the money.

My wife and I stayed here for our Anniversary, as we wanted to wine taste and then get a spa package. Golden Haven is located off the main street in Calistoga in a residential area. A bit weird, though it is a good sized property. Check-in went smoothly, and we were given a room with a dry sauna inside. Also confirmed our spa package for the next morning. The room was of decent size with a King size bed. Flat screen TV and refrigerator included. Would have liked the bathroom to be a bit bigger, but it was fine. Fair warning, the shower/bath does take 1-2 minutes to heat up due to the water coming from the Springs. Once it got hot, there was nice water pressure. It was a quiet night during the week, and no loud neighbors or street sounds. The next morning we went for our Couples Massage package. We started off with the mud baths which are quit an experience. My skin felt great after. From there we went to a mineral spa jacuzzi to then a nice rest with warm blankets on us. Next was the Massages that were good. Both therapists asked us how we liked the pressure, plus anything that they should be aware of medically . The staff were super friendly. Check out went smoothly also. Thank you Golden Haven.

My family are CA mineral bath fanatics, and the Golden Haven does not disappoint - with but one proviso - there are other places with better mud and better pools. The renovated rooms are quite nice - I had one with a sauna last time, which was awesome. I really like the design of the rooms as well - clean and neat without that nauseating stench of decadent privilege that infests Napa-Sonoma and its ubiquitous wineries. The mud is less uniform and fragrant than either Dr. W or Roman, but still very nice, and highly recommended. And a bit of advice - it's about the water and the mud - all logistical concerns should be totally secondary here.
