Lovely place to stay!

It's been a few years since I have stayed in Calistoga, and this hotel's century old charm and elegance is still in top notch shape.

Same European adults only feeling with a calm and restful atmosphere as before.
Great hidden gem in Calistoga that feels like a charming European community in a wine country town.

Walk anywhere and everywhere in this central location, yet quiet and comfortable rooms (there's a mini fridge for those of us GF that usually have to plan ahead) and a/c in each room.

While still under COVID-19 restrictions, things have changed, but only for the better. Instead of a voucher for the downstairs restaurant, you receive personalized breakfast items that arrive via room service (which are included in the price for the night's stay).

Particularly notable was the delicious gluten free fresh baked current and cranberry scone (not gritty and grainy) which arrived with local North Bay tea company (Republic of Tea) served at the time of your choice (quite a generous time selection of the morning).

For coffee drinkers, there’s an Illy machine in the room with eco-friendly real tea/coffee and espresso cups, saucers and stir spoons. (Thank you for not having more compostable/disposables)!

Rooms are sparkling clean (A+ for friendly and professional housekeeping service).

Pool is warm enough to relax but not too hot to swim (if you wanted to) and hot tub with the natural hot springs fed water was more spacious than I remember. It has some mineral deposits, and that’s a good thing ~ I want to know that it’s real living/healing water and calcium carbonate deposits are a good sign!

I look forward to returning again.

Even when I can't travel to Europe, or time travel to the 1920's, this fills both buckets with a dose of spa and summertime R&R.

We stayed for two nights for a weekend getaway to wine country. The location is perfect, walking distance to shops, restaurants, and wine tasting, or a short drive away to wonderful wineries. The hotel is charming and premises are well maintained. We booked a king room and it was clean and charming, but very small. Our friends booked the same room category and got a much larger room with a seating area, almost like a suite. But we didn't make a big deal about it. The coffee and small breakfast delivered to the room was a nice touch. Although one morning we called the front desk asking for extra coffee pot, which they said would be brought up the room, but extra coffee never arrived. We used the pool and it was wonderful. Service at the pool and wine tasting by the pool were outstanding. The spa was great. Overall, our very relaxing and wonderful weekend at the hotel was not tarnished by hit and miss service from front desk.

Spent a nice long President's Day weekend in Calistoga at the Mount View Hotel and Spa and it was a delight. Such a great location, the staff was all so nice and friendly and attentive. Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable, had great towels and care products in the shower - only requests for the room were if they could have king sized pillows for king size beds and to have curtains that were a little bigger and easier to slide across.
The pool area was so nice, spent a lot of time out there after wine-tasting, pool could have been a bit warmer for winter, but for most other times of the year - I'm sure it's fine. And the mineral spring water just feels great in the spa.
Thanks again and can't wait to come back!

This was my third trip to Mount View, and I was thrilled to show my friends my favorite hotel in Calistoga. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the two bedroom suite was expensive, but it was great to have the privacy. As usual, the rooms were cozy and comfortable, the heated pool and hot tub a delight, and the vintage decor emphasized the hotel's art deco feel.

My only problem was the included breakfast. Every year this hotel seems to do breakfast differently. Last time I stayed, we received vouchers for the attached restaurant and now they offer coffee, tea and pastries in a small lounge on the first floor--a significantly lower value in a less comfortable environment. The small platter of pastries were croissants that tasted like they'd been frozen, and gluten-free sweet bread. We were very appreciative of the GF option offered (we were traveling with friends with gluten allergies). But neither were good, and they were watched over by a staff member whose only job seemed to be to ensure we didn't receive more than one person.

We ended up buying delicious coffee and pastries from Calistoga Roastery across the street.

Dear Piegirl, I apologize for making you feel watched over and not there to serve you. We are there to make you feel welcome offering you a pour over cup of coffee and bring you a pastry or two. We will work with the staff on better service for breakfast. We do offer gluten free and vegan option and are disappointed you didn't like them. Our breakfast program has change a few times and the voucher program which you like had to stop because the restaurant made a change and wasn't open every day. We tried the buffet and it wasn't special or unique. We will look into making what we offer a better experience.

Mount View Hotel & Spa is such a special place to stay in the lovely town of Calistoga. We love it, because we are heartsy travelers, and it has the 5 qualities that we look for in a place:

H ~ hospitality
E ~eco-friendly
A~ artsy
R~ relaxing
T ~ tasty

(H) The hospitality and service of the Mount View family is always top notch! Roxan, Derrick, and Chloe are so friendly, helpful, and gracious...always going the extra mile, and making us feel at home.

(E)The property is environmentally friendly and has many sustainable green practices such as compostable cups at the hydration station. Which is the coolest thing!

(A) The hotel itself is a work of art, with it's beautiful authentic Art Deco style, that makes you feel like you're stepping back in time. Mother Nature's art is on display as well, in the gorgeous landscaping, where we find lots of heart leaves in the path that leads to the pool. Mount View is so artsy that you can even stay in one of their artist cottages, where you will find a canvas, easel and paints to channel your inner Bob Ross.

(R) The Mount View Hotel & Spa has mastered the "art of relaxation" in so many ways. There is a wonderful spa on site that offers everything from traditional mud baths to couple's massages with cbd. But the wow factor for me is the courtyard pool and mineral hot tub. It is a heavenly oasis where you can "take in the waters" to refresh and rejuvenate your body, mind, heart and soul! Night swimming is a favorite past time of mine, and I have spent some of my most blissful moments there floating under the California stars. ✨

(T) The hotel also provides the tastiness with pour over coffee & croissants in the morning, and two restaurants on site. We love the burgers, brussel sprouts and craft cocktails from Johnnys. Veraison, is a bit fancier with farm to table vibes run by legendary Dan Kaiser. The last time we were there, we had an amazing Jamaican dinner with a dj spinning tunes by the pool, with excellent service from Rick, who really knows his wine. The Mount View Hotel also offers complimentary wine tasting in the evening, which being a wino is much appreciated. Cheers!

Thank you, Mount View Hotel, for having heart!

I came up to Calistoga on a whim, was able to get a last minute room on a Saturday... Matthew at the front desk set me up, and when I asked of places to eat and taste wine along the wine he guided me to lola wines.
I had an amazing experience.

Overall pool is awesome, rooms are clean.
Bar in hotel and restaurant nice and recommended by staff. I will have to try it out next visit

Had a lovely stay at the Mount View Hotel in beautiful Calistoga last week. The historic hotel is in a great, central location so you can walk to many restaurants and the cute shops and tasting rooms downtown. The staff was excellent - so helpful and accommodating. Enjoyed the breakfast tray with the delicious breads and great coffee. Highlight is the pool area with hot tub - definitely bring a bathing suit! That was our only regret. Weather was nice enough one day that they opened the outside bar and fire pits which was such a treat. Next time will spend an extra day to go to the spa!

Love to stay here! I love to come stay here for the location, clean rooms, and great service.
Matthew at the front desk booked our reservation during midweek with the AAA discount, and assited me with tastings up in Howell mountaibn and Calistoga as well.
I highly recommend this hotel for a long term stay and short get aways!

We had a great stay at Mount View Hotel and Spa. I appreciated the hot springs hot tub that was open all night. They served complimentary breakfast with coffee to our room each morning and the room was comfortable. We had wonderful service from Matt H. who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable by checking with us about any of our needs as well as responding quickly to our requests. It was COVID 19 safe with regulations and rules enforced and intact.

The hotel was closed but here we are in the era of COVID-19. I happened to ask one of the employees if I could get wifi there and a pint of beer as I had some important news to catch up on.
The employee was working on a project but said he could help me out. Not only did he seat me in a shady spot outside, I asked if I could get a beer as part of me feels obligated in these situations as it was the Wifi I needed, but I am a beer lover. He recommended a Pilsner they have on tap that was as good as he said it was. I had a bunch of stuff to catch up on as I am only traveling up here in the Napa Valley, but if how I was treated is an indication of the service Mountain View guests receive I wouldn't hesitate staying here. It was very easy for the man to have just said they were closed. I remember a time when I first came to the US it was a beer desert. Now we produce some of the best beer in the world. As an aside, Calistoga is a nice little town an hour and a half from the east side of the Bay Area and a short walk from the Mountain View Hotel is the old mine trail if you like hiking. Three miles South is the Bothe Napa state park and campground.

What is dress attire for mid November in Calistoga?
Answer from MountViewMgr
Calistoga, California2 contributions
Dear Squevva: The dress code in Calistoga is always casual, very laid back. If you are going to dinner the restaurants here are also casual, however, there are some restaurants in Yountville where they do have a dress code. This being said, if you are not eating in Yountville you are fine with the casual dress code. You may want to bring a jacket in November as the evenings will get cooler. We look forward to seeing you in November. Sincerely, Debbie Greene, GM
