Mount View Hotel & Spa is such a special place to stay in the lovely town of Calistoga. We love it, because we are heartsy travelers, and it has the 5 qualities that we look for in a place: H ~ hospitality E ~eco-friendly A~ artsy R~ relaxing T ~ tasty (H) The hospitality and service of the Mount View family is always top notch! Roxan, Derrick, and Chloe are so friendly, helpful, and gracious...always going the extra mile, and making us feel at home. (E)The property is environmentally friendly and has many sustainable green practices such as compostable cups at the hydration station. Which is the coolest thing! (A) The hotel itself is a work of art, with it's beautiful authentic Art Deco style, that makes you feel like you're stepping back in time. Mother Nature's art is on display as well, in the gorgeous landscaping, where we find lots of heart leaves in the path that leads to the pool. Mount View is so artsy that you can even stay in one of their artist cottages, where you will find a canvas, easel and paints to channel your inner Bob Ross. (R) The Mount View Hotel & Spa has mastered the "art of relaxation" in so many ways. There is a wonderful spa on site that offers everything from traditional mud baths to couple's massages with cbd. But the wow factor for me is the courtyard pool and mineral hot tub. It is a heavenly oasis where you can "take in the waters" to refresh and rejuvenate your body, mind, heart and soul! Night swimming is a favorite past time of mine, and I have spent some of my most blissful moments there floating under the California stars. ✨ (T) The hotel also provides the tastiness with pour over coffee & croissants in the morning, and two restaurants on site. We love the burgers, brussel sprouts and craft cocktails from Johnnys. Veraison, is a bit fancier with farm to table vibes run by legendary Dan Kaiser. The last time we were there, we had an amazing Jamaican dinner with a dj spinning tunes by the pool, with excellent service from Rick, who really knows his wine. The Mount View Hotel also offers complimentary wine tasting in the evening, which being a wino is much appreciated. Cheers! Thank you, Mount View Hotel, for having heart!

Mountain View Hotel and Spa in Calistoga, on Lincoln Avenue. The hotel recently completed a design upgrade and redecorated lobby, front registration desk and the entryway, turning the area into a very unique, inviting and lovely art deco space, nicely populated with additional artifacts…and entry doors to the 2 adjacent restaurants …checking in at the desk we were warmly welcomed by staff and the GM, and the check-in was very quick and easy. Instead of a room in the main building, we opted for an Artist cottage, which are individual 1-room suites, each in a separate building with a wooden fence & gate entrance into a private patio with lounge chairs and our private Jacuzzi; double, glass French doors open into the bedroom which also includes a nice ensuite bathroom, closet and a ‘kitchette’ in a small area adjacent to the entry door, consisting of a sink-wet bar and a small refrigerator. The room itself is a about the size of a normal queen size room at a hotel but it’s lay-out seems to be more spacious than it really is. The bed is extremely comfortable and they give you lots of pillows and a warm cover. There is a small closet but the problem is there’s no place to put your suitcases so pack light, and plan on relaxing as much as possible. On our first night, we took advantage of the wine tasting at the Blue Note Room off the lobby [wine tasting 3-4 nights a week]…also the room that serves coffee and pastries [breakfast] each morning, and they have gluten-free goodies too.…. Then we went to Happy Hour [4 PM to 6:30 PM] at Johnny’s Sports Bar & Restaurant, one of the 2 restaurants in the hotel…The food was delicious and for six dollars you can get most of the dishes available on the bar menu. Later we return to our room, filled up the outdoor Jacuzzi and enjoy the hot jets of water, with a glass of wine looking at the stars in the sky and enjoying a nice conversation with Terry. Nice pleasant and efficient staff, service great and friendly, layout and scenery most comfortable. Good place.

Joy gives the best massages I’ve ever had. Went for a couples massage in Valentine’s Day and it was great. Used the spa and sauna afterward which was a nice perk. Would definitely go again hopefully soon

Very friendly, accommodating staff who went out of their way to do everything to make our stay comfortable including room selection, car covers, spa appointments, restaurant recommendtions and left behind jewelry. The hotel is older and has the charm, feel and sizing of exactly what it is, a restored older European styled hotel. Three of us stayed in one of the 2 bedroom suite with the Jack/Jill bathroom accessed by a flight of stairs. Furnished in dark grey wallpaper, whites and velvet, one room had an ample closet and was darker and quieter. The other was more airy and bright with a wardrobe. Each bedroom had a sink, mirrors and lights that made sharing the bathroom easy. There was also a separate sitting area with soft chandelier lighting (dark). We spent evenings there drinking wine we'd purchased at wineries or brought along while noshing on the most amazing snacks we'd found at the Saturday Growers Market nearby. (The fish and orchids at the market were unbelievable.) There was some noise from the bar directly below (music bass) Friday night but it wasn't loud and did not interfere with sleeping. Crazy heavy winds from an unusual weather front the next night were way louder and disruptive. Each morning we would head to their salon to grab a wonderful pour over coffee and pastry (complimentary) before heading to the hot tub. Delightfully delicious but not fulfilling breakfast. The spa service was excellent, especially the massage. We also did the "mud" bath which was a brown mineral water soak scented with lavender in a whirlpool with a chocolate scrub and private shower. The location of the hotel couldn't be better with restaurant, shops, markets, wineries and art galleries only a few steps away.

This was my third trip to Mount View, and I was thrilled to show my friends my favorite hotel in Calistoga. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the two bedroom suite was expensive, but it was great to have the privacy. As usual, the rooms were cozy and comfortable, the heated pool and hot tub a delight, and the vintage decor emphasized the hotel's art deco feel. My only problem was the included breakfast. Every year this hotel seems to do breakfast differently. Last time I stayed, we received vouchers for the attached restaurant and now they offer coffee, tea and pastries in a small lounge on the first floor--a significantly lower value in a less comfortable environment. The small platter of pastries were croissants that tasted like they'd been frozen, and gluten-free sweet bread. We were very appreciative of the GF option offered (we were traveling with friends with gluten allergies). But neither were good, and they were watched over by a staff member whose only job seemed to be to ensure we didn't receive more than one person. We ended up buying delicious coffee and pastries from Calistoga Roastery across the street.
