The Calistoga Spa Hot Springs, a geothermal hot springs resort, recently completed an extensive renovation project that has dramatically transformed a property that has been attracting repeat guests for generations. Located in downtown Calistoga, the 56-room hotel and spa was completely redesigned with a contemporary spa inspired look and feel. The eighteen month long renovation has touched all aspects of the property including a redesign of the guestrooms with spa-inspired bedding, honed Italian porcelain tile showers, kitchenettes with microwave ovens and modern conveniences such as full High Definition LED televisions. The focal points of the renovation are the four-geothermal heated mineral pools. The pool deck was fitted with travertine tiles, new designer-inspired pool furniture and the inclusion of grape covered arbors.

Within the last 3 months we’ve stayed at Calistoga Spa Hot Spring twice and I’ve booked it again for a mini vacay next year. Calistoga itself is such a beautiful place and this hotel is a great property to unwind after a day of wine tasting, site seeing or just hanging out at the pool. Having a kitchenette is so convenient to make homemade meals. While there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance it’s nice to be able to cook some meals yourself. The kitchen is stocked with plates, silverware, a strainer, chopping board, pots, microwave, toaster and they even provide you with dish soap and sponge. The charcoal grills placed throughout the property are a plus and cleaned daily by staff. If you plan to use them I’d recommend booking a room on the first floor as it will make transporting things easier. We had a second room floor both times and on our next trip I made sure to book a first floor room so that using the grill will be easier. The pools are wonderful and staff are mostly good about clearly out towels that have been left on lounge chairs for over an hour. I’m hoping that daily housekeeping is something that will happen again in the near future. I completely understand why it’s not offered during covid times but I do appreciate this service when I’m on vacation. The only negative thing I do have to say, and this is no fault of management, is that a good number of guests use the outdoor grill and furniture and then leave their belongings on the table as a way to reserve the spot for the duration of their stay. I find this rude and inconsiderate as this is a shared space that all guests should be able to use. We had to use the grill all the way on the other side of the property because all the ones near us were being “reserved” by others. Overall this is a wonderful place to stay. Can’t wait for our next visit.

Totally recommend staying here when going to Napa its close to really cool wineries and if you fly in from Sonoma airport this is very quick to get here and close to so much you don't have to stay in Napa Calistoga is the way to go.

The rooms are great we had our own little kitchenette so we had groceries and we could walk to the main street and get groceries and coffee and restaurants. And the hotel is behind the main street so it's quieter. My friend had the hotel set up a kick boxing class for her one morning that she loved so they will help you keep your workout going on your vacay.

Perfect girls getaway with healing waters and wine tasting galore. Nice mineral pools made my R Arthrtis feel way better, Rooms were clean, comfortable, and had handy kitchenettes. We did not do Spa service this time but plan to be back. Had a wine tasting passport to visit several wineries on departure day, take your actual passport, $60 per person Jan-Feb.

I had a recent trip to Calistoga Spa which was very disturbing. There was a large man there wearing women’s lingerie in the Hot Tub. Now if a man wants to wear a women’s bikini, that’s one thing. But nude colored lingerie, IMO, at a public pool is very inappropriate. Because underwear are not designed for water, it kept gapping open at the groin area, showing his man parts. Said man also appeared to have mental problems, as he was talking to himself strangely in the hot tub and dipping his personal drinking cups in and out of the hot tub. He also was coughing very aggressively without covering his mouth, while a mask was hanging under his chin. I think the topper was when he reached into his undies several times to rearrange his “tuck”. Every patron at the pool seemed petrified and avoided the hot tub. The pool staff interacted with the man a few times as if all was normal. The rules on the board clearly state... all guests must wear a swimsuit to use the pools. Please enforce your basic rules that ensure basic decency and a comfortable experience for all paying guests.

Ps.. there was a different man in the pool wearing underwear this same day and a toddler wearing training underwear (your rules say must be in swim diaper, which is of course reasonable). Please provide attendants at the pool that can enforce these basic hygienic policies.

My sister and I have been meeting here a couple of times per year for years and we will continue. Calistoga Spa Hot Springs provides everything we need: clean, comfortable rooms with a small kitchenette; choices of pools from hot to cool; mud baths; short walk to Calistoga with its eclectic shops and restaurants; and a staff that aims to please. In addition, the surrounds of Napa Valley and its bounty of shops, wineries, and restaurants are minutes away.

Came here for the first time, taking advantage of a pay for 2 stay 3 nights special. Grounds, pool area & our 2 king rooms very clean & well maintained. Decor utilitarian modern, kitchenettes equipped with plates, utensils 2 of each ) , a couple of cooking utensils & pots, coffeemaker, microwave, 2 burner electric stovetop, mini fridge, rollout table & stools. Coffee, sugar, creamer, S&P. Rooms fairly spacious, nice bathrooms, showers with shower heads at both sides easily fit two. Our bed was comfy. Wi-Fi fine. All rooms open to outside, & check in at a lobby window so many guests chose not to wear masks. Staff were all masked, were friendly & promptly delivered robes, more coffee when requested. Currently room cleaning only after check out, spa & fitness rooms closed due to COVID. All rooms face the pool courtyard. Stairs, no elevator to second floor rooms, none of which have much of a view. Hotel is 1 block from town center, including Cal Mart for groceries or deli, 1/2 block to Ace hardware if you want barbecue supplies.
But the main attraction are the pools. A bathtub temperature kiddie pool with a waterfall down a rock wall ( I never saw more than 3 kids. Adults also stretched out in the shallow water. ) There are a 6 lap lane plus wading side pool kept at near 80”, a 5’ deep 100” wading/swim pool ( my fav ) & a gazebo covered adults only walk in jacuzzi with 12 jets, seating for more. Even at the busiest hours, there were plenty of towels, seating or lounges, plenty of umbrellas or other shade. The pool area has palms, grape vines, olive trees, carpet roses & other plantings & the dominant sound is from a fountain at the entrance. The courtyard outside the pool area has more planting, tables & barbecues. There are wall benches outside every room. Plenty of free parking.
This is not the place for rose petals on the bed, room service luxury. It is for couples or families who come to Calistoga for some relaxing soaking & swimming. You can cook/ eat in or outside your room or walk 1-2 blocks to several restaurants.

the pools are so relaxing and fun for the kids too. The rooms with their kitchenettes make things really easy, and there is a grocery store 5 minute walk away. Parking is pretty close and plentiful too. The staff is very nice and helpful. Calistoga is my favorite part of wine country. This is our third trip here and wouldn’t stay anywhere else in town.

My only complaint was the in room climate control system seemed a bit dodgy and fortunately we always bring a portable heater with us to any road trip hotel. Otherwise we would have been too cold.

My partner and I stayed here for 1.5 nights across two separate visits. Our first visit was in September, but a nearby wildfire took a turn for the worse and we were evacuated in the middle of the night. Once management returned to the property a few days later, they were easy to reach and quickly refunded us.

We rebooked in December and had a wonderful full-night experience this time. They needed to perform maintenance in the building we had booked our room in (they allow people to select specific rooms), so they kindly upgraded us from a queen bedroom to a nearby king bedroom for free.

The rooms were clean and updated, and the kitchenette was helpful during COVID since dining out was complicated. But the stars of the show were the clean, updated pools. We were very happy to have access to three pools (warm, almost hot, jetted hot). Plus with social distancing protocols in place, we had no trouble getting a pair of loungers to ourselves and staying an appropriate distance from other guests.

Overall, we thought Calistoga Spa Hot Springs did a good job of navigating a wildfire and pandemic to deliver an excellent stay (and a half) to its guests. Recommended!

Fantastic hot pools and large swimming pool, very well maintained premises, clean and comfortable room, great quiet location close to downtown. Rooms equipped with small fridge/freezer, cooktop with 2 burners, microwave & table & chairs. In non-Covid times, the rooms were also equipped with basic pots & pans, cooking utensils, plates, glasses & silverware. A terrific place to relax.
