Small quiet hotel . Pleasantly surprised with cleaning. They came in everyday make beds and cleaned bathroom. Most hotels do not do this any longer without you having to request. Shuttle was nice but if you don't want to follow the times available you can always use Lyft or Uber. Even with 3 shuttles between 2 hotels there were times that were full. Able to walk to McDonalds, Canes and CVS saving a bit of money on expensive restaurants

First, the good news: The room was clean, with updated decor. The internet was fast and reliable. The location was fantastic and the grounds were well maintained and had a vintage charm. Now, the bad news: This property is "pet friendly" meaning they except pets. But, be prepared to sign your life away with a hefty deposit (returned if they find the room clean enough at check out) and the ridiculous $25 per pet free. Also, you are not allowed to leave your pets in the room unattended. Which means if they see you by the pool, using the gym or just outside alone with no pets in tow, you would receive a warning phone call. Part of paying for a pet friendly hotel is being able to relax. I felt like a prisoner being watched over by the warden. Please, we paid the pet fee and left a deposit....can you please leave us pet owners alone to enjoy ourselves?

I chose this hotel because of the retro vibe and it did not disappoint! Clean and well kept, the room had a fridge and the air conditioning worked well, I liked the fact that you could open the window in the room to let natural air in, and the balcony was great to step out and take in the view of the hills. We used the pool which was clean and not over crowded we also used the upper deck located on the upper area of the swimming pool, it had tables and chairs and was a nice area to sit and talk. Staff very accommodating, access to laundry room which was helpful for a longer stay Very close Uber drive to Universal and Hollywood Blvd. Close to stores and restaurants even a Starbucks 5 minute walk. We felt safe in this area.

I stayed at this hotel on Wednesday night when I was evacuated from my home and separated from family. In addition to the stress and fear over the crisis, I am a first responder and had worked without sleep on Tuesday night. I needed shelter and a place to lay my head. I asked if there were special rates for evacuees and was told that everyone staying at the hotel was an evacuee. The rate I was charged was obscene but I paid the $289 plus taxes and fees for a room with double beds, just so I could sleep. I asked about a triple A discount and was told there was none.
The door to the room had a huge gap, no weatherstripping. I didn't notice until I awoke with a soar throat and red eyes. The wind blew debris under the door and on to the carpet, not to mention the ash I breathed in.
I feel so taken advantage of and it is price gauging to raise prices more than 10% during an emergency, no matter what they say about the occupancy rate. The Coast Hotel company should be ashamed and I will definitely be reporting this to the City on the L.A. County website for consumer affairs.

It's disheartening to hear about your experience during such a challenging time. We understand the importance of providing a safe haven for first responders like yourself. While we strive to communicate our rates transparently, we regret that your stay did not meet your expectations. The outdoor style of our hotel can indeed lead to challenges during inclement weather, but your feedback will help us address these issues moving forward. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts, and we are committed to improving our guest experience.

Long story short - I booked a room large enough to accommodate my party directly through Coast Hotels. When I arrived, I was charged a large fee to be “upgraded” to the room I had already booked. They insist it would be “unfair” to give me the room I booked at the price I was promised.

When I called coast hotels back in February to book 2 rooms for 2 nights for 3 adults and 3 kids (all under age 6), I didn’t anticipate the bait and switch scam that was about to take place. The gentleman at coast hotels I spoke with about booking suggested that I book a larger room at a higher price to ultimately save money and we could all stay together. I appreciated his help and agreed, thinking he was truly looking out for my financial interest. When we arrived at the safari inn, the gentleman at the front desk explained that they were only expecting 2 adults and 2 children and that the room they had us in could not accommodate us. I was surprised and confused by this, considering the gentleman I spoke with nearly 8 weeks prior had assured me he had booked us all in a room large enough to accommodate us. When I explained the situation, the gentleman at the front desk seemed largely unsympathetic, and, rather than offering solutions, just reiterated that we could not stay in that room (which I was not trying to do myself). I took it upon myself to problem solve and asked if there was a room that could accommodate us. He said yes, and went on to describe the exact room that the booking agent had claimed to have booked for me. He said he could move us there, but for a significant up charge. Now at this point, I’m still trying my best to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the booking agent simply clicked the wrong room. Mistakes happen, although in this instance I was not the one who made it. My mistake ended up being giving them the benefit of the doubt. I reached out to customer service and explained what happened after the fact, thinking surely they will refund me the charge, surely they will want to make this right. Nope. They refused the refund, and simply left me with the assurance that they will be nicer to the next person they scam. Don’t let that be you!

We stayed 4 nights at the end of April to attend 2 nights at the Hollywood Bowl. Great location, and close to all things Hollywood! We swam every day in the heated pool which was great! We also loved the shuttle and took it to Universal one day and for a few hours in Burbank another day. We were fully prepared to take transit and/or Uber, but the hotel shuttle was perfect! Great sleep every night. We loved the nostalgia of Hollywood filming that has taken place over the years at this location. Staff was top notch!

The service at this place was appalling. Stay elsewhere!

Starting at check-in I was told you have to call in every day if you want your room cleaned. Normally this is automatic, especially if you have a dog, and you would think in times of pandemics they might prioritize cleaning. In my experience, housekeeping is automatic and you call if you DON'T want service.

Next, their wifi service is abysmal. If you have to work or do more than stream a low quality YouTube video, you'll need to head elsewhere.

Finally, after staying 5 nights on my last night, I brought a small UHaul trailer as I was getting on the road first thing in the morning. I then get a call from the front office telling me that I can't park it on the lot. Keep in mind, there is hardly anyone staying here and there was plenty of parking space - no one would be inconvenienced in any way. I explain that I just loaded up and am trying to keep it safe. They then said "the owner saw you pull in on camera and told us to tell you not to park there". I explained my concern over security, offered to pay for parking, but no. They didn't want to call their creeper of an owner back who was watching cameras in the middle of the day. I get it if no one is around, but a staffed motel with 4 customers? Odd. Makes you wonder where else they might have cameras.

Bottom line - you'd think an independent business would go out of their way to provide the best service and experience during a global pandemic, but instead this place ranked #1 as the worst on my trip. The place feels dated, the street is a major street so it's loud in the rooms from traffic noise, the AC adds a bunch more noise as well.

I'll never be back, I highly recommend looking elsewhere for accommodations.

We were visiting California for the first time and I wanted a hotel with a central location to places that we wanted to visit. Safari inn met that criteria. It is located near downtown Burbank. My main reason for choosing the hotel was that they provided transportation to many of the places that we were going to visit, such as Universal Studios, Warner Brothers Studios, and downtown Burbank. The hotel itself has been used in many movies and TV shows, so I knew it was an older hotel with a lot of ambience. It is definitely not a fancy, upscale hotel, but it is very family-friendly and met all our needs. The room was clean, the air conditioner worked very well, it was well stocked with supplies, the beds were comfortable, The view of the mountains was beautiful, and best of all, the transportation and driver were excellent. We used the transportation to go to Universal and Warner Brothers and the driver would point out sites and fill us in on the history of the area as we drove. We also used it just to go have dinner and to go to the comedy club in downtown Burbank. The driver made sure that he took us exactly where we wanted to go and was always there when it was time to pick this up. The hotel is also near several restaurants and has a CVS right next door, which was very convenient. I walked a block every morning to the McDonald's to get coffee and we had breakfast at Talleyrand's one morning, which is only two blocks away. Overall, we had an excellent stay and I appreciate the friendliness of all of the workers.

Ok very minor negatives first despite booking 9 months in advance we arrived to check in, the very unhelpful staff member said we were unable to get adjoining rooms and they had got our rooms as close as possible which translated to them being about as far apart as possible (rooms 108 & 230 at opposite ends of the motel) it almost felt as if he was taking the P.

All the other staff were fantastic (female front desk staff, room service, pool guy, shuttle driver, staff at Olives Bistro etc).

Rooms were of a decent size, beds were large enough & comfortable. Rooms were clean and we had daily maid service. Very good A/C, good size fridge. Rooms didn't have a safe

The pool was nice, lovely temperature & very clean.

We ate at the Bistro in the sister hotel, food & service was very good. Also make sure you have a drink at the bar. You are made to feel very welcome by the bartender, he even shared his birthday cake with us & you may meet some of the locals who frequent the bar.

Hotel is located in what felt a very safe if somewhat sterile area of LA. There are several attractions close by that are easily accessed by Uber/driving.

There is plenty of free parking.

There are some shops close by and there are several restaurants within a mile or so.

There is a free shuttle to Universal Studios (needs to be pre booked).

This was a really cool place to stay. We had a longer stay, and we booked a room with a kitchen so that we could cook meals. It was perfect. I loved the retro feel of the outside of the hotel. It reminded me of pictures of California road trips from the 60s that my grandma used to show me. The inside was much more modern than the 60s. Nothing fancy, but comfortable. It had everything we needed. The AC kept the room cool on those 90 degree days in July. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was not everyday, but they were always happy to give us more towels and coffee if we needed them. It was a pleasure to stay here for a week, and I would be happy to stay again the next time I am in the area.
