Somewhat walkable
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
The staff here are lovely, helpful and efficient. However the rooms are very dated and ours had a rather odd smell, it was in the corner and was extremely dark, our friends next door had a lovely bright room so we were just unlucky. However the rooms have plenty of towels, two luggage stands and lots of toiletries and were nice and clean. Parking is easy and the town is so quiet it felt very safe. Unfortunately although our confirmation said breakfast included we were told when we arrived that they stopped doing that 2 years ago. We knew that getting breakfast would be a pain in such a tiny place and so this was a big disappointment to us and caused an increase in our costs which we hadn’t expected. The bakery over the road doesn’t open on Wednesdays so we ended up buying cereal pots at the general store and begging some spoons from reception! We had a problem with the toilet in our room but they were incredibly responsive and sorted it really quickly. Be aware that if you arrive late there is no where to eat, store and burger place close at 6, ice cream and burger place close at 5! This is a reasonable place to stay and the staff definitely go the extra mile!

What a jewel! From the first rate check in with Kate, to the hospitality of the owners Steve and Mary, this modest motel offers all of the comforts of a large inn at a quality price. Rooms were clean and extremely comfortable, cleanliness a 5 out of 5, including a well running fridge and microwave. You can see the little attentions to detail all around the property. Neat, clean, and welcoming. Even the hardworking housekeeping staff were professional and extremely personable. I've spent the last four years at an establishment down the street with numerous disappointments and a less than friendly staff. This place is the epitome of small town charm and first rate service! Many thanks to all of you!

This is the first place I've stayed at that had coffee makers in the room that included a coffee grinder and whole beans! Talk about fresh, delicious coffee! Then, the bathroom towels and tissue were decoratively done up with care. I've traveled all over the world and I've only seen that at 4 star resorts. I complimented the manager and he said, it doesn't take much to take care of his guests, that he treats them as family! And 1st place ever that had 2 stand up luggage racks. Most motels don't even give you one. The room was clean and comfortable. If ever we pass thru this way again, we would definitely stay here!

Not great. Not bad. Just the basics in the almost middle of nowhere. Not sure how this hotel is rated 3* by Trip Advisor. The rate seemed high for what it was, but the middle of nowhere can do that. The TVs were mounted too high to watch comfortably. There is a fenced area for pets to have a romp, but its in the same yard as the fish cleaning sink. Keep on eye on your pups near it for they might go for a roll. No restaurants were open, so if you're planning to spend the night, plan ahead. It was a $7 gas station (closes at 8pm) Lunchable for dinner for me that night.

The staff there are so nice, they brewed coffee and hot cocoa for breakfast and the rooms were so cute. I had previously been stuck in a snowed in cabin. And when trying to leave Tahoe my family and I came here. The beds were way softer and the tv has a lot of channels to choose from. (Plus a very nice warm heater) We got there about maybe 1 or 2 in the morning. So it was all very convenient. Since we were lost. I especially loved the friendly woman behind the desk. She was very sweet!!

Very few changes from my visit in 2018. And, no negative ones!
The first change is that coffee seemed to available after breakfast.
The second change is that I saw promotional material in the lobby for a vendor selling supplies for attaching a fishing rod to a wheelchair.
Otherwise, this place is highly recommended. Clean, quiet, and you get your moneysworth. One suggestion, contact them directly instead of using a booking service. You'll get a better deal.

The owners (I think that’s their role) are a very sweet and friendly couple. When I’ve stayed here I feel like I’m staying with an aunt n uncle. The rooms are cozy and a have a sentimental 80s feel. All the basics are there like a fridge, clean coffee maker, microwave and a table. In the office they do sell some snacks and cup of Ramon. They are pet friendly and no extra charge for that, so nice.

This is the best kept secret in Bridgeport. The room was clean. Even though the motel is older, it is well maintained and has been updated through the years. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would recommend this as one of the best mom and pops we have stayed in.

We were travelling through Bridgeport and fortunately, made the choice to stay at Ruby Inn. The staff is wonderful and the room was very clean and comfortable. The coffee grinder/whole beans were a real treat. Very happy with everything the room had to offer and the wifi worked well. True value for the price and we would definitely stay here again.
The staff could not be more welcoming or helpful!

Yes, there is A/C in the rooms. However, in almost 20 years of staying in the Ruby Inn during mid-summer, I've never used it. More important is a good heating system. That you will need! This is the high desert. And, once the sun goes down so does the temperature. Especially on a clear evening! I've had to scrape frost off my car early in the morning in mid-August. I've also seen it snow there in late June.
As for kids swimming, I've yet to see anything for that. The closest I know of is the pool at Grover Hot Springs in Markleeville. You might want to ask around..
Hi Darren...
I don't think any of the motels in Bridgeport offer a kitchenette in any rooms beyond having a fridge and microwave like the Ruby Inn offers in all of its rooms. As for a monthly rate, I suggest you contact Steve or Mary Noble (the owners) on their regular phone number as shown in the TripAdvisor listing. Having said that, I do know that they have hosted many long-term/construction worker guests over the years...
There are more places to choose from in the Bridgeport area.
