I ended up staying here on a recent 395 roadtrip as a result of a last minute change of plans due to inclement weather. I was pleasantly surprised by the rooms and site location. I didn't expect a waterfront view and private deck off the back porch! My dog loved hanging out, on leash, on the cool and well-maintained lawn. I enjoyed the peaceful views of the Eastern Sierra from the deck. The Lodge wasn't providing breakfast at the time due to the pandemic. However, there are several restaurants all within close proximity. The room was clean and bed was very comfy. It had everything I needed! In fact, I liked the motel so much, I booked another night on my return trip! The second room was just as clean and comfortable as the first room! You can't ask for a better location on 395 and close to Bodie State Historic Park. The one and only downside has nothing to do with the motel. The rules state that all dogs must be leashed while outside. I saw a few dogs off leash using the lawn area as a dog park which ruins it for the rest of us. The last thing my senior and mostly blind dog needs is an untrained big dog running free to pounce on him! Please keep your dog leashed outside while staying here.

We stayed here for two nights with our dog while we played at Twin Lakes. We really loved how dog friendly they are, and they don’t charge a crazy fee like other places do. The room was clean and cozy, cabin style with all the amenities. The AC was very loud but did the job. Thank god they have grills there because Bridgeport is lights out by 7. There are still a few dining options open later, but expect to pay $$$ to eat mediocre food. Our second night there we grilled bacon wrapped hotdogs while getting attacked by man eating mosquitos. Obviously the mosquitoes are not their problem, but be warned, this place is by water. The pool and jacuzzi were small and old, but very clean.

There were only a few small things we weren’t crazy about. The lock on the door when you leave is just on the door handle, you can only deadbolt it while inside. It was very un-sturdy and anyone trying hard enough could break it open. We also didn’t like that the deadbolt says “vacant” when it’s unlocked. This is the reason we believe staff came into our room one day when we left the AC on while gone for a few hours, it was turned off when we came back. We asked the front desk for an extra pillow and were basically told “what you see is what you get” and they don’t have extras. Lastly, some local kids swarmed the pool on the last night and basically forced us to leave.

Besides those hiccups, it was still a very lovely stay and we would stay there again.

Walker River Lodge is very well run and maintained. The owner really cares about guests, and sincerely asks for suggested improvements. This is a single story motel style layout. Rooms are very clean, comfortable, and quaint. Standard refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and hair dryer. Well built high quality furniture. No noise issues from adjacent rooms. Spent two comfortable nights there.

Thank you for your kind review. The motel was built in the 1960’s, and we really try to keep everything updated and fresh. Our next project, is updating the river suites. We hope you come and see us again!

We ended up staying at the Walker River Lodge because my husband had an early morning business meeting about an hour away from Bridgeport. He left at 5am and I stayed at the room, his meeting went a little later than expected so I went to the office to see if I could get a late check-out. Check out is at 11 o’clock (even though it is not posted) and there was only one car in the entire parking lot - The front desk clerk was unwilling to give any extra time, when I asked if I could leave my suitcase in the office she appeared to be put out and let me know that the office is closed until 1 o’clock so I would not be able to pick up my suitcase until after that. Since we still have a drive of 5 to 6 hours to get home I don’t want to wait until 1 o’clock to get my suitcase. I am now walking the streets of Bridgeport waiting for my husband with a rolling ice chest and my suitcase looking like a homeless person. The good news is it has given me time to write this review!! Obviously we will not return here and I would not recommend 👎🏼

I am sorry that you had to walk around town. We have the checkout time posted right by the door handle in every room. It is also posted on our website and on the receipt you receive when you check in. I am sorry we cannot allow late checkouts. It is all due to Covid regulations. We have to have the room vacant for awhile before anyone is allowed into it to clean and then afterwards for 3 hours, before the next guest can come in. Front desk should have explained that to you, and I will make sure they do in the future. #BeNice

On a recent road trip we chose this place in advance because it looked pretty good. Believe me, it's not. From the check-in until departure the next morning, it was just awful. The woman who checked us in was aloof and certainly not welcoming in any way and the room (and premises) were broken down and dirty. RAMSHACKLE is the best way to describe it. No privacy, either - the decks off each room are all connected, so you step outside and there's your neighbor(s) five feet away. And don't be fooled by the Walker River advertising - the river looked like some drainage canal in some urban area. I definitely would not recommend this place. Plus, there is no decent place to eat or drink in the town. Pass it by!

This is an older hotel in a very walkable historic town with a LOT of fishing and fishing camps. Stayed here at last minute on our way to visit Bodie,CA. The age shows, but I think that was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in…ever!!! Didn’t even wake up when the fishermen left in the morning. Got a great recommendation for dinner, check in and check out were easy. Parking was ample. I would stay here again.

We had a very pleasant stay in the Walker River Lodge for an extended weekend. Our room was spacious, including a fridge and space to sit and have coffee and breakfast. We enjoyed the nice view from our porch to the grassy area/river which is easy accessible through a back door. There are also picnic tables available, great for families.
Our daughter forgot her earrings and the manager was so kind to mail them to us. Very friendly and clean.

Nope, just don't stay here if you care about a decent hotel room.

The only reason I picked this hotel was because they supposedly had room for our truck and cargo trailer and it was dog friendly. I called before booking to make sure they had parking for our pickup truck and cargo trailer. Upon check in, the grouchy lady at the front desk told me we absolutely could not park on the hotel grounds. I asked to move rooms closer to the truck, but that was not allowed either. The first hotel experience you have is usually with the front desk staff, and her grouchiness, aloofness and unwelcoming attitude quickly made me realize I picked the wrong hotel.

And then we stepped into the room. Oh ick, I'd bet there is asbestos in the ceiling and the entire room is from the 1970's. Old old fridge that barely worked and ditto for the microwave. Hair was all over the decorative pillows. ICK! The toiletries were really cheap as well. For $200 a night the room should be way better.

We took our old dog outside for some hangout time on her leash. Of course there is a couple that let their two dogs run off leash and bother other people and dogs. Their response was "oops, sorry".

The ultimate insult was that the air conditioners had already been shut off for the winter (which looking at them was probably good for our lungs).

Oh, no that wasn't the ultimate insult. The ultimate insult was that we paid $200 for a hotel room for one night for a crappy room which was way more than I pay for my nicer hotels when I travel for work. The options were limited but we would rather sleep in our truck than stay here again.

Booked a month and a half in advance and glad we did as the parking lot was full on a Wednesday night. The room was adequate with two queen beds and very comfortable mattresses. Lots of pillows and an extra blanket in the closet. Nice size fridge and small microwave. The TV had a good picture but the audio was awful, very tiny and hard to understand what people were saying. It was a flat screen Haier. The room was clean and had recently been updated however the bathroom sink was very low making it difficult for a taller person to use. The lighting over the sink was very poor. The toilet kept running once flushed and the lid would have to be removed and the float adjusted. The blackout drapes needed some attention as some of the hangers had come loose and the drapes were just hanging not attached to the rod. All in all it was fine but rather expensive for the area.

The property is an outside door motel. It is located on the main street. Road noise was minimal, but squeaky door and room noise next door was noticeable. The river in the rear was more like a slow moving canal, not particularly attractive. The lobby was closed due to COVID. There is a small space to check-in. The clerk was helpful, but not cheerful. There is no business center, fitness center or breakfast. The internet speed is decent at about 14 Mbps. The room was adequate size with only one comfortable chair. There is no desk, but there is a tiny round table. The mattress was super firm. My wife woke up sore and we checked out a day early. The room rate at $168 was high but maybe California prices.

We have been called the Walker River Lodge since the 1960s - thats almost 60 years, not going to change the name now. The river behind the Lodge is slow moving because we are in drought conditions in California. We are a recreational destination, so no, we do not have a business center. Our “fitness center”, is all the great hikes and mountain ing biking opportunities right outside the door. And I am sorry about the breakfast, due to Covid constraints from the CDC, we cannot operate a continental breakfast. And yes, definitely California pricing - wage issues, utilities, taxes....
