Detailed Reviews
Stayed here in July 2021 with family.
Arrived after an exceptionally and tiring drive (10+ hrs) from Leh. After sighting Pangong Lake, it’s still another 20+ minutes to reach Spangmik…maybe that helps with slightly fewer tourists, but the area is surrounded by other camps.
We got assigned the tents quickly and efficiently. The sun was setting and the temperature was dropping quickly so that was a positive. Swapan (apologies if I’ve messed up the name), the front office manager, was very good and helpful with everything. He even helped one in our group get a boost of oxygen from their cylinder, as they were feeling a bit down due to the altitude.
The tents are basic and have a large bed which takes up most of the space…so we were glad to have left most of our luggage back in Leh. The bed was relatively comfortable…but being 3 of us in the room, there was even lesser space after the extra mattress went down. A shower would’ve been great after the long trip, but there was no hot water…which is only available in a bucket in the morning. Electricity also available only via diesel generator for a few hours in the evening. View from the room deck was nice, but the tents in the first row have a much better unobstructed view…so try for those.
Food was also fairly basic, but tasty…I don’t think most people would eat much any way due to the altitude. Hygiene is below average in my opinion. We had a quick dinner before retiring early…for the morning trip back. Breakfast in the morning was earlier than their start time, so it was a bit of a debacle and didn’t get sorted out till the Manager showed up again. He really makes the place better than it is.
Overall, it’s a decent place for the remoteness of the location, but it can be much better…with a little hot water for a shower on arrival and some more food options outside of the main meal times (we asked for Maggi around 5.30pm and they didn’t have any).

We stayed there for one night. Check in was a breeze. The cabin was clean, bed was comfortable. I think when they built the place they had a clear view of the lake but now with construction going on the view is compromised with new cabins going up. They explained very well when electricity would be available, usually 730-1030pm. There was hot water available in the morning for a shower. The dining hall was heated and the food was limited ( this is a remote location ) but tasted good. The staff was helpful and took care of all our needs. They provide a electric heater which can be used to heat the room when electricity is available. We did not have issues with the cold once in bed and with the hot water bottles provided at bedtime. It is a decent walk to the lake and we usually just took the car. We would definitely stay there again.

A much better tent, well protected.
The cabin very comfortable and clean, as well as the bathroom. Hot water only in the morning, electricity from 7pm to 10pm. Extremely nice and friendly staff, though young. They even brought tea to the tent. Nice food in a pleasant dining place, with Buddhist style decoration, and a large common seating area that offers lake view. At night, besides the extra blankets and hot water bottles, they provided a jug of hot water for toilet purposes and drinking water.
The view to the lake was splendid.
Thank you from Maria-Portugal.

We stayed in this camp on 6th Oct 2021 when we have taken the all inclusive package which includes dinner n high tea .as soon as we arrived their was no staff to entertain and everything was time bound when I asked why Is that the staff told is it's because of circumstances but the staff has taken it new hights When I went in the kitchen after repeated reminder to get the hot water they were just using electric cattle but they were telling us that it's very difficult to boil water plus the hotel policy was that they will provide charging port 24x7 but nothing was their. Plus they don't even switch on the generator in the morning or evening . Now comes to the food it's pathetic the quality was very bad I would recommend to take your own Haldiram packs overall experience is very compromising it's not worth the money you are paying

We travelled to pangong lake in July 2021, had a 2 night stay in the front row tent at the Pangong retreat camp.
The road to the resort is bumpy, however BRO is coming up with a shiny new road soon enough.
The resort is a little elevated from the base of Pangong lake and take about 15 minutes of walk or 5 minutes by car to reach the lake, The famous three idiots location is 15 minutes by car, hence the location is perfect for a quiet holiday.
The view from the tent is unbeatable, nothing can match the changing shades of the lake. Its an eye candy !
Food was pretty good, keeping in mind the location, the cook (maharaj ji) was from Rajasthan & served with delight.
The slight issue we had was the drainage odour that was random and could sweep in anytime in the room. it was a continuous issue and we sort of ignored it, staff tried their best to use room sprays and neutralise it, coudnt though.
We sat outside the tent and gazed at the raw beauty of the lake and mountains, it;ll never be enough.
Electricity was never a problem, They turn on the gen-set at 7 or 7:30 for an hour or so, ample to fill up the juice in power banks and mobile. The water however is Luke warm and yes, its chilly in the morning. Evening gen-set times are 6 to 10 Pm which includes dinner.
The staff are cooperative and we had a galla time there. Oxygen drops drastically when there but dont worry until it goes below 65 or 60, its normal !
Would highly recommend.

Running a hotel in such a remote location must be very challenging, especially given the lack of mains electricity and the weak mobile phone network. This said, we had a comfortable stay at Pangong Retreat, which was made all the better by the outstanding manager Mr Vicky, who worked tirelessly to help us in every respect.
The positives are that the tents are a good size, clean, with warm comfortable beds, 24 hour electricity, good bathrooms (hot water in the morning) and nice terraces with lake views. The staff are extremely kind and helpful, bringing hot water bottles, flasks of hot water etc and giving us a hot-spot so we could check our emails (there is no WiFi).
The two many issues to be aware of is that the camp is some distance from the lake (15-20 minute walk from the lakeshore) and the food is quite basic and limited in choice. Despite the underwhelming meals, the dining room was beautifully furnished and staff were very kind.
Thank you Mr Vicky and your wonderful team for taking great care of us and giving us a memorable stay at the truly amazing and beautiful Pangong Lake.

We selected this based on the reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed. The rooms are comfortable and the food was good. We had a view of Pangong lake. Only issue is there is currently building going on in front of hotel( new hotel?) this impacts the view but once complete I think it won’t be an issue. The food caters for Indians which was a bit spicy for our kids but they were helpful in getting something appropriate for them to eat. The staff are helpful. Keep in mind that due to location there is limited hot water (6-7am) and electricity 7-10pm. You are so far away from anything. These limitations are to be expected.

Location: The camp few 10 minutes away by car from the 3 idiots point
Food quality: Ok & good taste with limited choice. ( understanding the location like pangong , this is good)
Staff: Pretty friendly and welcoming.
Tents: Not too big, but tent and attached washroom was clean and well maintained.
Just bare in mind that there is no other mobile connection except for Jio. During night there is no electricity from 10 in the night but the camp provide emergency lateen
Hot water available from 6 to 7 in the morning
Overall, it was a decent stay. Nothing too luxurious, but good for a night.

At such high altitude with minimal facilities & infrastructure, getting an accomodation with clean washrooms, warm water & hygienic linen would have been a challenge , if not for this camp. At Pangong, most accommodations are camp-style, this one offered warm blankets, simple & tasty food & hot water in the washrooms . It was very basic but everyone visits here for the view of the Pangong Lake which was breathtaking. We were given the room offering spectacular view of the lake which was a plus. Definitely worth staying for a night!!!

Fell far below our expectations. Mr Vicky Thakur, the Manager gave us some surprises of power being available only 7om to 10/pm. Hot water would run for two hours but run for one hour. Food was unpalatable and service poor. To make things worse, the staff were urging guests to check out by 6 am in view of work.in progress in Changla Pass. This place needs a change of staff and cooks. And for the price we paid wouldn't recommend anybody to stay in this campsite. The only good factor was the view it provided of the lake and the Manager's proactive attitude.
