On first arrival, we were impressed by this property. A short-notice decision for some R&R before getting back to the salt mine for another year. Check in was friendly, albeit slow. Parking on site is free, an expectation but also an increasing rarity these days. The room itself was spacious enough and the design classic but clean and in keeping with the property/style. It always bugs me when you pay luxury rates and there is a completely empty mini bar and snack drawer. COVID can't be the excuse any more. The spa is large and welcoming, but could be a bit warmer. The pool and spa were both warm enough and the gym well equipped. We enjoyed the views from our room and most of the property, including the fire pits to witness a dazzling sunset. Dinner in the Sports Bar (not the restaurant) was extremely delicious - surpassed expectations. However, drink service was beyond slow, we would have had 2x as many rounds if served promptly. Our request for late check out was granted a 15 mins extension, which seemed a bit stingy on a Monday. Our biggest problem - and why we will never return - is that the rooms on the ground floor are basically sharing with the people upstairs. Every step thudded and creaked as if we were in the same space. The old creaky floor boards let our a scream like a cat is stuck between the two floors. When coupled with the lighthouse "boop" every 10 seconds or so, sleep is at a premium. Our neighbors above wanted an early start (and 40 mins of laps around the room for reasons I would love to understand but never will), so we had an early start, too. Something needs to be done about this. Last critique - the beds are super soft, like old school soft. Time for an update. So much potential, such a lovely aspect and outlook in a neat little seaside town, but not sure how to rescue the inter-floor noise without some construction / insulation investment. I suppose this is why they charge more for an upstairs room...…
For pure relaxation and quiet in a beautiful spot, this lodge cannot be beat. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and we loved the decor. Grounds are beautiful and views from all areas of the property are are magnificent.
Beautiful property! Beautiful hotel. It looks like all the rooms have a view of the Bay. There’s a walking path down by the water and to the beach. Nearby birdwatching. The restaurant was outstanding and their wine selection was impressive. Great getaway.
We had a pleasant stay at this hotel a few months ago. The property is well laid out with rooms spread over the resort. The service was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious with a comfortable King-size bed. The bathroom was clean. The balcony was large enough to hold 2 chairs and a small table and had good views of the Bay. The onsite restaurant had a decent selection of main entrees and drinks with both indoor and outdoor seating with fire-pits. Overall I would recommend this hotel for a short, romantic stay.
We had a wonderful experience the Bodega Bay Lodge. The rooms were very cozy and spacious with a fireplace and balcony overlooking the bay. Great location near shops and restaurants. Took a short drive to the Sonoma coast during our stay. Our favorite part of the hotel was the hot tub. It was so relaxing with amazing views.
