Spent 2 nights at the Starlight in late June while exploring the high altitude beauty of the eastern sierra. Was very hot at the time, 104 or 106, but the room was cool and quiet, the cinder block walls have great insulation, also cant hear others or trucks using 395. The new owner, was very helpful, and did whatever he... More

This is a modest hotel that fully lives up to its claims of cleanliness and quiet. However the owner could not have been more generous in making my stay pleasant. He was constantly trying to find ways to help out. I have stayed at hotels at three times the price where customers are ignored but that certainly is not the... More

This motel is just an ordinary motel, noting else. But the man who runs it now (he recently bought the place) is so kind, generous and service minded. We arrived very late and hungry, and he brought us water, soup, fruits and chocolate. We had a very good stay on our way to Yosemite park. / Gunnar

We needed a place to stay between Death Valley and Mammoth lakes, so booked the starlight motel. The owner was very flexible with our late check in, offering food and water and also coming in to check that the air conditioning was working before we settled in,in case we needed to change rooms. In the morning, we were offered granola... More

We needed a place for a one-night stay and felt lucky to get a room in Big Pine. The Starlite turned out to be a very pleasant experience. The host and owner is new to the motel business and does whatever he can to make sure his guests are taken well care of. The rooms are simple but they are... More

I was looking for a place to stay at in big pine because we were planning on hiking up north creek trail. I found out that Starlight motel would accommodate my dog so I decided to give the place a try. It was a lot better than I expected. The rooms were very clean, sheets smelled fresh, and the ac... Starlight Motel is a great choice for a stop on your 395 road trip. Basic motel, clean, comfortable, and with good cable and internet. Tushar is a very friendly and accommodating. Juice, granola bars, and fig newtons for breakfast too. I will stay there again the next time I'm in Big Pine.

Arrive as guests, leave as friends. Yep, that is exactly how it is. Tushar is such a kind gentleman. He really cares about his guests. We usually are sleeping on a mountain in a tent high above the Starlight Motel but recently on a trip to recon some peaks for future climbs we decided to get a room. Well, we... More

My family comes up here several times throughout the year. For the town of Big Pine (and the entire area along Hwy 395), this is as good as it's going to get: clean, quiet, with the added bonus of a nice--new--owner. The price is reasonable. The accommodations aren't off the chart, but they meet the need. As previously mentioned, the... More

The owner/manager was pleasant and welcoming, but very inexperienced. He had recently bought the place. Instead of having posted rates, he haggled for awhile over the phone--which left me distrustful. After I got there, I found the room rates posted in the room were "$45-105," for a single person, but I was charged $124 before taxes. The room wasn't worth... More
