My husband and I, selected the cozy (smallest) cabin Fuzzy Bear, and loved it! It’s close to the highway but the car traffic did not bother us. Being both retired, we travel during the week for short vacations/less crowded everywhere. We had a great time in a great location with great Golden Bear Cottages owner/staff; everyone was friendly. We enjoyed sitting out on the porch having coffee/tea or breakfast. It was nice to prepare our meals in the small but full kitchen that included coffee/condiments. The furniture/bed was comfortable, and the cozy cottage accommodated the two of us just fine. It was nice to have a fireplace for the cold nights. The location is a short walk to the lake and marina and we brought our fold up chairs for visits to the lake. The neighborhood around the lake was great for morning exercise walks. The cottage was rustic along with a few maintenance issues (reported) but very clean and neat, and we loved the floor (no carpet). No closet but hooks and a dresser/drawers that accommodated us just fine. We would return again and recommend the Fuzzy Bear Cottage for two.

Me and my wife love this place. Anytime we come up here it's the only place we stay. This family run business is done right. Lisa and her family treat you just like family. Very helpful,super friendly and down to earth. Cabins are clean comfortable and charming. They have Cabins for every size family even one for up to 50 people I believe. Location is key it's close to the Lake with a boat launch just a block way for lake access. You can access all Big Bear has to offer easley from this property's location. Grocery stores,gas stations,Downtown Big Bear area with plenty of Mom and pop shops, bars,clubs,restaurants, movie theater, fresh beef jerky,candy shops,Locally made beer taverns ect. This spot is bomb believe me and its matched with equally superior customer service.One more thing they also have a nice gift store locatedin the lobby were you can get souvenirs and also fire wood. Because all there Cabins have fire places...Tell em the( Lacy's) sent you. You be so glad you made this choice for your trip up the mountain.

Cute little cottages. Very friendly and helpful staff. Cabins were clean and amenities were nice. Playground, pool, horseshoes, etc. Price was very reasonable especially considering the number of people that the cabins can accommodate. Would definitely stay here again.

The place was cute and we enjoyed the jacuzzi tub, the playground and the pool. It was also nice having parking right in front of our cabin. On the down side, we rented a cabin with "2 Queen beds" that ended up only being 1 queen bed and a futon which was so difficult to lay flat that I never did figure it out. I also didn't like being charged $20 extra for "an additional person". We were 2 adults and a 5 yr old child, renting a 2 queen bed cabin, nothing extra was provided in terms of bedding, so I don't understand the extra charge. Lastly, while they did take precautions related to COVID by having a UV light to disinfect the credit card, the employees doing the check in and check out did not wear masks.

Lisa, the manager called me. She's very nice. It shows how Golden Bear cottage really cares about the property and what people have to say. I had a problem with the WIFI, carpet and beddings. She explained the WIFI was down due to an issue unrelated to the property. The mattress were being replaced by upgrading the old mattresses to a Tempur Pedic mattress for better comfort and sleep. They were starting with the queens first and eventually with the king size beds and eventually work on the floorings as time permits. Golden Bear Cottages has several cabins which are rustic and parking is outside of the cabin which makes it very convenient for families with young children and pets. But remember to call the property first if bringing pets because not all of the cabins are pet friendly (since some people are allergic to dogs), by calling the place first it will save you time, money and heartaches. Although we left the cabin a day early, it was very nice to hear from a manager that truly cares about their customer. Thanks Lisa

Check in at Golden Bear Cottages was completely seamless! The front desk staff was helpful and welcoming. My family and I stayed in cabin #13 we were a large group. The cabin provided 6 beds and 3 bathrooms. Plenty of room for kids to run around and have a blast while adults while adults grilled and relaxed on the picnic tables in large fenced in patio. Kitchen included all amenities including pots, pans, dinnerware, cups and coffee. The location was 5 min drive from The Village and Big Bear Lake which was really convenient. My husband and I enjoyed the off-roading trails of Holcomb Valley only 10 mins away! We opted for a late checkout on Sunday and the owner Don was very hospitable, kind and accommodating. All in all we enjoyed our stay at Golden Bear Cottages and cannot wait to return.

I bought a protection plan after booking with Expedia it said I would get a full refund if I wanted to cancel, When it came down to canceling Expedia told me that the hotel "manager" Lisa said I wouldn't be getting a refund so I decided to contact her myself. I asked her if I could get a refund she then cut me off and said in a very rude way what the dates where I told her and she told me she had already spoke to Expedia about it and I couldn't get a full refund. I told her I had bought a protection plan for that reason and she said we don't offer refunds I don't know what your talking about, I asked to speak to someone else cause she was being extremely rude she than laughed on the phone and said I'm the owner you will get me every time and she laughed very rudely! she is extremely unprofessional and if she is the "owner" she clearly does not care for her customers or business! I will never step foot in this hotel and now I'm stuck paying my hotel stay without even staying because of how uncomfortable she made me feel!!

This guest claimed that she purchased a protection plan from Expedia which we have nothing to do with. I actually have never even heard of that but if that was the case we advised her to deal with Expedia on the matter since we do not offer such insurance. She cancelled within the window of no refunds so that is what Expedia upheld as well. We are unable to change the rules just because someone thinks we should. We have policies that we are expected to uphold and we are sorry for this guests experience with Expedia

The staff was very accommodating, we were upgraded to the 5 bedroom cabin. My grandkids had a great time playing on the grounds. There is a park very close to the cabins, and has a great bike path for the kids. I would recommend staying here.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin with a loft. The cabin was very spacious and had more beds than our family could use. The kitchen was well equipped with kitchenware to use; we made waffles on our first morning there. The staff was friendly. We especially enjoyed the desk and our cabin even had a back patio (we didn't use it). We will definitely be staying there again.

I booked it through Expedia. They overcharged me and didn't refund the deposit even if you canceled it within the free cancellation window. I needed to go through credit card dispute process, They lost it through this initial dispute process but used my card info to charge me twice afterwards. I needed to dispute it again and again.
Of course, Expedia did not help me at all.

When a guest books on Expedia they provide their credit card information. It is used to charge the guests deposit for their stay which the guest agrees to. They also agree to all of our cancellation policies and refund policies before submitting their information. Expedia upholds our policies as well and if a person cancels within the timeframe of no refunds then a rain check is given. If the guest disputes the charge it is upheld by the credit card company because they agreed to pay. There is no stealing of credit card information. It is provided by the guest directly. The guests will be held responsible for the deposit and given the opportunity to use it another time with no expiration.

Honestly, I did seek legal advice on this matter! Your gift certificate is an insult for the mess you caused. And I do have a leg to stand on with the proof I provided. I dont have the time or the energy to fight with you! God has blessed me in better ways and I pray that you will see your wrong doings that you did and are doing to others and will fix it. No on from our company sent a price match email whatsoever. I don’t even know where you are coming up with that information. Interesting enough, you stayed and signed for the $422 which I have all copies of. You then (because of a computer error on an email you claimed to recieve) tried to only pay $91 for your entire stay of 2 nights In a 3 bedroom which you agreed and signed to pay $422. I have every single signed document from you and you used what you paid for. I’ve never seen someone fight so hard to not pay for what they’ve agreed to and used. Your account had been charged back and credited multiple times. All we ask is that you pay for what you agreed to which is $422. Nothing more and nothing less. That by far is nothing but honest and what you agreed to pay. Your credit card company even has noted that you called them to initially authorize the $422 charge. They have sent me documentation attesting to that as well. You stayed and when you stay somewhere you have to pay for what you agreed upon. That’s all we are asking you to do.
Sorry but security deposit was not given after days of calling them in fact we have to dispute to our credit card company.
Also as for carpets. Its really filthy as if you entered a garage service
There was actually no fraudulent charge. The guest that wrote that was upset because an online reservation was made and he was charged for it and said he did not want the reservation. I have refunded that guest for that transaction and cancelled the online reservation. The guest said they would be editing the review to reflect that the situation was taken care of and was not fraudulent. You are safe booking with us, we'd love to have your family stay with us. Rest assured, you will be taken care of and if it makes you feel more at ease, 85% of our guests are repeat guests that come multiple times a year.
