Pineknot (one word) Campground is a small, basic campground just to the east of the Snow Summit ski area in Big Bear Lake, California. The access road is quite hard to find. Enter the Snow Summit parking lot. On your left you will see a red "Yield" triangular sign. Turn just before the sign. Continue ahead and around the S... More

We just returned from a quick weekend camping trip to Big Bear. We stayed on sites 20 & 21 at Pineknot campground and had a great experience. I had booked the two sites so we would be next to each other, but these sites were very far apart. The sites were so clean we didn't have to pick up any... More

If you looking to ride the Snow Summit ski lifts for mountain biking this is a great campground. Literally, right at the bottom of Snow Summit Ski Resort (5min walk). The entrance to the campground is located just to the left of the Snow Summit entrance. There are town-homes and vacation rentals located on that street, but if you had... More

We loved this campground, its location, distance from home, and the genuine mountain feeling. Sites are located amongst the trees but campground is a little tricky to locate. Follow the directions listed on website and do not listen to your GPS or you will be taken on a joyride! You actually drive through the parking lot at Snow Summit to... More

We spent this Memorial Day weekend here and it was fantastic. The campsites are spacious and not too close to the next. The hosts were very friendly too. Although it's close to town it doesn't feel that way once your on the grounds. This was our first visit to Pineknot and we would go back there in a heartbeat.

This campground is alright. I am not sure I will go back and stay here since I know Serrano is right down the road. The site we stayed on was really hilly and bumpy. The bathrooms were not so nice, dirty and old. It is very close to town which is nice.

Almost thought my big tent would not fit the confines of trees, slight slope and fire pit but it did. I did feel a slope while sleeping but made adjustments. This spot is further away from rental apartments but do agree with first comment. It does not put you far away from main city and typical Carl's Jr down the... More

It's lovely to get out of the city for a long weekend. This campground, although not remote or very private, gives you a little taste of what nature has to offer here in California. The campground is clean, well maintained. Bathrooms have running water and shower facilities. The lake is just across the street.

Read many of the reviews about Pineknot Campground before going, but did not know that most of the sites are on a slant. The campground was built on a hill and not on flat ground. This should not make or break your camping trip, but this little bit of information will help to prepare. We had site number 23 and... More

We just spent a couple nights at Pineknot Campground and totally fell in love! This was our first camping experience and we were pleasantly surprised at how much fun we could have. We were lucky to get a spot right by the bathrooms and not too close to some of the other lots. Some of the spots toward the middle... More
