Detailed Reviews
We had the privilege of being the new owners FIRST customers. They are are warm, welcoming couple that were happy to answer all our questions about the area, and give helpful suggestions. they are eager to please and genuinely care about your comfort and satisfaction.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, although we had a really hard time getting the flu in the chimney open (we thought we had and the room still filled with smoke) so i would recommend having them help with that when they show you to your room.
The house was gorgeous and has really cool common areas that include a giant fire place, piano, pool table, kitchen, etc.
Lastly, the food is AMAZING. and they accommodate dietary restrictions.
only issue is, it was not as secluded as we thought. its in the middle of a neighborhood. but a short drive from the lake and lots of cool trails. definite recommend.

I cannot say enough amazing things about this place and Amy & Darin, my goodness what a gem. My husband found Gold Mountain Manor while searching for places in Big Bear online and I have always been a little wary of B&Bs because there's the "run-down/rickety" stigma that us millennials hold about them, but these guys know how to run a B&B and everything is so comfortable and clean and updated!!! I came up here to get away and have a break from my kids for two nights and just relax(which I rarely get to do, come on mamas, you know what I mean, AMIRIGHT or amiright?!) SOOO yah... I had pretty high expectations and what do you know, I was still totally blown away. The rooms are fantastic, so much of the old original historical character but VERY clean and comfortable. My bed was so sturdy and the mattress was great, very well done. The clawfoot bathtub was incredible, and wood burning fire place in my room, splendid! The breakfast is out of this world, their service and attention to detail was so appreciated, the common areas so comfy, and there's a wood burning stove in every room, so it's just the sweetest thing feeling so cozy! Lots of books, DVDs, puzzles and games, a piano and a guitar! The veranda and front yard are so pretty, well kept and quiet. But the most fantastic thing was Amy & Darin's hospitality, they literally have thought of everything and they are so generous and helpful and not in your face in an annoying way, like they're very attentive and willing to chat if you want, but they actually leave you alone to enjoy yourself, too! They just GET it!
Anyone on the fence about this place, DO IT! You won't regret it!

The Gold Mountain is the best choice of big bear. Amy & Darren, the owners are hands on and very detail oriented. I needed Their help planning my partners bday surprise and they made sure all went like planned. We stayed at the Ted Ducey suite and it was full of character and special features, including a hot tube and a fore place ! Highly recommend this spacious room. Breakfast was also made with love and made us feel at home !

Our whole experience at the Gold Mountain Manor was incredible! The hosts are so friendly and made us feel like we were simply staying in a friends home. And what an incredible home it is! Everything had an antique, rustic feel but was superbly clean and comfortable. We slept well each night and enjoyed walking the grounds in the morning while sipping delicious coffee. The 9:00 am breakfast was better than any a hotel could provide, seriously, these people can cook! We stayed in the Clark Gable Standard room this time, but I will be sure to reserve one of the suites next time so that we can bring our two children along. We highly recommend!

This was our first time staying in a B&B and we were completely blown away. The property is immaculately maintained. We stayed in the Cozy Pine Suite which has a huge Jacuzzi tub that came in handy after getting soaked in a summer down pour of rain! The property is very clean, cozy, well equipped with games/pool table/streaming services on the TV. The owner Darrin is so friendly and accommodating. I have dietary restrictions and the staff went above and beyond making me Gluten Free pancakes and Gluten Free Nutella french toast in the mornings! I can go on and on but take my word for it... you will NOT be dissappointed 🙂

The host, hostess, and staff provide a home away from home atmosphere. This is a large old house with a living room, game room, and mini-kitchen for guests. There are multiple bedrooms upstairs along with a Presidents Room (decor) tucked away in a corner and separate downstairs room. This place is ideal for groups traveling together. We came midweek to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in the Presidents room. One other couple was there our first night in the downstairs room. They woke up early to work, and we could hear their phone calls. So don't stay in the Presidents Room if you want quiet. We supposedly had the place to ourselves the second night. Unfortunately for us, the staff turned over the holiday decorations so we were unable to use the communal space. I would recommend this B&B for a family reunion, group getaway, or wedding. It was not ideal for a romantic couples getaway.

Response from Darrin Odell, Owner at Gold Mountain Manor Bed and Breakfast
Responded Jan 7, 2023
We're so sorry that we did not meet your expectations. As it is an old house, it isn't as sound proofed as many modern buildings and sound can carry. We're sorry to hear it was an issue for you. The holiday decorating in our common areas only lasted until 5-6 PM, so you would have had full access all evening. We appreciate the feedback and will definitely make adjustments to ensure we address your concerns.

Our first time to the manor and we were a part of the first customers under new ownership. Our room was clean & cozy, definitely recommend the rooms with a tub! The hosts went above and beyond to ensure our that we enjoyed our stay and answered all of our non-local questions. The homemade breakfast on both days was absolutely delicious with impressive presentation. There is a fun common area to enjoy games and pool table or relax by the fire. Definitely recommend.

If you are looking for a fairytale experience, peace and beauty, please book here! This hidden gem is heaven on earth!
My husband and I were welcomed by the owners of the property Darrin and Amy and were invited to make ourselves at home. Never have my husband and I felt so welcomed as they made us feel. Their sentiment was truly felt in our hearts.
Chef Darrin prepares a breakfast that is absolutely amazing! The breakfast experience is something you shan't ever forget.
I also would like to make mention of the OUTSTANDING staff who go above and beyond to make you feel at home and well taken care of. Kelley has left a lasting impression of kindness in our hearts and we are truly grateful to her.
Kindness is so often rare these days. But here at Gold Mountain Manor Bed and Breakfast it is very much alive and felt. My hope is that you who are deciding on your next vacation will give this magical place a try and experience what my husband and I are still day dreaming about.

This B&B is rustic beauty and luxurious!! We had the most amazing time staying in the Presidential Suite and were lucky enough to have the entire home to ourselves the first 2 of 3 evenings. The stone fireplace and huge jacuzzi tub were heavenly to relax each evening.....and downstairs the game room, snacks of popcorn, hot chocolate, and board games were perfect! The owner Darrin was extremely wonderful and kept in great communication with us. Georgia made us the most devine breakfast of yogurt parfait, cinnamon sugar waffles, sausage and O.J.! We can't wait to come back again and bring friends!
