The Viceroy has been outside my regular rotation of BH hotels for quite some time, but based on the consistently exceptional reviews on this site, I decided to give it a try. I booked a 2-bedroom Icon suite for 2 nights and invited some friends to join me for a quick museum/dining/shopping trip. My arrival began with two filthy red carpets running up the entry staircase -- had someone dripped coffee all over them? Later in the day, I noted the carpets being shampooed, but it was an inauspicious start to my stay. Check-in was rapid and efficient. There's a lot to recommend this property. Commodious suites, monogrammed bed pillows, Natura Bisse bath products, Frette robes, etc. However, the property just has too many shortcomings to award more than 3 stars. For example, I appreciated the complimentary champagne sent by the management, but the flutes were dirty. While, there were two bottles of wine in the mini bar, there was no corkscrew to open them with. Parched, I ordered a bottle from room service only to have the server break the cork, leaving cork residue in the wine. There were two coffee machine in my suite, but I only drink tea and none was to be found. I had to order tea from room service in the morning, but room service doesn't operate 24 hours so I had to wait until 7:00 am to order my tea (I normally awake around 6:00 am). The sofas in the living area were very uncomfortable and the snagged satin pillows made the furniture even less inviting. The suite boasted three balconies overlooking Burton Way, unfortunately the railings were rusted and in need of a paint job. But perhaps the worst aspect of the accommodation (& one noted by everyone in my party) was the highway rest stop quality one-ply toilet paper. This was an unforgivable faux pas and we all ended up using facial tissue. The rooftop pool is a rather sad affair -- a completely forlorn space. Loungers face a wall, there's no view from the pool itself, and an adjacent forgotten area with astroturf had miscellaneous chairs and loungers strewn about haphazardly. I can't imagine why anyone would want to lounge around this pool. We had breakfast both mornings at Avec Nous and I commend Brian, the only staffer, for putting in a yeoman's effort acting as host, server, bus boy, and barista. As is my habit in testing any hotel breakfast kitchen, I ordered the eggs benedict only to be met with total failure. The poached eggs were so overcooked they were almost hard boiled, ruining the dish. Another in my party had the french toast which was fine but the moldy raspberries made the dish very unappealing. Overall this property had too many hiccups to earn a higher rating. Next.....

Dear Irreverent, Thank you for taking the time to leave detailed feedback from your most recent stay. While I am pleased to read about your lovely feedback regarding the spacious accommodations, prompt check in, monogram pillowcases, Natura Bisse bath products, Frette robes, etc. I am disappointed to read about all the shortcoming you experienced. While I do not intend to make excuses, I would like to provide comments regarding feedback left: - We do schedule twice a week cleaning of the carpets and apologize that you must have been exposed during one of the days in between. I will speak to the team on how to better maintain, given the trees that shed berries on a regular basis. - I am pleased you got to enjoy the complimentary champagne, however, do apologize for a dirty glass, I am investigating why this occurred, as our glasses are stocked multiple times daily. - Due to COVID restrictions, our mini bar was recently stocked for the first time since last March. We do usually provide a corkscrew as part of the set-up and apologize that it seems it was missed by our Mini Bar Supervisor. Thank you for the comment, I look forward to using your feedback constructively so to recheck all rooms. - It is correct that we only have Nespresso machines in the room, however we do offer Tea Kettles upon request. I look forward to connecting so I may update your profile to reflect a tea kettle to be placed in your room prior to arrival. - I am pleased to announce that starting next week, our Room Service operation will return to 24 hours, for the first time since March 2020. This will also enable us to return the complimentary Coffee and Tea station in the lobby. - Our furniture in all our rooms are being looked at being replaced in the coming months, so do appreciate the feedback. - My Director of Engineer has already started repainting all balcony rails throughout the hotel, I apologize we had not gotten to the Suite that you stayed in yet. - We use double-ply toilet paper, I am looking into how or why you revied single ply toilet paper, I agree that it would be unacceptable if that was the case. - Our Roof Top area is being completely revamped and look forward to sharing those plans soon. - While I appreciate the kind words about how hardworking Brian is, I will be looking into the culinary experience as clearly, we have felt short on what you ordered and expected. I will share with Brian your kind words. Again, I appreciate your time and effort in leaving detailed feedback, I have already began using it in a constructive manner. I am sorry again we fell short, and I would love the opportunity to speak to you either email or phone at your convenience. I can be reached at +13103855301 or scott.berger@viceroylermitage.com Sincerely, Scott Berger

We had an amazing stay at this hotel. This was part of our honeymoon trip and the staff was able to make it very special for us. Firstly we were sent chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne on ice after we checked in to our room. The room itself was spacious, clean and all in all a beautiful hotel room. We had an issue with our original room at no fault of the hotel and we were promptly upgraded to larger suite by the best hotel manager I have ever met, Scott Berger. Scott and the staff provided some of the best service I've ever experienced. They were always glad to help and even provided car rides to our destinations and offer restaurants recommendations. The hotel stay was a great experience and we look forward to being back in the future.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We got in late at night, and the valet was super helpful, despite the fact that he was doing everything on his own. He worked up a sweat! Giant room (thanks to upgrade from AMEX bus plat), super comfortable. My wife the decor was too modern, but I loved it. I'd definitely go back.

This hotel has an excellent staff, courteous, helpful, efficient and clearly intent on ensuring each guest feels welcome and well cared for. The rooms are exceptionally large, beautifully decorated...the dressing and bath area are huge and just beautiful, with special features such as a mirror which lets you see a 360 degree, head to toe, view of yourself, and a make-up area which lets you select the type of lighting in which you will be seen. The Chief Concierge was excellent, arranging a private tour for us and obtaining reservations at the current 'in' restaurants. She followed up with excellent communication regarding the details of what she had arranged, and always asked if the experience met our expectations. Front Desk staff made us feel welcome and well cared for throughout our stay. It was a pleasure to see them when departing and returning to the hotel each day. We highly recommend this hotel, which is well placed in Beverly Hills for all one would want to see and do...and will definitely make this our home for future trips. No negatives to offer...especially as lock-down rules are being relaxed or eliminated...allowing the hotel to provide even more services to delight their guests.
