If I could give it negative stars, I would. I will definitely call their corporate office on Tuesday to file a formal complaint. I got two rooms last night (Aug 31-Sept 1) for my friends and my family. It was put under my name, and my husband's name. It was my husband's 30th birthday and we got an events place nearby, so to save the hassle of driving back, we just reserved the two rooms. My other family members also booked two rooms, apart from ours-totally separate but this will later on be substantial to my story. After my husband's party, we left to go back to La Quinta and my friends decided to have people over to continue the party. It was our fault, they were kinda loud. However, it does not merit the action of their security. Firstly, my sister in law which was totally separate from the rooms I reserved was using the elevator to go up to second floor and the security guard told them "you can't use the elevator." So they were like "why?" He said "you just can't" And I KID YOU NOT, the security guard named Freddie told my sister who was COMPLETELY sober "I hate d*** drunks. F**** drunks" and two people heard it. Of course my sister retaliated and said "Excuse me sir, I'm not f***ing drunk. I'm f***ng stone cold sober. please shut up." and this ticked him off. Then,Freddie waited outside of the room where my friends were staying at and waited for us to all get in. After a couple of mins they called my friends room which was put under my husband's name WHO WASNT EVEN THERE. They said "we need *husband* to come down, we need to talk to him." So, I went down and asked what the problem was. I talked to Freddie and Zee, who was the front desk staff working. They said "Everybody in that room needs to leave. They need to vacate the room, we had noise complaints, and the woman cussed at me." I was like okay, so I made the people who came leave. I DIDNT UNDERSTAND that they actually want my friends who rented the room for the night to leave. not even a warning. Just a simple, "you need to leave" WHAT KIND OF MANAGEMENT IS THAT. So i went back to our other room with my in laws and my husband to sleep. My friends called me and said "We left because they told us if we don't they'll call the police." Fast forward... This is really crazy. We were dead asleep and the incident already happened 20 mins. They called my other family members, WHO WEREN'T even under my reservation and asked for their CC's to charge them 250 dollars for damaging the room my friends were in. (We had catered food and we had containers left so they brought them in their room) they spilled some of it. They told them that they need a cc. Of course they were baffled and went to me. When this was all happening, we were inside the room sleeping. So my other family members told me they're asking for it and to save from all the hassle, i said just take mine and I will deal with it tomorrow. It was 2 AM. And it doesn't stop there. After another 5 mins, we thought everything was okay. The security called our room again asking for my signature. I said "just keep my cc.I will sign it tomorrow" done. We hung up. I want to stress out, WE WERE ALL SLEEPING when this was happening. Lights off and everything. Freddie called our room again and said "we need your husband to leave. You don't understand they damaged our property. Our property is damaged" THERE WAS FOOD SPILLAGE NO DAMAGE TO YOUR PROPERTY. Can you please elaborate and learn your vocabulary. So i woke my in laws up, my husband, and decided to leave. I am still in disbelief. These employees, Freddie and Zee should get fired. The way they talk to their customers is shocking. First, i truly feel like my friends shouldn't have gotten kicked out. They should have received a warning before kicking them out. No one was belligerent, loud, or argumentative. They're not rockstars, they're Their guests and they did not damage the property. Secondly, they should not have bothered my other family members to ask for their CC, they could have called my room. Thirdly, why was my husband even involved in this when he was sleeping the whole night. They didnt just leave him alone, they kicked them out and threatened to call the police. You should not threaten your guests. I get it they were loud, but the actions done by the freddie and Zee were totally inappropriate. anyway, i'll file a complaint to their corporate office on Tuesday.

Dear Danielle, First allow me to thank you for choosing the La Quinta in Berkeley; we truly value all of our guests, including you. We are very sorry for the incident in which you were involved with this past weekend. I did complete my investigation this morning after a third guest approached me unsolicited to speak with me about that evening. It appears there are differences between your story and the story of our staff and many other hotel guests that were unfortunately affected by your guests that evening. I am not going to write a redaction to every point you made here but please know that you brought in approximately 12-15 unregistered guests after midnight to continue a party, these guests were very loud, some very intoxicated and some not the most pleasant to our staff. These individuals were roaming the halls, knocking on other guests’ doors and being unruly. After two requests to be quiet they were asked to leave. After our staff inspected the vacated room they observed your guests had taken two full trays of food and had dumped them in the middle of each bed in the room, ruining almost $360 in linen. Our staff then trying to find the person whose name was on the evicted room was given misinformation and runaround from other members of your group and they finally led to the room you were in. These were your rooms, these were your guests, and you are adults and need to be responsible for your actions and the actions of your guests. You were not asked to leave that evening but you were asked to take care of the situation that you created. You smear our staff but do you know they took a beating from the rest of the hotel over the guests you decided to bring here. Your guests ruined the night of many of our guests; my staff was able to save the relations with the majority of them. The poor language used by my staff will be handled internally and swiftly, but speaking with the other guests who witnessed the events that evening I was told my staff was very calm and very respectful. Please understand that no one wanted this night to end this way and we wish you the best in the future albeit at a different hotel. Sincerely, Matt

Very disappointed with the service after a problem was reported. We had to notify the front desk three different times of the blood stained sheets and finally we got someone to come to the room only to have attitude with having to service the room.

Our car was keyed all around the car while we parked at this hotel. We twice went up to the front desk to discuss the problem with the hotel but they don't seem to care and asked we speak to the manager. However, the manager is never there even during the regular business hour. Long story short we end up pay money to have the car repaired. I would think twice about staying at this hotel again. Should have listen to my wife and stay at Hyatt Place instead.

My family and I stay in this hotel, the outside appearance wasn't the best but we were pleasantly surprised once we walked in. The check in are is not that big but it was really good customer service and fast check in/out process. We enjoyed the breakfast a lot and the seating area was comfortable. I loved the wheelchair lift in the pool area.

We needed a "modern" motel/hotel with free breakfast near UC Berkeley. I was a little disappointed about the hallways on the first floor. Granted, this is an older hotel that has been "updated", but I don't like to see electrical conduit on the ceilings of the hallways. I guess they had to do it to upgrade the fire alarm, but it is all over the place. Second issue: The first floor has about 8 steps up to the hallway, so you have to drag your suitcase up the 8 stairs. Again, this is something left over from the upgrade.
