This is an extraordinary opportunity to experience a beautifully designed space, with every original element kept intact. Don't miss the Moorish swimming pool, the game gallery behind the central atrium, the Mission style breakfast room, and a library area on second floor. Bedrooms with 20's bathrooms are cozy and comfortable. Some with extra beds are quite large.

To update some of the reviews that show up near the top, the City Club now has WiFi in all the rooms and provides complete toiletries. City Club is a historic building maintained by a non-profit foundation that does not have millions of dollars to pour into a complete renovation. One stays there for the convenience to campus or to...

My wife and I spent a night here recently. Parking was easy in the adjacent lot. Check-in was also easy. The building is an old treasure, designed by Julia Morgan, the designer of Hearst castle, among other famous buildings. The mattress sagged but otherwise the room was adequate, although plain. No TV, or other modern amenities in the room, which...

The reason I emphasize OLD, because it is. WE normally don't stay on Old hotels because we don't like them. And to be perfectly honest we wouldn't have stayed here if it hadn't been close to our nieces home. She recommended it. The hotel is ok but the beds are only queen size, the rooms noisy, especially the bathroom door...

Dear Ahtram56, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. We certainly recognize that the temperatures that you experienced are not characteristic for the Bay Area this time of year. Beautiful historic hotel moments from u.c. Berkeley. Tons of character, friendly staff and close to museums and food. It was nice to not have t.v. in the room! Internet worked great! Had dessert in the hotel restaurant, pricey but good!

This hotel has wonderful sense of history, and beautiful views from the 6th floor, and convenient location if visiting UC Berkeley. However, those are far outweighed by the terribly worn furniture, uncomfortable bed, and lack of amenities. This "four star hotel" feels more along the lines of an upscale hostel. I wish I had better things to say about this...

We were recently in Berkeley for a family wedding and took the opportunity to return to the City Club. It had been a few years since our first stay, and we enjoyed it even more this time. The public areas are beautiful and unique. Our upper floor room was reasonably large for a hotel with this history. The bed was...

My partner and I stayed in this landmark hotel for a week. We loved its location close to the UC Berkeley campus and an easy walk to restaurants or shops. Our room was simple and very comfortable even with no TV, which is in keeping with the spirit of the place. There were fresh flowers everywhere and lovely courtyards to...

Please be aware that this is a historical place and it's kept in that way: No tv's, no A/c. The place is beautiful, gorgeous but the scent in rooms is too strong, mattress is covered in plastic (like a crib mattress) and worn out, my back is killing me. Not returning here.
