The Back Bay Inn is a waterfront Inn located in Baywood Park/Los Osos on the Central Coast of California in San Luis Obispo County, midway between Los Angeles & San Francisco. It is a pretty, tranquil spot and our guests call it the perfect "getaway". The rooms in the Main Building overlook the water and the hills of our wonderful State Park, Montana de Oro. Complimentary breakfast is served at our popular Back Bay Cafe. Our restaurant, Blue Heron, is open Thursday through Monday nights from 4 to 9pm. A short stroll away is the Audubon Sweet Springs Bird Sanctuary. The busy waterfront of Morro Bay is a 5 mile drive from the inn, and wineries can be found near San Luis Obispo and in the North County. The Back Bay Inn is the perfect base camp for hiking, biking, bird watching and other adventures or just to sit back and watch the changing of the tides!

We love the Inn, Great Breakfasts, and wine and cheese. Next time I will bring our Bocce Balls and play on the lawn. This is our 3rd stay at the Inn. Prefer a small Inn, instead of the big chains in Morro Bay.

Peaceful, blissful, quiet., next to Morro bay. Loved the surrounding natural beauty, the small village atmosphere by the beach, the friendly, caring staff of this picturesque place. Outstanding experience! The bay seemed to wash away all worries.

If you don’t like dealing with hearing other people’s noise, including being able to hear their entire conversations through the walls, don’t stay here. Period full stop. If you don’t mind, you’ll love it here. Gorgeous views, decent accommodations, run by friendly folks. But omg so noisy.

This Inn is located right on the bay. The gardens are well kept. Our room was large and comfortable and it had a great view. There were a few restaurants within walking distance. The staff were friendly and competent. We left a phone charger in the room and they promptly sent it back to us. (Thank you.)There were choices for breakfast which we ate in our room because it was too cool to eat in the beautiful gardens. This is a great area for birdwatching. We felt safe regarding the virus there because the Inn was so clean and there was plenty of space on the grounds.

We stumbled upon the Back Bay Inn and only got to spend one night, but enjoyed our brief stay. We had a bay-front room on the ground floor, which opened onto the lawn and boardwalk along the shore, so it wasn't terribly private. But for privacy there are rooms facing a garden in back. And we enjoyed a glass of wine sitting in comfortable lawn chairs and watching the owners and dogs out for their evening stroll, as well as watching birds and the quiet bay.

We were warmly greeted at check-in and provided vouchers for breakfast at the Bay Back Cafe for each morning of our stay. Our spacious room, one of 23, was situated on the second floor and included a king-size bed, fireplace, refrigerator and a semi private deck overlooking the beautifully tendered gardens that were often alive with monarch butterflies and hummingbirds. The large windows to the rear of our room provided an excellent view of the bay including numerous brown and white pelicans, a variety of shorebirds and an osprey surveying its hunting grounds from atop a tree. Included in the room rate is a nightly help-your-self wine reception that included a trio of wines plus olives and bread sticks. One evening while enjoying a glass of wine on the patio we met the owner, Bill, who was very cordial and explained how he had just purchased an additional 100 plants to enhance the already beautiful gardens throughout the property. Breakfast at the Bay Back Cafe was very good though the number of choices are somewhat limited. There is also a fine dining restaurant, Blue Heron, on the property that has a spacious patio where we dined twice during our four night stay. In summary, we were very happy with the service, room quality and amenities.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful Back Bay Inn. The Inn itself is lovely. The room was vert clean and had all that we needed. We stayed in a second floor room and it was very spacious with spectacular views. The Inn provides complimentary breakfast at their cafe next door (which was healthy and delicious) along with wine and snacks in the evening. The location is ideal whether you're looking to get away to relax or venture out and explore. Jess, the host during our stay, was super friendly, loaded with information and made our stay extra special. Thank you Back Bay Inn, we plan to see you again soon!!

Such a quaint, hidden gem of a place that feels like you truly got away from it all. Great, open spaces for kids but look out for some older guests who didn't seem to think that kids belonged there since it a small, intimate place but I don't put that on the hotel at all. We loved this spot. Bring a sweatshirt though as I never thought it got that chilly but I was loving it!

Ah hell, I really don’t want to write this review because I want the Back Bay Inn to stay a hidden gem but alas, the cat’s out of the bag. The BB Inn is magical, a gorgeous waterfront inn hugging the shoreline on the back bay. My wife and I have been coming here almost twenty years now and we’ve seen how the new owner has really invested in the property. Now there’s an on-site restaurant (just opened), and they’ve expanded the number of rooms. I strongly suggest one of the rooms with a lanai facing the water, the views are unparalleled. They keep meticulous care of the flora on the property, so I’m sure the garden rooms are fine but be money, go for money, treat yourself to the water view you deserve it! The BB Inn is a short drive from Old Creek road which is a great route to take into wine country if you don’t mind winding roads. We love the Back Bay Inn and will continue going there for years to come.
