The Back Bay Inn is a waterfront Inn located in Baywood Park/Los Osos on the Central Coast of California in San Luis Obispo County, midway between Los Angeles & San Francisco. A picturesque, tranquil spot and our guests call it the perfect "getaway". The rooms in the Main Building overlook the water and the hills of our wonderful State Park, Montana de Oro. Complimentary breakfast is served at Nautical Bean, the onsite cafe. A short stroll away is the Audubon Sweet Springs Bird Sanctuary. The busy waterfront of Morro Bay is a 5 mile drive from the inn, and wineries can be found near San Luis Obispo and in the North County. The Back Bay Inn is the perfect base camp for hiking, biking, bird watching and other adventures or just to sit back and watch the changing of the tides!

Detailed Reviews
We visited Back Bay Inn for 2 nights on the recommendation of a friend who had previously visited. We were very pleased. We had a very large, corner room with a view of the bay and sunset. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom pretty large and there was a lot of space to place suitcases and hang up clothing. There is wine and light snacks available each evening and several places to sit outside of the room. We were given coupons of $7.00 each to use at a coffee shop that is essentially on the property. The food there is very good as is the coffee. There were lots of places to sit outside and eat. We did that once and on another morning brought the food back to our room as there was a small table and 2 chairs. The persons at the front desk were friendly and welcoming. The hotel is nicely situated near the Paso Robles wine country and near a lovely state park. We would stay here again for sure.

This Inn is located right on the bay. The gardens are well kept. Our room was large and comfortable and it had a great view. There were a few restaurants within walking distance. The staff were friendly and competent. We left a phone charger in the room and they promptly sent it back to us. (Thank you.)There were choices for breakfast which we ate in our room because it was too cool to eat in the beautiful gardens. This is a great area for birdwatching. We felt safe regarding the virus there because the Inn was so clean and there was plenty of space on the grounds.

Beautiful setting waterfront on the bay, surrounded by a lush garden and walkable to nearby food and drink. Rooms are large, mine had a fireplace, plus they do free cocktail hours for all guests each afternoon. Jamie Dcott is the new general manager and she was extremely helpful with our plans for the area and a very special person. All of the staff we met there were friendly and really seemed to enjoy their work. Loved it!

If you don’t like dealing with hearing other people’s noise, including being able to hear their entire conversations through the walls, don’t stay here. Period full stop. If you don’t mind, you’ll love it here. Gorgeous views, decent accommodations, run by friendly folks. But omg so noisy.

The staff bent over backwards to try to accommodate some special needs for us. We are so appreciative! We were in town to help care for our daughter post-surgery and the staff even picked some flowers from the property for us to bring to her!! The room was large and the setting very private and relaxing. Nearby restaurants were very convenient.

It was our third visit to the Back Bay Inn. It’s right on the bay with beautiful views of the bay and surrounded by lovely gardens. You get vouchers for breakfast at Nautical Bean right on the property. It’s very peaceful and quiet. The rooms are clean and have new bathrooms.

Peaceful, blissful, quiet., next to Morro bay. Loved the surrounding natural beauty, the small village atmosphere by the beach, the friendly, caring staff of this picturesque place. Outstanding experience! The bay seemed to wash away all worries.

Excellent...Excellent Excellent
Everyone should take a weekend away at the Bay Back Inn. Beautiful weather, wonderful food, the friendliest, best staff. The beds are comfortable. Coffee and breakfast were perfect. La Palapas, across the street was yummy. Montana de Oro is so much fun. Just don't take our weekend. A magical place. Just what we needed to end the summer.

We considered a multi-night, mid-January stay in Morro Bay, but the town was a bit too "busy" for us. A ten minute drive around the bay took us to the town of Baywood Park and the Back Bay Inn. All thirteen of the rooms featured either a balcony or a large window facing the bay, great for birdwtching along the flyway. Our room was large, and featured a king bed, gas fireplace, and a full bath. The in-room coffee pot got us started each morning. A short time later, a beautiful basket of fruit, baked goods and juice arrived at our door. If there was one short coming with the room it was it's relatively thin walls. We often heard the neighbors, but not to the point of a lack of sleep. The staff guided us to the town's Farmers Market, the amazing cliffs of Montana de Oro state Park, and excellent dining at Mare Blu Ristorante, all worth a visit.

This is a small, contemporary, beautifully landscaped 2-story inn located directly on an inlet of Morro Bay. Our first floor room with its own covered patio had huge windows looking out on lawn and inlet, and we thrilled at the peacefulness and beauty of this place. As the tide receded each day, hundreds of birds of all sorts swooped down and skittered along the newly exposed banks, and we watched their antics in fascination. Our room with king size bed was attractive and comfortable, and we were surprised and very pleased to find a basket of delicious muffins, fruit and orange juice delivered to our door each morning. We had our breakfast out on the patio, augmented by coffee from our in-room coffee maker. We'd planned to make this our base for touring the area, which we did, but really we hated to leave it each day! We visited in January, during a cold, rainy period, and still had a great time. It must be absolutely incredible during the rest of the year.

We would recommend the Cottage for your group.
I never missed that. If it's not big enough for laps, it's useless for me. This quiet getaway is great. The little breakfast shop wit lattes and scones they make is the best freshest breakfast made to order.
Yes we have 3 pet friendly rooms, room 115 on the water, the Cabana a stand alone unit and garden room 304, non view room . For pictures and details please go directly to our web site.Hope to see you soon!

Innkeeper
If you are staying in the Loft, there is a washer and dryer in this room. However, although we do not have laundry facilities on our property, there is a laundromat a couple of blocks down from the Inn.
We have two units with two beds, only one of them is available on the 22nd. It is called the Loft, open space no dividing walls with King and Queen bed.We don't have any units with two beds on the 23rd. Please feel free to call us if you have questions or need more details.
Thank You
