We spent 7 days in the honeymoon suite oceanfront room. It was fantastic! Huge room and terrace with awesome views of the ocean. Staff throughout the hotel were so friendly and helpful, couldn’t be better . One day our shower drain clogged the maintenance were there in literally 5 minutes to fix it . The grounds were so beautiful and well kept ! The beach was fantastic always cleared of seaweed . Only keeping it from 5 stars the food was average, breakfast was very good but other meals average . Drinks though were great ! All in all we would definitely return.
We were there Aug 1 - 8th in Room 2102 which is a single story Terrace Suite with Plunge Pool and we had the most amazing week. We're a mid 50's couple who have extensive experience in 5* all-inclusives and I can honestly say this resort is amazing!!! Pros: - Gorgeous enormous rooms with many Pool options - swim ups, plunge pools, rooftop pools etc. I've never seen a resort with so many rooms have a "pool" of some sort available. Our room was in perfect condition - never had any issues with AC, shortage of fluffy towels, toiletries, etc. Bed was super comfy; Maid service was excellent - fridge and coffee pods were filled and abundant. - Excellent quality food/restaurants (can't speak to the house wine quality as we always bring our own wine - better quality to our tastes, less expensive than buying there) - Excellent service everywhere - Lovely beach (we were lucky to have a few days with no/minimal seaweed) - Soundproofing - our room was right above the theatre and with the patio doors closed with could not hear a thing!!!!! We were shocked........ Cons: - Only one main pool and it's not very big, hence after lunch it's packed and really loud/roudy. We wish there would have been a quieter section of the pool to hang out - so we hung out at the beach the majority of the time - The only evening bar to hang out at after 11PM in the Martini Bar which is indoors - we would have preferred/enjoyed an outside bar....coming from (cold) Canada we prefer to be outdoors as much as possible regardless of the heat. - I felt like the Lobster House and Oregano restaurants both could have had a bit more ambience/decor....lighting slightly dimmed? Tablecloths? Not sure but everytime we ate there (food is delicious by the way) I just felt like the ambience could have been nicer/better/more romantic, etc. Honestly had a wonderful experience and will DEFINATELY return - am already planning on booking our return trip for next year. Go.....you won't be disappointed…
Overall the resort isn’t bad and is very pretty. I do feel as though the service was very slow and hard to come by sometimes. Compared to excellence playa mujeres it’s really lacking. Excellence club wasn’t really worth the extra money. Got better service at the pool than we did in excellence club area of the beach. Food it’s self was so-so somewhat bland plenty of options though best restaurant was oregano. Best waitress by the pool was brigida. I doubt that I would return to this location maybe try the other excellence in punta Cana.
great service, property was clean and kept up. Rooms nice. Consider carefully if you pay extra for ocean view as it is a small tiny view. Ocean front is truly that but Ocean View was not worth extra money. we could barely see it from our balcony due to buildings trees and the distance away. Back to the room, There is an amazing huge walk in closet to hide all your clothes and suitcases. Its bigger than i have at home. Loved it. But my biggest complaint is the set up of the bathroom and shower. There is no privacy for toileting or showering. The toilet room door does not go floor to ceiling so everything echoes in the entire room. That was not my biggest concern tho. There is no private shower area. The shower is right by the entrance door to the room and it is clear glass. You cannot shower privately from your roommate or really anyone walking into the room, maids, maintenace, friends with keys etc. I struggled with this and really really did not like that feeling of vulnerability But i know not everyone is worried about those things. The staff were amazing and kind. You will want to bring more US dollars maybe then you were planning too. Tips go fast and the stores on site will not allow room charges. by the way, a small bottle of SPF 4 tanning oil was $37.50 USD. dont' forget your sunscreen folks. Had an amazing spa experience. Best one ever. Favorite staff were: Junior69 and his team for entertainment. Rosemary at the Spa and Esteffani for pool service and Charlie for beach service., we loved all the employees but these four went above and beyond. …
Went with a big group of friends (~50). ROOMS - Really impressive. Clean, spacious. Every room had it's own jacuzzi tub (though the jets in my room didn't work). I booked a swim up room, had access to a pool and a personal deck with a few chairs. Never used it though, always ended up at the main pool. But the rooms themselves would score a 5. NIGHT LIFE - Also impressive. Lots of shows. Silent Disco is a blast. Also a small night club for dancing. Lots of live music. Also a 5. RESTAURANTS - Quite a few to choose from. Good variety, but portions were small, food was so-so but didn't get to try every restaurant. Heard Spice was very good. Mexican restaurant wouldn't seat us, was confusing. Got a steak at the Grille which wasn't great. Breakfast buffet was really good, but they won't let you take food back to your room and room service at breakfast was so-so. Would say 3. DRINKS / SERVICE - Good variety, staff serving drinks at the pool and bars were great. BEACH - Didn't lay out on the beach, but walked a few miles every day. A string of resorts, so safe during the day to walk along the ocean. Some areas where you'll get panhandlers but they aren't too aggressive. When we were there, outside of our friend group, it was majority couples. For singles, much more females than men. My understanding is that it's adult only (didn't see kids).…
We had a great time celebrating our 20 year anniversary at Excellence El Carmen. It was so relaxing and romantic. Top notch service! From being “welcomed home” by Edwin and Raphael as soon as we got there with champagne to Junior and his fun activities and Manuel giving the best service in The Grill and The Kitchen Table, we would go back in a heartbeat!
We had a wonderful time at El Carmen. The staff is extremely helpful. Junior hosted wonderful events like Cigar Rolling and paella cooking. The room service was prompt and the beds were so comfortable. We were able to get wonderful extras for our honeymoon!
We absolutely loved our experience! The staff was so friendly! The daily activities and entertainment provide a ton of variety and really make the experience feel like an adventure. The only complaint was we could not stay longer!
Excellence is such a great hotel - came with my friend for a postpartum getaway. Spanish lesson with JUNIOR was so fun and a great host for the shows and kareoke! The cocoloco drinks are delicious. Remember to bring your own straws and cups to keep your drinks cold! Also hibachi is so good!!
The hotel is beautiful and the service is 5 stars. Junior had great energy and got everyone involved in the games and entertainment at the pool. The shows at night were all a lot of fun and great Enterainment during our stay. Would come back!
