Fjodor's and Nataly's guest house is a special place. They built it themselves with a great eye for details and put a lot of heart in caring about their visitors. The Banja Russka Sauna hut is an extra treat that you shouldn't miss. The guest house is located in close proximity to the lake and there is a great ski ressort nearby. Nataly will help you with whatever plans you have. Highly recommended!

We stayed here three nights and really enjoyed the time. The kitchen is only for the guests and everything is very clean. The hosts are around the house every morning and evening. We got great advices for planning the days and they did the laundry for us at a very good price. Both take the guests to baikalsk and many other places by car. The baikal lake is in walking distance, about 10 minutes. Our Highlight was the banja-experience. The russian sauna next to the guest house was extremely relaxing and just wonderful. Thank you for everything!

If you want to experience the real Russia go here. We had a wonderful three nights. Not a lot to do but worth it to get away from the train and the city and relax. We took the mini van from Irkutsk, easy and clean for about $3 each! Nataly will help you with day trips, and anything you need. She speaks English very well. (Take a little treat for her two daughters-about 4 &7, if you can and art supplies for Nataly would be appreciated, she has talent!) We took a day trip on the local train to Sludvanka to see the Mineral Museum, worth it, and I'm not that interested in rocks. Nice little town to walk around. The train conductor jokingly scolded us for not buying round trip tickets in the morning but we did not know how to ask! A good laugh for all. I'm sorry we did not go on to Baikalsk, about 10 km away, would have been fun to see. ABSOLUTELY indulge in the banya/sauna at the guesthouse. An authentic experience and you will feel so clean and refreshed after it. We only ate at the little truck stop across the street. Even as a vegetarian it was fine. I think we took our own breakfast supplies. If you want big city this is not for you. If you want an authentic quiet getaway this is wonderful. Locals come here for the ski area in the winter. One of the highlights of our 3 weeks in Russia.

Siberia was for us a mythological destination, vast and misterious so we decided to go to know the true Russia. For luck wee found Fedorov's and was great. As we realized almos nobody speaks english in russia specialy in the countryside destinations but, Natali, our host, wife of Fedorov, speaks a perfect English and has a well detailed info board and plans for excursions and activities on the Baikal area. So we did a baikal lake boat excursion, a visit to Arshan , close to Mongolia, house of the Buriats, and the best they have a special sauna hut to experience the real Russian Banya.

We wanted to get away from The city of Irkutsk and Listvyanka tourist scene and this was perfect. 2.5 to 3 hour trip from Irkutsk. Natalya is a very giving and patient hostess, the guest rooms are immaculate. She gave instructions and directions for us to catch a public mini bus from Irkutsk and train to nearby Sludvanka. (Be sure to go to the mineral museum there.) Utulik was quiet and off the tourist track (as in not a lot to do) but we felt we had seen the real Russia. Also you absolutely MUST do the Russian banya at the guesthouse. A little pricey but well worth it for the experience. A full evening of enjoyment. Cafe Polinka across the road was better than I expected with a few choices for a vegetarian. Would love to hang out at F.D. Guesthouse in the winter. Thank you Natalya and Fedor for a wonderful getaway.
