Cannot say enough great things about this resort. The grounds are great, clean, and elegant. My wife and I have been here too many times to count and we will continue to visit. It is like our second home.
Beach area is great and they do a wonderful job keeping up with it. O

This was our 4th visit back to this area but our first visit at the Valentin Imperial. What a beautiful resort. It was our first at an adult only and it was a game changer...trust me, we love kids but we've raised ours and wanted something quieter.
We loved the location of our

It’s hard to pick a vacation using reviews, but if this place had any bad ones, they can’t be satisfied. They worked hard on appearance and even harder if something was wrong. Too many friendly staff to name them all. Shows were fun, remember they aren’t professionals. With all o

Just got back from our 3rd trip to the Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya. The resort is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the drinks are top shelf, but what makes this resort exceptional is the STAFF. They go above and beyond in everything they do. We must give a special than

I was wondering if you could tell me how much you paid for the room upgrade? This will be our third time to this resort and we always upgrade the room with our travel agent but this year the silver room was sold out. Thanks for your help. :) Wass
We purchased the swimout ocean front, no upgrade for us either.

Didn't upgrade and was glad I didn't, loved our ground floor where the wee cotys came into the garden and would try to break in and steal food, loved them

There has been claims recently concerning tainted alcohol at Mexican resorts. Is this a concern?
I assumed this is where you were heading with your last question. A couple of years ago, a girl drowned at a resort (not this one). It is repeatedly rehashed on the forums. Brother and sister found in the pool, after dark and it was closed. Parents allege "tainted alcohol", but news reports state her BAC was .25 and her brothers were .26. Sorry, that's not tainted, that over consumption, being absolutely lit. More than 4times the legal limit here in the US. They did a some inspections and found some "illicit" alcohol, not tainted at 4 locations I believe, these included bars in town, not just the resort. This is generally alcohol that does not have the tax stamps. Not tainted. Think Moonshine and bootleggers for comparison. My personal opinion is that if there was "tainted" alcohol, every single person that had a drink from that bottle would be affected. Not just these two very young adults, she was 20 and he was 22. It's possible someone could put something in you drink if you were not paying attention to it, but this could easily be another guest. If you are not used to drinking, the effects can hit you hard. If you are tired, are dehydrated, haven't eaten, these will all play a factor as well. I have not read a single comment that mentions any problems at the VIM with quality of alcohol. Drinking too much is a different story. And I've had my fair share of their bottled supply. Use caution just as you do at home, if you do at home. Don't leave drinks unattended. Don't put yourself in a blackout drunk. Even if you have someone to get you back to your room, you're going to pay tomorrow and why be so drunk you forget your wonderful vacation days. Alcohol is freepoured, not measured, so drinks can be potent. Lot's of people do shots. You can be over the limit before you even realize it.

Should I be exchanging my USD cash for Pesos? And if so, where would be a good place to do that? We are staying at this resort later this week and plan to do the normal tourist things like snorkeling and probably going into town a bit. Also should tipping be done in USD or Pesos?
Adding that if you use USD to pay and have change coming back, say it's $5 and you give them a $20, you are most likely going to get the change back in pesos. You will also better deals if you pay in pesos. Many times the price for USD is significantly higher

Could anyone tell me the name of the Chilean house merlot served at the Valentin?
I don't know the name of the wine but it was delicious. You can email guest services at the resort and they will be able to tell you for sure.
