This review is entirely negative. I am writing this directly to point out flaws in this hostel that any hostel owner should know (they should know their customers) and provide to their guests. Below are all basic requirements that the hostel missed the mark on. 1. ONLY TWO ELECTRICAL SOCKETS in the eight person room. For those who want to... More

Hi Lezulee, I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed about our infrastructure, we've spent many years developing the Hosteltrail to meet the needs of today's backpackers and it's unfortunate you feel we've let you down. I just wanted to clear up a couple of points that your raised - first off, we have two separate internet connections and a number... More

Had a lovely time in popayan, the friendly host introduced us to good restaurants, gave excellent information regarding the best activities around! He even helped us planning our next destination! Just go there, you'll love it!

I struggled a little with the layout of the place as it is hinged around two opposing staircases. However, if you're happy to climb up and down these flights a fair few times then you will get on well enough here! The staff are friendly, especially the lovely lady in the kitchen. Breakfast costs extra but is well worth it.... More

We stayed here for two nights on route from Columbia to Ecuador. 10 min walk from the bus terminal and close to the historic centre. No taxi was needed. Clean, tidy hostel, staff were friendly with some English. Showers warmish, but don't bank on it being warm. The road noise from this hostel was very loud, it was hard to... More

Fantastic hostel in the historical centre of Popayan. The staff were lovely and the hostel was immaculate. Great kitchen facilities and lots of travel information available. We did the downhill mountain biking which was a lot of fun! We also were able to leave our big backpacks at the hostel while we did a few nights in San Agustin. Wifi... More

Excellent location close to the bus station and centre of town. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The company offers a range of very excellent tours. This hostel is located next to a very busy road junction, the noise even with the windows closed is absolutely appalling! The kitchen and bathroom facilities are often occupied due to the number of... More

We enjoyed our stay here and rooms were comfortable and clean. Main issue with the room was street noise, even with windows and shutters closed the traffic outside was so so noisy. The staff are very helpful and friendly and they organise day trips. The communal kitchen is well equipped if you want to save some money on eating out... More

Popayan is a nice town & good base to visit san agustin too. Staff at the hostel are helpful organising plans and trips and information boards have all info you need on the surrounding area. I left my luggage here for 2 nights to go to san agustin and stayed again when I came back. Hoteltrail is well thought out... More

We stayed at hostel trail on the back of good reviews on TripAdvisor and were not dissapointed. The location is very handy to get to from the bus terminal and is close to the main square. The hostel has a variety of common areas, well appointed and comfortable. We stayed in room 8, which is on the second floor, it... More

Popayan is a beautiful town and HostelTrail is a good place to stay. It has a great atmosphere and offers good information about what to see and do in Popayan and sorroundings. The breakfast for a small price was good. The WiFi did not work in the room.
