This lovely lodge is an oasis located in the Urubamba Valley in the historical town of Chinchero. We (a group of 9 family members) were picked up at the airport by our guide Jose who works with Antonio Zevallos (owner of La Casa de Barro). Even though Chinchero is slightly higher than Cusco, we decided to stay there instead of Cusco for the first night and we do not regret it. We arranged for Jose to give us a tour of the main sites in our way to the lodge for a separate fee and it was all worth it! Since we were all slightly affected by the altitude since we landed in Cusco and had two people with colds in our group, Jose showed us the right amount of sites from strategic sightsee points in the city to allow us to appreciate their beauty without having to exert ourselves more.

My partner and I, went to chichero to get away from CUZCO, we were recommended to this place by one of the travel agents in Cuzco. We arrived to this location 4 hours late, they were expecting us at 9AM! and we didnt make it till 2PM. We had an amazing time at this place. The service was impecable; the food was great as well. The rooms what can i say very charming and romantic. These were one of the only rooms in the CUZCO area with an A/C and a Heater. The bed is very comfortable; and the owner goes beyond and above to make sure everytrhing is in order an in place. I am really happy to see that every reviewer has said the same. This is the place to stay in the Valley area; and would be an amazing base to go to MARAS/MORAY and the Salineras. This place is spotless clean; with

We have been to lovely hotels in many countries but this place is unlike any other. I rarely write a review but this one is a must. The hosts: Antonio treats you like his guests. We tried to be trapped in the overly crowded touristic spots as little as possible. The stay here couldn't have been better. Antonio drove us in his car to the little town nearby, to a very large Inca site where there was no one in sight. We even stopped by a village festival when we drove past it in the middle of nowhere. Such a lovely family and such a lovely place. Food: The food was top notch. Fusion cuisine done right. Hotel: Clean and tastefully decorated. The outside patio where we lunched everyday had a clear gorgeous view of the Andes. Overall, if you're thinking about getting to

Driving the main road through Chinchero, which was under construction, I had low expectations. But when we arrived at La Casa De Barro, with their beautiful yard, comfortable and cheerful rooms and gracious host and hostess I knew we would have a pleasant stay. They were very accommodating for children and had books, games, toys, bikes, gathering places and three dogs that captured the affection of our kids. The onsite restaurant served generous portions of food. We had laundry done while we stayed there but forgot to take into account drying time (on a rainy day) as they don't have a heated tumble dryer, so think twice before doing laundry if you are leaving for a trek. The hot water also needs to be turned on before you shower so make sure to double check that before

For those who think Chinchero is not worth a stop, think again! We were so pleasantly surprised to find this quaint little hotel in the charming town of Chinchero. Chinchero itself is highly underrated and really worth a visit. The hotel has only been open 7 months and the owners are delightful. The rooms are clean, quaint and the bathrooms spotless. The restaurant boasts a delightful menu with huge portions and the prices are not to be believed. The setting cannot be matched with snow-covered peaks visable from the balcony and a beautiful terrace and garden from which to view them. The family's friendly dogs, Estrella (star) and Luna (moon) are the welcoming committee for the hotel. It was such a lovely visit and we cannot wait to return!
