Allerton is a traditional house with an interesting history. We stayed for one night while walking St Cuthbert's way. Located on a hill side overlooking the town it is a five minute walk to the centre. The rooms are large and well furnished and have a good range of equipment. The room we were in had both a bath and... More

We were given a very warm welcome on arrival and helped to enter our rooms. We were personally escorted instead of pointed! Our hostess, Carol, was happy to provide some real milk for our morning tea. We were offered a Sherry or Whisky in the lounge to help us relax after our long day’s walk and it felt like reentering... We staid here on the way back home from a longer trip - it was delightful! Very large room, great breakfast and good position at the edge of town. The complimentary glass of whisky and sherry were very welcome. The porridge I selected at breakfast was fantastic!

We have been staying at Allerton House for a few years now when visiting family in Jedburgh and for the annual Jed Callants Festival. The property is in a quiet location yet ideally situated just a short walk from the town. All the rooms we have stayed in are comfortable, well appointed and very clean. The hosts are very welcoming... More

This is a great place to stay. This was our second night on St Cuthbert's Way and, in advance of our visit, the owners gave us taxi numbers from Harestanes, where our walk ended that day. They also booked dinner for us at a very good and conveniently located restaurant. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and the bed was extremely... More

Delightful home turned into a B&B. Spacious rooms, particularly the Abbey room. Don't wear your boots in the house. Each room was equipped with a partial kitchenette. The breakfast was stunning, and you must try the porridge. Made with Scotch liqueor. A couple of us went and bought the brand.

This is a beautiful house in a most attractive garden, well placed in Jedburgh for walking St Cuthbert's Way. As we'd walked 15 miles already on this particular day to reach Harestanes, we took Chris up on his offer (for a small sum) to collect us and drop us off the following morning from Harestanes (as St Cuthbert's Way does... Our stay at Allerton House was arranged as part of our walking tour of Cuthbert's Way. It was a clean, beautiful, spacious room with a nice view. We stayed in the Queen Mary room. Breakfast included delicious Scottish porridge, eggs, toast, and all the traditional Scottish breakfast items you could want. Walking distance into Jedburgh to see Jedburgh castle as... More

Wonderful, high, bed and spacious double room including a settee. Light coloured carpets - leave your boots in the porch! Owner sorted out a taxi earlier than had been booked for us, after mix up - very helpful. Bathroom with bath and shower over. Dining area has a sitting area alongside. Great range of options for breakfast - choose starters... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Allerton Guest House and B&B in Jedburgh is a welcoming Georgian house set in a lovely, sizeable garden giving the impression that it’s in the middle of the country when, in fact, it’s just off the Main A68 trunk road and only 5 minutes’ walk from the centre of the attractive Borders town of Jedburgh. With just six rooms (one fully equipped for people with disabilities), the atmosphere is personal and informal whilst the standards come up to those required in these modern days for both business and leisure visitors. The spacious rooms are all en suite and are equipped with free wi-fi, digital television, an Ipod dock, iron, hairdryer and, of course, tea and coffee making facilities. Your hosts, Chris & Carol Longden, enjoy serving a really good breakfast (with healthy and vegetarian options) using locally-sourced ingredients such as St Boswell’s Black Pudding, Denholm sausages and free range eggs. There are some really good local restaurants and bistros and the fish and chip shop is excellent – and all just five minutes walk away. ... more   less
