My husband & I stayed at Ancrum Craig for 2 nights on our way home after touring around Scotland. The B&B was like a stately home with beautiful gardens & extensive grounds. Our room was very large with good en-suite & tastefully decorated. The lounge was beautiful with huge fireplace & Jill lit a fire for us in the lounge... More

Stayed here for a night recently when in the area for a party. Could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Lovely rooms, spacious and comfortable in the perfect setting. Glorious views and walks. And the best breakfast which was more than welcome the morning after! Highly recommend a stay in the area where there is much to see and... More

Following helpful directions to a location whose postcode bemuses a satnav, we found ourselves in a glorious setting above Ancrum, looking over to the Eildons and elsewhere - in total peace and seclusion. Our hostess pressed us to have afternoon tea in the lounge on arrival, before a welcoming log fire. We were even invited to play the grand piano,... More

We had a lovely stay at Ancrum Craig. The room was very comfortable and had great views over the front garden and the surrounding countryside. Very modern en suite with heated floor - which was welcome. Breakfast couldn't be faulted and kept us going all day. Very peaceful setting. Well off the beaten track, but owners' directions were excellent in... More

This is a lovely house in truly beautiful surroundings, our room was nicely furnished with a huge very comfortable bed, and large windows that make the most of fabulous views across the countryside. We stayed with friends who also had a great room. Breakfast is very good and plentiful. There's a walk around the grounds offering views of the landscape... More

I am proud to say we had visited Ancrum Craig some time back - thirty-four years ago in fact! What a pleasure to meet Jill and Johan once again (Sept. 2013) after so much had 'passed under the bridge' in our respective lifetimes. We still remembered features of the fine home and gardens, and experiences that made our return to... More

We arrived here for a one night stay on our way to Scotland. What a magnificent setting. On arrival we were given tea and coffee in the lounge, and shown to our room. We had the Heather Room, if we had been staying for more than one night we would have been given a room with a more scenic view,... More

We first came here eleven years ago and always intended to return - at last we have done so and Ancrum Craig more than lived up to our memories. The house is stunningly romantic with a fascinating history and a perfect setting, the huge bay window of the guests' drawing room looking out over the rolling and unspoiled Borders landscape.... Ancrum Craig has it all, delightful house, stunning position, beautiful views and attentive hosts. The room facilities beat hotels owing to the tiny personal touches, books on the beside table for one. The welcome on arrival puts most places to shame. All round a first class experience and has become a must stop for us when traveling through the Scottish... More
