The farm house is literally built on the Wall and from the stones. Very comfortable and cozy in a pastoral setting by the burn. The room was good with a smallish shower/toilet. Excellent English breakfast. The Greenhead hotel and pub is a short easy walk for a great dinner.

l had a 1 night stay at Holmhead. Lovely room and lounge. Lovely breakfast. Friendly owners. you can see the castle from the lounge window. I intend to visit again with my wife. Holmhead is right on the Hadrian's Wall path. Ian Graham

Lovely spot for a nights camping while backpacking along the Hadrian's Wall Trail. Campsite is the back garden of the guest house/camping barn. Only space for 3 or 4 backpackers tents, and limited facilites (basic shower and single toilet in combined wet room 'lean-to'), but what more do you need when backpacking?! Campsite is literally on the trail, and only...

Very comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast and service. The welcome is friendly, familiar and professional. Nice place, just at the Pennine Way and Hadrianus Wall. This is a B&B runned by people with a vision. We need more of them.

We stayed one night here whilst walking part of Hadrian's wall. July and Alan were wonderful hosts, very friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and the sofas in the living room were much appreciated after a day walking. The guesthouse is conveniently close to Greenhead for an evening meal, and breakfast was excellent (and plentiful). A highly recommended place...

This is a very picturesque place to stay on Hadrians Wall and the Pennine Way. We got a friendly reception and were offered a lift to Haltwhistle by the owners the next morning. Nice breakfast and decent Wifi. Only thing was that the room was very small but apart from that, no hesitation in recommending.

Our party of four greatly enjoyed four nights at the Holmhead Guest House (HGH). Owners Judy and Alan are excellent hosts and their friendly, attentive hospitality made all the difference to our stay. Breakfasts are fantastic (it isn't necessary to eat again until the evening!) and we will certainly re-book if we are walking in the area again. Thank you...

Stayed for a night in the 'campsite' which was the large back garden. The location was stunning but the facilities were basic at best. There was a single toilet, sink and shower (all combined in a lean-to wet room) between all those staying. The sink was also the main washing up sink. Not ideal.

The Holmhead Guest House is partially constructed from the stone of Hadrian's Wall. It is a lovely place to stay. The proprietors are pleasant and even booked a table for us at the Greenhead Hotel Restaurant. The rooms are small but comfortable. Breakfast is your choice of many English dishes. The location is essentially on Hadrians wall and there are...

We stayed one night in the self-catering barn. I would not recommend this. The barn was dirty, the shower couldn't work with the tap, the other shower didn't work full-stop! The landlord was rude, which we didn't need after a long day walking. We hoped that we would be welcomed as we were at all other points on the journey,...

“Ask the owners for advice, they are very helpful. The barn is suitable if you want basic accommodation, esp. in a group. The B&B is comfy and great for a more private stay. Both are good value for money. There is also a camping site, but check the weather report first, it rains a lot in that part of England!”
