Located in the heart of a region called Isla Baja, in the North-west of Tenerife, Hotel San Roque is to be found among the pebbled streets of Garachico, only a few meters from the blue waters of the Atlantic and in the shade of the emblematic Teide. A lordly 18th century manor house with just the right atmosphere to enjoy your holidays. It is a charming hotel where time can be forgotten and where to feel as comfortable as at home. The hotel has 20 double rooms, 8 duplexes with living rooms, 2 junior suites and 2 suites. La Torre (the tower) enjoys an amazing view of the town and the coastline. Each room enjoys a unique layout, colour and personality, but is identical in terms of comfort and service with air conditioning a Jacuzzi, audio visual equipment, designer furniture and contemporary art on their walls. That is twenty rooms in all offering ours guests a completely different experience of relaxation and comfort. All rooms are equipped with: Jacuzzi bathtub in the bathroom ( in Junior Suites is integrated in the room area ), Satellite TV, Flat Screen, DvD, Hi-fi, minibar, A/C, WiFi, safe box, Bath amenities....

A lovely hotel in a classic Spanish courtyard style – comfortable room, beautiful architecture, and a pervasive air of tranquillity. Nice restaurant by the pool, and very attentive and helpful staff; we even noticed that when guests are around, the staff lower their voices to preserve the atmosphere! Perhaps ridiculously, for us as nature lovers, a real high point was relaxing in the courtyard in the late evening watching the resident gekkos emerge and take up position by the courtyard wall lights, waiting for insects to be attracted to the lights.

My husband and I had to cancel our booking at short notice. The hotel owners were so helpful, took no cancellation fee and were able to rebook us two months later. The hotel is an elegant building around 2 courtyards, one with a heated swimming pool in the middle. Our bedroom was on the ground floor, helpful as my husband walks with a stick. Breakfast is served under cover beside the pool! Staff are friendly and very helpful. The village of Garachico is a gem.

The hotel was lovely and spotlessly clean and our outside facing room was comfortable and quiet. Hotel staff were beyond friendly and helpful - always smiling, courteous and obliging. The food was varied, tasty and value for money. Unfortunately the weather was awful - although there was little the hotel could do about that. However, this did mean that there was not a lot for us to do during our stay except read, play games etc. The town of Garachico is pleasant but not exceptional; is very small and takes a morning to see completely and there was not much of interest to drive to in the immediate vicinity, especially in such wet weather conditions - so a pretty quiet stay! There were a few nice restaurants in the town and we found the food good and reasonably priced. For no obvious reason the promenade along the sea front and access to the natural seawater pools were all fenced off which spoiled the view and the walk. I assume the fences are taken down in the season(?).

We stayed in this hotel for 4 days and we have been delighted. A lot of allure, great architecture, the hotel occupies an old Spanish house / manor and staying there gives you a feeling of old time luxury. Service is extremely friendly. You feel welcome and this is extremely pleasant. Small hotel with not too many rooms ( I bet, less than 15), so service is excellent and you can get acquainted with other guests as you meet multiple time a day. The rooms are spacious and extremely well furnished. Bedding is very good. King beds. Bathrooms are modern and do not lack any equipment. Towels are new so everything is top notch. The hotel pool is heated so, even in March, you can profit of it. Highly appreciated after a whole day hiking and walking. The hotel has a great patio with armchairs. You can order drinks and food from anywhere in the hotel thanks to a remote device. Breakfast is an event in itself. The best buffet we had may be in years. Excellent quality of food. The buffet matches all tastes from German to English / American and even French. The restaurant provides great food. Wine list is impressive. So a dream place. Highly recommended.

Stayed for 5 days at the end of March. Garachico is a wonderful village with a decent set of restaurants, shops etc. We used the hotel as a base to explore this region of Tenerife. Hotel is meticulously kept. Rooms cleaned and tidied twice a day. Very beautifully decorated with a good deal of modern art mixed with the traditional style of the building. Breakfast was excellent - the guy who ran breakfast couldn't do enough for us. We could help ourselves to a number of coffees from a fancy machine they have as well as pour ourselves some divine fresh orange juice from another fancy machine. Lots of breads, cheeses, pastries, yogurts, cereals etc. to choose from and you could also select a cooked breakfast to accompany the buffet. The restaurant offered a good range of dishes, many of which were made from local produce - meats and fish especially. Whilst there we have a number of Yoga classes with the Hotel expert - Rebecca. These were excellent and made a relaxed break even more so. All of the staff were extremely courteous and helpful, can't fault them at all - well done to the owners for having such a great team. Finally, a bit of constructive feedback. Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to allow guests to smoke in the courtyard. I'm sure this wouldn't bother a lot of people but I found it quite unpleasant since the smell wafted around the rest of the hotel. Secondly, have the staff who work in the restaurant serve the restaurant guests *only* and not have to run out of the restaurant every 5 minutes having to deliver room-service also. Service was a little slow (we had around 5 meals in the restaurant) and the restaurant was never full. All in all an excellent place to stay.

Dear julesandkarl2018, Many thanks for your comments. With them we can improve our service and get to the point to make it perfect to every different client. We take good notice of your two recommendations about room service and the smoking policy. About this last one, we´ve been thinking on how we can combine the freedom of people who wish to smoke and the respect to among other clients that do not smoke. You comment makes us to consider a final desicion. We shall let you know. I´m glad you have had a nice stay with us, and for anything you might need form Tenerife, please do not hesitate in contact us. Sincerely yours Dominique Carayon
