We had an excellent experience here. Sometimes paradors, however excellent, seem old-fashioned (eg poor WiFi, very formal service, rather heavy food). This felt modern, despite the setting in a wonderful castle, with spacious rooms, splendid common areas and a fine restaurant (try the Teruel ham) and cozy separate breakfast area (parador breakfasts never disappoint!) Excellent value for money if you... More

Great Parador. Everthing was well organizes from reception, to bar, to dinner, to breakfast. Staff is some what slow, but still friendly. Rooms are bit noisy but not to distrubant. You can walk to the centre of Alcaniz. Nice but not trilling. Good parking facilty. Quality of the food was very good. Seperate breakfast area was very nice.

Our first pleasant surprise was the offer of an upgrade to a tower two floored suite for a relatively small cost... quite magical, I have stayed in hotels all around the world and this was perhaps the best room ever, not so much for the quality of fittings although they were good, but certainly for the ambience. The views over... More

En route to Costa Blanca and booked this as never really been disappointed by the brand. Up and up you go and it is so worth it!! I am not into history so look elsewhere but loved, loved the views! My bedroom, which was overlooking the front entrance, was huge and extraordinarily fitted out. Wifi, free again - good boys... More

Beautiful Parador. The bedrooms are not exceptional but the public areas are. The dining room, the breakfast room, the courtyard and the bar/cafeteria are superb. Throughout the hotel efforts have been made to retain much of the character of the original building. Access to the property is up a fairly narrow road that has to be negotiated with some caution.... This is one of those really special places to stay. Its located in a very unspoilt part of Spain and in reality there are not a lot of quality hotels in the region. So stay here. The building is a 12th century castle located on a dominant hill with amazing views in every direction. Money has been spent ensuring that... More

We stayed here for two nights as part of a Parador Ruta. We thought this was an exceptional hotel, worth more than its three star rating. The building itself is amazing, a mixture of old and new. We had a lovely room with amazing views over the local countryside, thanks to the elevated position of the hotel. It did make... More

Usual Parador quality, if you are used too, the place is very nice. Not very much to do in town of Alcañiz itself. The castle is modern in many of its parts, but there is one old tower that remains from ancient times, which can be visited and it really deserves it because it has wonderful 13th century frescos.

It is an old castle. The service was not great, the food at the restaurant was just ok. Better things to do then visit this castle. We planned to stay for two days, but left after one day. Drove instead to Zaragoza and Toledo. Much better choices.

We took the family here out of mere curiosity. Alcañiz also happens to be near a prehistoric site, which we did not get to on the trip. The parador is well maintained and was a pretty good price. We had dinner at the hotel and it was terrific with the stuff you expect from a good Spanish meal - jamon,... More
