The hotel is right in the centre. It’s not very modern, but it is comfortable and has very friendly staff who are always willing to help. The food was really good, with some traditional dishes. I would stay here again.
We drove here from Athens airport 2 1/2 hours visiting Corinth on the way. We were impressed with the relaxed feel here and the number of places to eat. Particularly liked to sit in Sintagma square with a drink watching Volta and the world go by. The hotel was an old house in the town in the middle of the tourist area. Although there was no kitchen so no breakfast in the hotel there was nice cafés nearby. The room was clean with good AC and shutters so we had a good sleep. The lady at reception was very helpful. We would return a nice city to visit.
I first found this hotel in 1999 and I've been staying there ever since, about once per year or so for a few nights whenever I'm in Nafplio. Exceptions are when I'm in Nafplio for work or when they're full. I love the location, and the family that runs it is so nice. It's a simple, unrenovated Greek hotel, no breakfast to speak of, but the prices are reasonable and they always remember me and treat me really well. It's a great budget option if you want to be in a perfect location. I've never had a problem with noise while staying there.
The Epidavros Hotel Nauplion I admit it was a carnival night that I stayed here, so street noise was at an annual maximum volume anyway, but it is simply impossible to sleep in this hotel. The adjoining nightclub pumps away ‘til near dawn and the guest cupboards ( I hesitate to describe anything so small as a ‘room’) have been created by splitting normal rooms in half with a dividing wall that is wafer-thin. I was so embarrassed for my neigbours when I inadvertently coughed and interrupted them! I got up at around 4am and walked over to the carpark and slept in my rent-a-car, much better…and more space! The room was clean, (although my bed had an odd wet spot), and had a certain cell-like charm. The doors to the rooms are fascinatingly narrow, I defy them to get a more corpulent guest inside! I did however enjoy the ‘Directions of Facing the Fire’ on the inside of the tiny door which instructed me to ‘take away the Brooch of the nearer Fire Engine and spray the fire’. Not recommended, you can find better if you book ahead.…
