My wife and I were here on a Globus tour. We all wished we were closer to town, which we visited for about 20 minutes and wanted to stay longer to see some more of the shops or walk along the shores.
Looks very nice, room is much more spacious. Wish they wouldn’t have hangers that won’t allow you to remove hanger from the bar, but really – the hotel is very nice. Dinner wasn’t bad, a big buffet with pork, fish, chicken, spaghetti, meatballs, fried rice… lots of choices, along with a huge salad and dessert selection.

We stayed at this hotel with our tour group. It was a nice hotel, though it was removed from the local town and we could not walk to visit the shops. That was disappointing as we arrived early in the evening and would have enjoyed more sightseeing and shopping.
The room was a good size, though the decorations were dated and sparse. The bed was comfortable. However, we requested a queen bed and received two twin beds pushed together. This decreased the comfort for a couple sleeping together.
The room also opened to a small courtyard with a nice sitting area. However, the sitting area opened directly into the woods, which made us question the security of our room. We would have felt more secure with at least a fence between the hotel border and the woods.
There was a large bar area, were we spent time with other members of tour before dinner. It was very relaxing and comfortable and the drink choices were varied and delicious.
Dinner and breakfast were both buffet style and were of a higher quality than most hotels we stayed at in Greece. There was good variety of choices and everything was very tasty.
Thank Lee G

My husband and I arrived there with a group of 28 after an especially long travel day and nine rigorous days of touring: we were exhausted. Accommodations were mostly comfortable; the common areas were really beautiful with a lot of polished marble, well-maintained grounds, and a large swimming pool.

Our room was average-sized and opened to a lovely courtyard. However, that is where smokers gathered, so we could not leave our French doors open or sit out there.
The bathroom was medium-sized, too, with an inviting large tub that had a bowed-out shower curtain that we liked. There were a moderate number of outlets in our rooms to charge our many devices.

The hotel had had a problem with their water supply, so the water was brownish yellow. We were cautioned not to drink it but told that it likely would clear up after 1-2 hrs. It didn't: my tub looked like it was full of urine. Also, our room was too hot to be able to sleep comfortably. When we reported our air conditioner was not working, the clerk told us that the AC had been turned off in the hotel for the season (on 10/2/18) and instructed us to open our doors to the courtyard: she seemed brusk, and there was no apology or help offered. We couldn't stand the cigarette smoke from the courtyard, and since the AC in the dining room was still on, we reported to our tour director. He convinced the staff to turn the AC back on in the guest rooms, yet our unit still didn't work. Finally, after much convincing that even the fan wouldn't run, a repair person was sent and fixed it. Our room finally did get cool during the wee hours of the morning. Our bell person was friendly, so not all of the staff was snooty and/or unaccommodating.

We had a buffet dinner that was average with wine I simply could not drink (red or white). I would have liked more selections than just traditional Greek fare. The breakfast buffet was better than the dinner. I didn't notice if all of their meals are buffets or if they had a menu; since we were with a tour group, the buffet was included. I would pay extra for a different dinner that didn't have as much oil and cream in selections. My GI tract was revolting.

We liked the beauty and size of hotel well enough that we would stay there again. Maybe the staff was just having an "off" day due to their water problem--and it didn't help that we were especially exhausted.
Thank 45Sandi

Dear Valued Guest, Many thanks for writing a review for Amalia Hotel Nafplio. Let us begin with the water problem, that unfortunately was out of our hands. It was a problem of the whole district and not just our pipes. In any case we warned our clients and provided fresh water Nothing we could do with the bath filling..... Regarding the AC problem you had, it is very rare, if not not existing, that a guest would complaint for excessive heat in the room. We are sorry you had such an inconvenience! Now let s hope that next time in Amalia Hotel Nafplio you will not have any inconvenience and you will leave with better memories than these ones. We came back exactly one year later and things are still as good as it was. Valuable prices, great service, friendly staff, nice and clean rooms. As a family with two little kids (5 and 3) we had a triple room in the ground floor facing the garden. The kids loved it. Saturday night buffet could have a bigger variety. Breakfast was excellent, with everything you could ask for. Well done!Hope we can be back soon!

I stayed here for 3 nights. The room reminded me of an outdated 1990s movie. There was nothing special about this hotel and it is not near any local spots. I had two twin beds pulled together as a queen. There was 2 chocolates on my pillow which I thought was cute. The bed is very low to the floor and not comfortable at all. The bar area was very nice and the drinks were good. The breakfast spread was amazing. There was so much variety and options for any diet. This is a nice hotel and to get downtown to see the local shops, the cabs charged about 6-7 euros. The rooms need updating and better beds, but overall this is a nice hotel.
Thank Demetra T
