The Byron is a smart economy choice. With its salmon walls and pale blue trim, it presents a cheerful front. Reception is warm and the breakfast on the terrace is fantastic. The rooms are spare but comfortable and the top floors have great sea views.
However, as in most of Nafplio, parking is a different story. For the daring, there are in fact places along a narrow street and in a small square nearby. Forget your GPS, just hold your breath and remember in Greece most traffic signs are taken as suggestions. We ended up (as usual) at the harbor.
The schlep up is tedious, and both the access to the hotel and the rooms are steep for the stair challenged. There is no lift or porter. Amenities include AC, free Wi-Fi, a safe, small TV and good closet space. But bring your own soap. Really.
All in all, the location is in good enough proximity to shopping and restaurants. Our stay was enjoyable, and we did in fact think the price was a deal.

A very nice, charmy hotel in the old town of Nafplio with lots of character and fantastic view over the whole town and the sea.
We were welcomed by the very nice owner and he also recommended one of the best Greek local Taverns we've been to with great homecooked Greek food.
Our room was on the the 3rd floor and when we entered we just stood stunned with our months open. The view from the 2 windows were breathtaking!
When we had breakfast the next morning in the old breakfast room it felt like old times in Greece before the tourism and we just loved it!
A highly recommended hotel, 10 out of 10!

Incredible hotel smack in the heart of the old city. Very clean ,exquisitely furnished and decorated, the owner and other people working there extremely polite and helpful ,great Greek breakfast and all this at very competitive prices. I've traveled throughout the world and this has to rate as one of my best experiences. Thank you to all.

Cramped room
Tiny bathroom
Impossible to turn around in the shower
Stairs everywhere
0 smiles
I ask for wifi, they point it at me rather than talking to me
No place to park within 600m on foot
And what's more, the beds are not made
A kit is placed on the bed and you make your bed by yourself
We travel often and everywhere and value for money is essential in our choice, we don't ask for more than we pay but here we got nothing! This hotel is just bad

Everything was just perfect. I had a very agreeable experience. It is quiet, comfortable, super clean, and in an ideal location. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I will stay at the Byron Hotel again during my next visit. I highly recommend it.

The room as such is ok, even though we didn'r sleep well on their matrasses. It was quite noisy in the streer as well, but that's not the hotel's fault.
Nice breakfast on the terrace! The staff was very friendly.
Unfortunately the bathroom was under standard, having a very small curtained shower and a very strong smell of pipes. There should definately be something done there!
But all in all we had a nice stay.

Hotel Byron was my absolutely favourite hotel on our 5wk trip to Greece. Even though we stayed at a few 5-star hotels in Santorini, Crete, etc there was something about this place. We had a corner room on the 4th floor so we had two windows that opened out to a different view. The room was quite big and very airy and light. We had a little walk-in closet so we could put all our stuff in there and close the door. We had air-con, mini-bar, cable TV, sensational views, private bathroom with a fabulous shower and all for 50Euro. The external of the hotel is so quaint and gorgeous with little blue Venetian shutters. We went out to the bars all night and just wandered in and out when ever we felt like it. We are going back to Naplion in June this year and are going back to the same place. Highly recommended!!

I have to admit that I have spend some amazing days in the Byron Hotel. The hotel, the location and the general atmosphere creating the ideal scenario of the perferct holidays.
Rooms are very clean and cosy. Well done to their detail even though they are a big small.
Breakfast in the hotel's yard it's a as location is great, even though that it is minimal also as quantity as aslo as a variety.
It is a great hotel taking in consideration the price they're asking for it -I haven't find it elsewhere so far.
Overall I have a great impression over the hotel in which I would visit it again and again for sure!

We were pleased with the Byron, though it's not one of the most accessible hotels in the old town (not one of the least, either, though). Room was basic and not too large but certainly not impossible for two people unless you have a lot of luggage. Bath was smallish but adequate. Very clean and reasonably priced. We didn't have the breakfast, which appeared to be coffee, bread & maybe juice; we walked downhill two streets and had coffee, a roll, and yogurt with honey for 50 cents less at Popeye's (yes, you read that right). Considered a couple of other hotels that were more expensive and while we were trying to find the Byron, we walked past one and wished we'd stayed there because it didn't involve as much hill-climbing. When we finally asked directions, it turned out we were right behind the Byron but in a "you can't get there from here" place. It's easier to find from the bottom of the town near the harbor (or with a better map than I could find on the Internet), but we had parked in a small lot to the west, near the Five Brothers, so we approached from the side. Luckily, we didn't take our luggage. Later we discovered some parking to the east at the edge of the old town which cut out the steps. If you exit the hotel, turn right, then right again at the first street (set of steps going up), then left at the top of the steps, you have a downhill slope to the parking area we used and there's only the short flight of steps near the hotel to contend with. Bumpy with rolling bags but a lot easier with luggage than any of the other approaches we found. Once we found the hotel and worked out the route for moving the luggage, the location was fine. Definately a good little budget hotel.

We stayed in the Byron in 1999 and returned in 2005-we were not disappointed. It is a charming hotel, very quiet and perfectly located in the Venetian Quarter in a beautiful old building. It is only a 5 minute walk from the main bus stop and very close to a good supermarket. We stayed in Room 33 which is on the top floor and has a lovely balcony for 2 which has amazing views. It is one of the less expensive rooms which surprised us but we wouldn't want any other room-it is perfect. The only reason I would not give the hotel the maximum rating is that the breakfast is nothing special and there is no fresh bread on a Sunday or Monday so I would avoid those days. However it is lovely on the little downstairs terrace and breakfast is extra so it is your choice. Fab hotel and we cannot wait to go back again. Be warned there is no lift so be prepared to work those leg muscles if you want to stay on the top floor
