good site as it is very quiet and on the river with nice play area for kids; convenient for lots of close visits like Rouen, Giverny, Chateau gaillard and Bio tropicalia; look out for the groundhog who lives on site; nice swimming pool too although a little small (the internal one)
This is a great resort located literally on the banks of the Seine river in Connelle, Normandy. An easy drive from Paris. Easy drive to the WW II sights, Calvados region, Cheese Trail, seaport villages, even the Bayeux tapestry! The resort is very well maintained. Great, friendly multi-lingual staff. Make sure that you order the continental breakfast the night before each morning, They bring in fresh pastries from a local patisserie, along with fresh coffee, tea, cereal, local cheeses and charcuterie, etc. must not be missed!
this place is very far taxi to Ruen is 120 euro round trip taxi from Paris airport 200 euro receptionist Sofia - very inconsiderate. she will charge 20 euro if you want to check in earlier than 4pm. the room is ready and she doesn't care if you're tired or not. you have to pay 20 euro or wait. rent a car is not advisable if you do not have a good internet connection. this place has no signal most of the time. small room upstairs... bathroom toilet downstairs..very stiff stairs... stairs is in the middle of the kitchen. very very small room. another staff Marc will drive you around, a tour guide charges 180 euro/day - he is a nice person.
We stayed here in mid October. Staff was excellent. Unit was remodeled somewhat (we paid to upgrade to Deux Amants) but it still felt a bit run down. The kitchen and bathroom remodels were well done though, and the kitchen even had a washing machine (no dryer), as well as a cook top and oven. We did not see the inside of the Residence units so this review is more of our personal opinion about the location of the resort. Both resorts share the same property and it is a beautiful setting. We shopped at the Spar grocery store which was about 10 minutes away. There were not a lot of restaurants nearby - just the bistro across the street (cash only) and a fine dining restaurant at the hotel down the road. It is a long drive (over two hours) to any of the D-Day sites. Signage in Normandie is poor, so even with GPS it's an adventure. There are some small towns nearer that are interesting Lyons-la-Foret was outstanding. We have been timesharing for about 10 years and understand that there is a trade off when you are based in a single location for a week, and this is the first time that we found the location to be too far away for us and for what we wanted to do. I would say if you want to explore some small towns in Normandie, this place would be fine. If you want to spend time nearer the D-Day beaches and the towns there, I would suggest using Bayeux as a base instead. I hesitate to assign the rating on this place - 3 seems too low but 4 seems too high - so I would say that it's a solid 3.5. The location was a larger drawback that I had hoped for - partially because we did not feel comfortable navigating in the dark on unfamiliar roads with the local drivers wanting to drive faster than the posted speeds. It always felt like we had someone anxiously waiting to pass us. While we were there sunrise was at 8:00am, so to be in Bayeux by our 8:30 check in time required driving the entire way in the dark (not a big deal to us at home, but more stressful than we wanted to do on vacation), and then driving back tired after a full day of touring. We decided to overnight in Bayeux which gave us an opportunity to spend some time there and it was a good choice to do it that way. I feel that you really need to consider your itinerary before booking at this location. …
A great location to enjoy the sights of Normandy to include: the D-Day beaches and memorial cemetaries, the Palace of Versailles, Rouen, and of course Paris. The staff was outstanding and they were available 24 hours a day, everyday. A special thank you to Mark who assisted in figuring out tours and was also available to provide personal guide duties on his days off. The facility and rooms were very nice and provided lots of amenities, to include free laundry facilities (a much needed service if you are traveling for more than 2 weeks). A great launching point for enjoying Normandy!
