I have to write a review of the Kaltschmid because this place dare not be ignored. The Kalschmid has a gigantic atmosphere of friendly warmth and that undefined spirit of hospitality that only generation after generation of sharing love can give. Its a place which you need to stay and repose at, while allowing its aeons of those who, like you, have passed though and mingled with its wonderful spirit, as it permeates you with its unique and wonderful character. If you are not staying , go to any of their bars/restaurants and be warmly welcomed and enjoy their wholesome and warm hospitality. Its not flash, its not ersatz, this is the real deal, don't miss it.
this hotel falls short of a 4* hotel on many levels. The main issue is, If you are staying bed and breakfast you will struggle to get a table for breakfast due to a stupid hotel policy which allows half board guests to reserve a table for the entire 7.30am -10.30am. Which means all of the tables are empty and unused until after the half board guests have finished, usually about 10.00am. The hotel will not allow you to use a reserved table. We had a 1 year old baby and an 81 year old lady in our party and we went to breakfast at 8.30am and were told to come back after 10.00am. After complaining to breakfast staff, reception, and hotel management for 7 days in a row....... nothing changed!!! The hand sanitise dispensers were empty for entire 7 days. Breakfast is a free for all with lots of pushing and shoving, the bacon, eggs, and sausage were cold, plates were stone cold, staff were picking up bread rolls off the floor and putting them back in the baskets, children are allowed to run around the food areas and play with the food and staff were just watching. just a few minor points to be aware of are, the rooms have no kettle or any drinks facilities, there is no fridge in room, and there is no iron or ironing board, lifts are slow made worse by children playing in them. There are lots of good quality hotels in the Seefeld area. I would maybe look around first before choosing this hotel.…
We had problems with breakfast due to the fact we were B&B! We went down to breakfast every morning around 8:30ish and the problem occurred getting a table! We went in spoke to the person in charge to seat us and how it works is that all half board visitors get priority reservation tables! This is all well and good however it just doesn’t work! Breakfast is from 7am-10pm and each table is reserved per room for that whole time, which means no one else can use that table but that room reservation! We were going in at 8:30am with a baby (11 months) who needs feeding and can not wait and was told we couldn’t get a table until 9:30am which is disgraceful! Obviously we complained and found each morning we was crammed on small tables of 4/6 seats each morning for 8 of us and yet around us was plenty of available tables even when we had finished and was leaving there was still tables available! The half board priority reservation system doesn’t work especially when those tables are not in use! Its a-shame because the facilities, staff etc were brilliant but breakfast for us was a major let down with the battle we had just to get a table when there were so many available tables around us! I have attached photos of us finishing breakfast and there are larger tables 8+ seats available still around us and this is only in the one section of the restaurant there were loads more tables available yet we couldn’t use them and had to cram on smaller tables! Major let down! …
Just back from a long weekend in the Kaltschmid, lovely hotel, very good reception staff, all speak perfect English, lovely large room very spacious, very large hotel plenty of places to sit and relax with a drink, very nice on site coffee shop with a nice choice of cakes! Swimming pool added bonus went in there every morning before all the children takeover, in a great location in the centre of the village with a large supermarket next door which was very convenient, would happily return , couldent understand why there was not one English Channel on tv yet there were quite a lot of English people also staying there, and they also commented this, but we would like to thank everyone at the hotel for there hospitality.
Just spent 7 nights on half board via Inghams holidays. Bedroom a good size, bath with shower over it. Two singles pushed together with a duvet each, feather which was too hot for summer use. Breakfast is buffet and you have a set menu to select what you want for that evening. Two choices of starter, two soups, salad buffet, 3 choices of mains, including vegetarian, cheese buffet and two desserts to choose from. Including soft drinks, beer and wine in deal. You are allocated a table for duration. The pool is on top floor, decent size, views of mountains. Indoor and outdoor jacuzzi. Relaxation room for over 16s, perfect as there were a lot of young kids. Central location, train and bus station few minutes walk away. Lovely town to Potter around and the lake to walk around.
