23 July, 2016. The Sheesh Mahal is a Heritage Hotel co-located with the Jahangir Mahal, in the Orchha fort complex. From what we remember, there were 8 rooms. We had not made any hotel reservation before getting to Orchha (we were coming in from Gwalior), and when we reached there, all rooms were booked out. We were a bit disappointed,... More

I spent one day at Orccha before completing the MP tour. I booked Maharaja and Maharani suite which are huge and magnificent. Maharani suite is situated on the ground floor which is suitable for aged people like my mother in my case. Maharaja suite is situated on the top floor. The entire top floor is dedicated to the maharaja suite.... More

This is a hunting lodge that was converted into a hotel. The terrace gives you a fantastic view of the Jahangir Mahal and the rest of the city. My friends and I even managed to catch part of the light show from the terrace. Service can be slow especially with food, but the staff is courteous. If you're travelling in... More

I loved my stay in this hotel. It more than well situated. This is just great being IN the palace in an awesome landscape. The rooms are very nice, an clean. The restaurant is OK. And the situation make it a very good place compared to the more touristic places close to the cenotaphs.

Hotel Sheesh Mahal located in the Orchha Fort Complex is the heritage stay option in Orchha. Located between the Jahangit Mahal and Rajmahal, the two palaces of Bendela kings, Sheesh Mahal is of a later vintage, having been built as a guest house for the British. The hotel has all the features of a heritage property and offers huge convenience... More

We stayed for two nights at the Maharani suite and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The suite itself is grand and a delight, but the location of Sheesh Mahal is priceless! Located in the heart of the complex of gorgeous palaces and crumbling ruins, and a minute away from the location of the sound and light show held every evening, this... More

we only stayed for one night unfortunately, so we did not get to enjoy the whole experience, but we book the Maharani suite and it was fantastic! of course you are in a Heritage setting so don't expect modernities, however the room was amazing and the bathtub something to wonder over.. can't wait to go back!!

Let me start the review with a warning, especially for the benefit of foreign tourists- please don't get conned by online sites displaying this property in their listing. Sheesh Mahal belongs to MP tourism and they do not recognise any of the bookings made through these agents. I learnt this the hard way! It's a decent property to experience living... More

If you're looking for history, look no further. This hotel is part of Orchha Fort, so you're in the perfect location to explore both the fort itself and the historical surroundings, including walking through the archaeological remains within the fort's outer walls, down to the river, from where there are great views of the Chhatris Cenotaphs. We stayed in the... More
