1) I was originally taken to another property of the owner's in New Hampi and offered a bed where the 'mattress' was two thin blankets on a hard wooden frame. Insisted I was taken to the place I booked in the bazaar - not sure if a genuine mistake or if they were trying it on to fill the less popular property. Suspect the latter. 2) Bathroom sink was filthy, place in general a bit grimy. Advertised as having constant hot water but I was only able to get hot water once and only from a tap - you can't have a shower. 3) Price I was offered room at said breakfast was included but no breakfast was provided. 3) Ticket booking services an absolute rip off - huge mark up charged compared to other agents. 4) You can stash your bags in office if arriving early/ leaving late but these are kept an unlocked room that isn't always attended so anyone could walk in off the street and take your stuff. Essentially, if this place was just honest about how basic it was and dropped the price accordingly it would be fine - as it is, I felt ripped off the entire way through.

Bang opposite the Virupaksha temple and in the middle of the market that has a lot of eating places.. bathroom is a bit cramped...but 24*7 hot water, free drinking water, free WiFi. 2 mins. From bus stand. Walking distance from Matanga hills n Achutaraya temple as well. The owner Paramesha was very hospitable. If looking for location, this is good...for fancier places, you'd have to be at Hospete which is about 12 kms away. We stayed at the 2 non AC rooms. The room has a wall fan and a pedestal fan that rotates. Mosquito net for the bed is provided.

The guesthouse is in a great location close to main attractions, restaurants, the main temple, the bus station, the river crossing etc. The host was very friendly, we were able to check in as soon as we arrived which was appreciated after a night bus and they happily stored our luggage on the day we checked out. Note a bucket shower was required if you wanted to bath in hot water. We didn't mind doing this. We stayed for 5 nights and would happily stay again. Also note you don't need a rickshaw from the bus station in hampi to this guesthouse. It's less than a 5 minute walk

The woman in charge of this guesthouse is very welcoming and helpful. The room is correct for the price but an effort can be done for the cleaning. We have some caterpillars in the bathroom. 500 rp in November.

I stayed for 2 nights and I really like the place. It is very simple but the woman who owns it is very kind and sweet. She makes the best masala chai at a very good price and the breakfast is cheap and delicious. Well located too.

The best thing about this place is the price, and what you get for that price. We had a room with AC, TV and our own bathroom. The owner (?) can be pushy though, he was waiting for us at the station, offered us a ride to town with his ricksaw and offered us tours of Hampi multiple times. Just refuse and take your time in Hampi.

I spent here 2 nights and I was absolutely satisfied with it. The owner and his brothers are really helpful. They sent me several letters prior to my arrival to make sure I know how to go there. They are quite talkative so we had some interesting conversations during my stay. Hampi is very small so you can reach all the attractions by feet or you can hire a bicycle (if you don't have high expectations, you can get a bike for Rs 40 per day. You just have to check several places to get a good price.)

Arrived early in the morning and were allowed to check in at 9am which was helpful. Also helpful was the ability to leave luggage after checking out (also at 9am) so we could still sightsee that day. Bit of a hard sell about going on a tour as soon as we'd filled in the paperwork on arrival, after an overnight coach journey we could have done with a rest before that as we were really tired. The room was OK, super basic and only one powerpoint but in working order. Cold shower as you would expect in a place like this. The bed was actually very comfortable as it had a foam mattress topper. They also provided us with a mosquito net. The location is amazing - 1 minute walk to the famous Mango Tree restaurant. Rocky is a nice guy and runs several guesthouses. He responds very quickly to requests and questions and clearly cares about the quality of his business and will go out of his way to help you. The towel provided looked and smelled like they needed a better wash, and the floor could have been cleaner. But really, overall not bad. We've stayed in much worse for this price in India.

Siri Guest House There are only 3 accommodation rooms that make up this guest house. All 3 rooms back on to the main common area where staff may smoke, wash clothes, clean and move around from early hours of the morning. It is also where their 'reception desk' is located so we found it is very noisy when guests arrive or when they are just chatting in general; you will hear every single word and movement from early hours of the morning. Most buses arrive in Hospet at early hours so this can be a little disturbing. The facts (without opinion): - It is in a great location - Rooms are small and basic; A bed, toilet and shower and a desk fan nailed to the wall over the bed - Sometimes the tap delivered hot water for a bucket bath, sometimes it didn't - Nothing else provided; ensure you have your own amenities, etc. We did however ask for towels and toilet paper and they then brought some for us (towels looked about a decade old!) - Check out time is unusually early at 9:00am. We weren't expecting that! - They do take credit card payment upon request by utilising the travel agency next door which is helpful during this money crisis - Wifi is slow and inconsistent. We struggled to connect online on our phones or iPad. Staff are lovely and friendly but quite pushy to sell rather overpriced tuktuk tours of the town (they offered 1500rp for the day tour but we scored a guided bicycle tour at the temple Tourist Booking Centre for only 400rp) For those new to Hampi; the main bazaar is the place to stay. It is in the middle of everything and the town closes down after 10pm at night so it's not noisy or hectic at all. Siri Guesthouse is in the heart of the main Hampi Bazaar and right near the beautiful temple. There are great cafes and restaurants everywhere - we recommend Ganesh and Ravi Rooftop Restaurant for great food and Chillout for a nice place to relax. Unfortunately my friend lost her passport and the Australian Commission advised we must file a police report in order to arrange temporary visa and passport to get home. We did so, but Siri Homestay owners got angry at us as for some reason the police charged them. They got irate at us over email and we still don't know what happened or what we have done...our suspicion is that something was happening illegally and they have been caught but we don't know. We had no choice but to report our missing passport! So this obviously tainted our experience of the homestay as well when they turned nasty on us. Compared to other parts of North India, the guest house is expensive for what you get, but it seems Hampi is a little pricier anyway. Good spot to stay if you only need somewhere basic and don't want to sleep in on your check-out day!

This is budget accommodation in the heart of Hampi bazaar. The rooms are basic, in a bit of a makeshift hut complete with leaf-thatch roof that rumbles when the monkeys jump overhead! There's no hot water, but the tank is usually warm enough after a day in the sun. Our room had a good mosquito net that covered the whole bed and a fan on the wall. WiFi worked fine throughout our stay. The guys running the place were friendly and very social. One showed us round the nearby temple complex, and up to the sunset point which are all a stone's throw away. They are also just 10 metres from the Mango Tree, which is the best restaurant in the bazaar. Only negative being the slightly pushy sales pitch from their driver to go on a local tour, but after a couple days rejection he got the message.
