Anegundi is actually an ancient living village. The property owners have carefully restored a few houses and generally created an experience which is totally in consonance with the village and greater surroundings. It's not a place for those looking for a pool, air-conditioning and bathrobes. Its an extremely charming little place that almost does not want to exist as a...

Set up by Shama Pewar (hence the original name of Shama's Cottages before it was changed to Uramma...) - a social entrepreneur and activist who set up an NGO, the Kinshkinka Trust, to help local villagers (particularly women) to earn a better living - this is a very peaceful place to stay (despite dogs fighting at night and the racket...

My friends and I stayed at the Uramma Cottages (formerly Shama's Cottages) on a recent trip to Hampi in October, 2015. We could not have been better taken care of. The cottages, while basic, were spacious, clean and comfortable and a huge ceiling fan worked well in place of air-conditioning (there is no A/C). Siraja, the manager, saw that all...

The Kishkindha valley along Tungabhadra river is closeby and hence the boat ferry (only during the daytime though) is available to cross across to the other side of river and visit the glorious ruins. The garden is beautiful and rooms cozy. Decent speed of internet too.

Beautiful Cottages (Uramma cottages) in a quaint village Anegundi in Hampi. To reach the ruins of Hampi, one has to go across the river in a ferry boat. The village itself has some architectural ruins to observe. There is a banana fibre production place to check out and buy some amazing products from, also owned by the owner of Uramma...

I liked the cottages and the gardens around, also the little village Anegundi. This property might be a good place to stay for its sort of quite silent atmosphere. But the hyperactive "manager" Shiraje was not a support. Sort of faked friendlyness, He doesn`t really listen to the the guests. In my case with awful consequences: he booked the wrong bus...

I have been coming for the third time to Anegundi and stayed twice at the Uramma cottages. It is always a beautiful experience ! Away from everything but worth the extra miles in this quaint village. Beautiful garden, comfortable rooms, good food, friendly staff, easy access to internet in the office. Well situated perfect to visit the amazing Kishkinda Valley...

Shama (and her staff) have made a lovely and comfortable place to just hang out, or venture off to discover the wonderful ruins of Hampi and Anegundi. Good food, good atmosphere, and a level of sanity not often found in India. ENJOY!

Uramma homes have four properties in Anegundi, a village located across Hampi, on the opposite banks of the Tungabhadra river. We stayed in their budget property, the Peshegaar House, a guest house with five rooms. The rooms are basic and the bathrooms are shared, located outside in the courtyard. However, the rooms AND bathrooms are very, very clean and well...

Suggested to us by friends in Goa and so glad we managed to get a cottage here. Definitely a well kept secret and so much nicer than all the guest houses on the ' island'. Food was home cooked, simple and delicious. Staff were extremely helpful and were happy to sort out anything you needed. The monkeys on our roof...
