Great room in the Jungle, nicely decorated. Food was good and staff very friendly. We did the Gorilla tracking early in the morning, saw and got the chance to photograph about 8 of one family with great support from guide and trackers. In the afternoon went for village walk to the pygmies and got some information about their former forest live. Enjoyed it immensely.
What a fantastic place to stay! Our room was spacious and clean with plenty of hot water, beautiful view and the special treat of a “ bed warmer” since the nights were a little chilly were all very welcoming. Staff is friendly, courteous and accommodating in every way. We all felt like friends even though it was only 2 nights! Could’ve stayed longer. I highly recommend especially if you’re trekking in Bwindi. Oh, and they also give a portion of their proceeds back to the village for community support. I loved that.
Stayed at Haven Lodge for Gorilla Trekking in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The views from our rooms and the lodge were amazing. All the staff were extremely helpful and very friendly, even presenting a birthday cake for someone in our group. Dan (our guide) went above and beyond to make out stay absolutely superb and never tired of our many, many questions!
We had a marvellous time at this community run lodge. A fantastic view and a family room with a nice sitting room and 2 very spacious bedrooms which have a bathroom each. Personnel works very hard to give you an excellent Time with a very big smile. Food is excellent too. We had a very nice stay and yes we saw the gorillas and it was the best experience ever.
It is a nice lodge very close to Bwindi forest. Food is good, wifi is available only in restaurant area. You have hot water for showering. Power is a little unstable but after a few minutes comes back. Comfortable bed for a good night sleep. Drinks are not included with the meals (only water is). You have to pay extra for anything else you’d like to drink but prices are very accesible. We paid 6 USD for one beer and 2 glasses of wine.
Most beautiful place we stayed in all of Uganda - astounding views over pristine forest, right from your balcony, and even from the shower! The local community owns and runs the lodge, so profits and wages directly benefit the residents around the park, but the level of comfort. luxury and service are up there with any internationally-owned lodge. Fantastic food, full bar, , hearty breakfast to prepare for a long day of trekking, and packed lunch to keep you going. Loved our stay! Be aware that the road to the lodge is narrow and steep and may not be negotiable without 4-wheel drive. Also, as in most places in Uganda, they take payment in cash, and there are no ATMs in Buhoma.
I truly think it would be impossible to say enough good about this very, very special place. John, Smith, Audrey and the rest of the staff treated our small group (6 in all) with the utmost care and attention from the very moment we arrived. There is a wonderful feeling of care, competence and authenticity that seems to permeate. Very comfortable and welcoming. Highly, highly recommend. Ten stars!!!!!
My wife and I recently spent two nights at the Buhoma Haven lodge. We flew in to Kihihi, stayed over night, gorilla trekked the next day, stayed again then departed. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left our hosts were extraordinarily attentive. The service was unmatched by an stay at any place we have ever stayed. Coffee was delivered to our cabin at 6 am upon request, meals were adapted to dietary needs, beer and wine was provided with a pleasant smile, and laundry was neatly cleaned and folded. Honestly, the hosts of this lodge are great, but also so warm and welcoming! The lodge is situated in a BEAUTIFUL setting. The views, the sounds of the birds, the drizzle of the rain, everything about the location is like a dream. The lodging exceeded our expectations. The showers were warm, and the pressure was perfect. We had a sunken tub (that we didn’t use because we are shower people) and plenty of space. Not to mention the patio to sit back and unwind. I’d recommend this lodge and their hosts to anyone. One day I will bring our children back to enjoy the same experience. - Tyler…
In Bwindi Impenetrable the most important are gorillas. But in this lodge you can feel yourself as the most important person in the world. Perfect place for relax, stunning views from your chalet, local food and amazing hosts. Lodge is run by local community and supporting the local initiatives. It is good to support the places you are visiting. To conserve them, to take care of places of such a unique beauty.
We stayed here for one night prior to trekking with gorillas the next day. The views from the reception and the room are breathtaking. Friendly staff, decent food. Nice packed lunch. Run by the local community. Would recommend.
