We stayed for 5 nights at Chameleon Hill in August last year and had the most magical stay. Not only did we trek and get to see the gorillas which in itself was mind blowing, we also met the loveliest and kindest people running this amazing lodge. The rooms and main building were beautiful - colourful and comfortable with lovely attention to detail, and an enormously personal service that made our stay extra special and the views from the lodge across the lake are absolutely stunning. We visited with our little boy (2.5 years old) and a friend who joined us and stayed in another room, and after the week we truly felt like family. Nothing was too much (including a last minute request by me to have some shirts made locally) and everyone was so welcoming and sweet with our son especially. The food and drinks on offer were great and we also got to experience another guests birthday while there, and I think the cake and singing by the staff at dinner was the best one we've seen anywhere by a long shot. The half day trip out on the lake was beautiful and it was eye-opening and very informative to be able to visit a local island and meet the villagers. It was also cool to be able to buy some little baskets and bracelets directly from them (and they were some of the best we found in 9 months of travel in Africa). Cute, cute kids too :) The gorilla mask workshop we did with Demal, a local guy was also fun and very entertaining! If you plan on trekking to see the gorillas in Bwindi or even if you just want to spend some time in a relaxing and beautiful Ugandan setting, I cannot recommend Chameleon Hill enough. Thank you for having us guys!

We originally picked Chameleon Hill Lodge because of its fanciful colored buildings, but it's a great place to stay for much more than that. While there are certainly options for more luxurious accommodations, Chameleon Hill is definitely not a low-budget property - you'll be perfectly comfortable and well taken care of here. Uganda is a beautiful country, but this location on the shores of Lake Mutanda is truly breathtaking. We felt as if we were in some sort of fantasy movie, looking out at the lake's islands through the mist, with the Virunga volcanoes on the horizon. In retrospect, we wish we had stayed one more day, just to spend it on the beautiful terrace overlooking the lake. The rooms are all in individual cottages, each with its own deck and fabulous views. Electricity is via a generator that is shut down at night, but we never found that to be an issue as it is operational until quite late and battery-powered flashlights are provided in the rooms. The food was quite good, with meals served in the main lodge. You'll pay extra for drinks here, but the charges are very minimal even for beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages. There's a laundry service (again for a minimal cost) and they will clean off your muddy shoes after a gorilla trek. Highly recommended!

Beautiful location. Staff was friendly and attentive. They did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. The cottages were comfortable and well equipped. We loved the guided walk into the local village, again a wonderful suggestion on the part of the staff. Would definitely consider returning for another stay.

In June 209, we stayed at the Chameleon Hill Lodge as a base to go gorilla trekking in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The accommodations were great, with proper beds and hot showers. The surrounding area, with the lake and volcanos in the background, was absolutely amazing. We were also able to arrange a visit to the local village through the lodge, with was a truly unique experience.

During two trips to Uganda in the last two years I was privileged to spend 2 nights in the fantastic chameleon hill lodge. The first time was with my husband in March 2018 and when I returned with my daughter in February 2019 the team recognized me and provided me with a very warm welcome. The views from the colorful cottages over beautiful lake Mutanda are stunning. We used it as a base to do gorilla trekking in Bwindi and Mghahinga and enjoyed our realaxing afternoons in this beautiful environment. We hope to be back in Chameleon Hill lodge again on our next trip to Uganda. It is just such a lovely place with so friendly and hospital people.
