This is the perfect place for anyone interested in visiting Bwindi impenetrable rainforest to do gorilla trekking. The lodge is just 2-3 mins walk from where you start the trek and permits can be organised by the staff at short notice (we arrived very late the previous night so ours were arranged in the morning just before we began the trek). The lodge setting is quiet and peaceful right on the edge of the rainforest - rooms are relatively basic but comfortable beds and clean so perfect for a good night’s sleep before the trek. Food was excellent and there are full and half board options. The staff are always friendly and helpful and although I didn’t meet the lodge owner Silver (+256774231913) in person he was extremely responsive even after I left with recommendations of places to stay in QENP and Murchison Falls. He also went out of his way to help me to organise onward transport at cheap rates. Overall a great place to stay and run by genuinely lovely people who are not just after tourists’ money but who instead care about your experience and want you to have the best time so you will recommend to others - which I am very happy to do!…
We spent two nights in Nshongi Camp and everything was perfect! The location of the camp is excellent. It is close to the entrance gate of Bwindi Impenetrable forest where gorilla tracking starts, but it is in peaceful place behind the village. Room was comfortable and clean but the best thing is a jungle view from a terrace. Showers and toilets are not luxurious but good enough :) Mrs. manager was very professional and helpful. She arranged community walk for us, she accompanied us to the headquarter of gorilla tracking and she did all the arrangements for us. She also showed us the local waterfall and village. Other staff were also very kind and hospitable. They made an excellent food for us! I highly recommend this place!
Great place if you want to get the real gorilla trekking experience. Positive: really amazing staff, big beds, clean showers and toilets, nice breakfast and a delicious 3 course dinner, good lunch packet for the trekking, kind of warm showers, 500meters from trekking starting point, electricity starting from afternoon. Negative: only semi-warm no hot showers but this might be due to the fact that 4people were showering right after another.
We spent two nights in Nshongi camp i. The location of the peaceful camp is excellent, close to the headquarter of rangers where the briefing for gorillas trekking take place. The lodge is near a small river and has a wonderful view on the moutains of Bwindi impenetrable forest. Very relaxing! You can also see monkeys in the garden!!! The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The restaurant has a fine view on the garden and moutains of Bwindi impenetrable forest. The food is good. Excellent hospitality of the staff.
I can’t say enough about this place! I was looking to see the gorillas on my own (not through a tour group) and found Nshongi. One of the other reviews on here had left the manager, Silver’s, WhatsApp number. I contacted him and he was INCREDIBLY helpful in arranging a permit for me. I was so grateful. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the gate. But the camp itself is so damn beautiful. It’s simple and rustic but perfect. The hot showers were so appreciated after the hike. Gloria and the rest of the staff were gracious and kind. Everything was perfect. If you’re looking for a budget but fantastic place, book this place!! Thank you again Nshongi!
