    Quiet and tucked away
Engagi lodge was our first stay on our tour and we were only booked to stay one night unfortunately. The Room: We had a private lodge that was clean, spacious bathroom with hot water and mosquito net that they prepped for you while you enjoyed dinner. They have electricity in the room for lights, but they do not offer enough to allow for you to charge phones, cameras or anything like that in the room. They have the charging station in the lounge up at the main area. The service: The staff was wonderful for our short stay. They carried all of our luggage for us and even dusted it off since it was a bit dirty from the dirt road drive in! The staff prepped our breakfast at 5am to allow for us to have an early start for our gorilla trekking adventure! We weren’t there long for us to build much of a relationship with the staff but all were wonderful while we were there. The food: The best pumpkin soup of the trip! Portion sizes were appropriate for breakfast and dinner and our take-away lunch was more than enough food for each of us. All food was tasty, but my husband is still craving that soup a week later! Overall: The lodge has a beautiful view overlooking the forest. They have their own little trail that goes down to a creek and allows for you to take a mini hike on the property. Although part of it is currently under repair, we still enjoyed part of the trail upon arrival. Wi-fi and charging stations at the main lodge are perfect to allow for you to enjoy a cocktail while you hang out for dinner and it also helps you disconnect when you go to your room. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to future travelers who are comfortable disconnecting!

    Exceptional service and breathtaking views!
We were greeted very warmly on arrival by Julius and his team. The main reception area is very stylish with a terrace overlooking breathtaking mountain views. There’s a bar and seating area by the fire which was really cosy in the evenings. Our rooms were separate lodges in the forest. Very well equipped. Tom looked after us extremely well and brought us tea and coffee each morning on our wake up call before our gorilla tracking expeditions. Our beds were turned down each evening with nets carefully placed. There was a good selection of meals each day which were delicious and generously portioned. Our packed lunches were also generous! We felt very much at home at Engagi and no request was too much. The lodge is in a perfect position as it’s minutes away from the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Gorilla tracking and the Main Street in Bwindi. We often visited the Bwindi Bar up the road in the evenings. . A visit to the Batwa tribe is also a must which is a few minutes away. I will definitely stay at Engagi lodge again as we were made to feel so welcome.

Fantastic Lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
A friend and I stayed at this lodge in Bwindi during a gorilla and chimp safari and we highly recommend it. We had our own very comfortable cabin discreetly tucked into a hillside with views of the forest. The common area was built in traditional style, had a lovely dining area and bar with fires lit for the evenings. Service was fantastic, particularly for washing clothes after dusty days. Staff were very friendly and endlessly helpful. We were there on New Years Eve and were served complimentary champagne which was a lovely touch. This lodge is close to sector one of the Park when visiting gorillas and helps to support the local community.

I recently stayed at the Engagi Lodge for an excursion to see the gorillas in Bwindi Forest. Our room smelled, the bedding was stained, the curtains moldy and the room cold. There is no glass covering the screened bathroom window which makes it chilly at night. The staff seemed disinterested and indifferent in their jobs and overall unhappy. The food was ordinary and lousy. We couldn't wait to leave and would not recommend this lodge knowing there are better options out there. Simply a rip off. I wish I had taken photos but was so unimpressed, I chose not to.

Wonderful relaxing stay at Engage lodge. Julius, Tom and Alfred really looked after us during our stay and the service was amazing. Recommend getting the wake up call with a flask of coffee in the morning, this was a lovely way to start our day. Our bedroom was spacious and clean and had a lovely outdoor area to relax. The main lodge was open plan and also had great views of the forest and you can sit and relax and watch lots of birds and monkey's in the forest. The food was lovely and the service great. The location of the lodge is really close to the entrance to the national park so only a short drive in the morning for gorilla trekking. If you have time I recommend visiting the Batwa pygmies of Bwindi, this was a lovely visit to their community and we got to see their culture. The visit also took us to a coffee plantation and to see how banana beer is made. We booked this tour from the hotel and it was an added bonus to our stay.

We found the food and service to be very good, the staff knew our schedule and had our dinner table waiting for us. They cleaned and dried our shoes after our trek which was very nice. The rooms had an incredible view of the forest. Only reason why this place doesnt get five stars is the room was small and a little outdated for the price we paid. Otherwise very much enjoyed our stay. Also very close to the gorila treckking

Amazing, relaxing place to gaze at the Impenetrable Forest and gear up for your gorilla trek. The restaurant is excellent -- fantastic food and atmosphere. The staff and service were also phenomenal, friendly, and attentive. They even offered to wash and dry our muddy shoes for us when we got back from our (unbelievable, life-changing) trek, which was super helpful. Rooms are a bit small and outdated, and easy to accidentally lock yourself inside (?), but we had a great experience overall.

I had a beautiful room overlooking Lake Bunyoni, which is truly a gem! All of the rooms face the lake, there's certainly no bad room. The lodge was very nice, modern, and built sustainably with local materials - very cool experience. We trekked gorillas stationed from the lodge here at Bwindi Impenatrable Forest. When we weren't trekking, the Lodge was a perfect place to relax and hang out. It was so incredibly peaceful at the lodge - truly one of the most beautiful places in the world! I had multiple days with breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided by the lodge and all of the meals were very nice. I felt very safe at the lodge, and all of the staff made sure to help if anything came up. 10/10 recommend staying at the Engagi Lodge when around Bunyoni or Bwindi! Phenomenal experience!

This lodge is NOT AT ALL worth the money. The food is awful - our kids had horrible stomach bug and we all had upset stomach. The breakfast cereal had bugs crawling out of it and the baked fish (which caused the upset stomach) was tougher than leather. The lodge was empty, but they still chose to put us in bad cabins with cracked glass door. After we complained to our travel agent, they finally moved us to a nicer cabin. They offered nighttime room service where they set up the mosquito nets and placed hot water bottles under the sheets This was promptly stopped after the first night ( probably because we complained). For the money they charge, the food and service is very poor. The assistant manager was sleeping everytime we went to the front desk and seemed like he didn’t care. The views are beautiful and some of the staff were courteous, but that’s about it. Do not recommend this place. It’s a 2 star property charging 5 star rates.

We were on a family trip with 10 of us and Julius looked after us brilliantly. Friendly, kind and anticipated our needs before we even asked. We asked about an avocado tree that we could see from the balcony and at the next meal we ate the ripest most delicious avocados I’d ever tasted. At breakfast our boys were fighting over the delicious crispy bacon - and another plate just arrived. Beautiful setting, clean rooms with piping hot water, and delicious and copious food - and great, smiling, kind service - Julius is a star - thank you.

This lodge is fabulous. The dining room opens onto the magnificent Impenetrable Forest. The cabins are beautiful. The food is excellent (and is served with napkins that are folded differently every night!). But best of all is the staff -- after just two nights we felt like family.
