I have been absolutely blown away by the care, understanding, attention and empathy of the staff at Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge. In this time when many travel plans have had to change, I recently had to cancel my reservation (which I literally cried about for weeks since I was so excited about this once-in-a-lifetime trip!). And in this time when other countries have the potential to see an even greater impact than I’m feeling, the Lodge was willing to not only help me cancel my reservations, but re-coup some of my money for the Gorilla Permits. Negotiating with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) on my behalf was certainly something they were not obligated to do, and I am very grateful. But as much as Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge has helped me in recent weeks, I feel like it’s MORE important to share how amazing they were when I organized my trip. I researched long and hard to find the right fit for lodging (and tours). We knew we wanted to go to Bwindi, but which sector to stay in? Which lodge to choose? When writing to Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, I always got a prompt thorough response, often from the owner herself, Lydia Nandudu Mpanga (whose involvement with the local community is amazing). She answered each and every one of my questions over the course of many emails and many months. There are so many offerings which the lodge provides (even beyond the gorilla tours), and my husband and I booked 5 nights so we could hike up gorgeous rivers, go birding with a local expert, and participate in community programs. We were even able to take advantage of the discount for long-term stays (4+ nights). People may think it’s strange to write a review for somewhere I didn’t get to go (YET), but I wanted readers to know that I couldn’t have asked for more in the planning portion of this trip. I CAN’T WAIT to rebook when all of this has passed. Sending all my wishes of health and safety to the staff, community, and of course, the gorillas, in this time. Thank you, Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, for all you’ve already done and for giving me something to look forward to.…
We stayed 3 nights at the Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge in Feb., 2020. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. They would take our meal orders for the next meal while at the present meal plus would adapt the serving times as required. Their wake-up service was appreciated as a staff member would knock on your door with ordered coffee or hot tea. The boot cleaning and clothes washing was very helpful but being in the rain forest, the drying time was lengthy. If you ask the staff, they will start a fire in your cottage fireplace which helps the drying process. At night they put hot water bottles in your bed to make it more comfortable. They have a school group come to sing and dance for the guests. That made the stay even more enjoyable
Beautiful lodge ideally located for Gorilla trekking Staff incredible- special mention to Priscilla personal housekeeper who ensured timely hot coffee and wake up call as well as little messages for perfect sleeping each night 💕 Also a shout out to Elias - fabulous driver with countless knowledge and enthusiasm- he will always be a success🤚🏼
Fantastic stay in this hotel near the gorillas. The service was Impeccable! Our room was perched up high overlooking all the mountains. We came back from our trekking to find notes left in flowers on our beds every day! The massages were amazing and food delicious.
The service of this lodge was going above what we have expected. It started with massages upon arrival, nice briefing in a reception area, all associates being always receptive for any question. The food was good. Variety as expected.
