Detailed Reviews
We arrived in this wooden, cozy lodge with a fantastic view of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and we couldn't believe it was real. After a very warm welcome, we got comfortable on the sofas of the lounge, ordered some beers, and enjoyed the view of the place we were going to look for the gorillas the next morning. The staff was very polite and warm, aware of anything we needed to make our stay an unforgettable experience.
Food was delicious, the rooms clean, spacious and all of them with a view that you could enjoy from your private balcony and a great bathroom with a great shower and a bathtub you must definitely try. They even left a hot water bottle inside your bed with a drink on your bed table for when you went to sleep. They take care of every detail, even offering a complimentary massage for when you come back from trekking and cleaning your shoes full of mud. The whole stay was absolutely fantastic.

Buhoma Lodge was simply exceptional.
We traveled to Bwindi to trek with gorillas, and our experience at the lodge made that unforgettable time even more special.
The beautifully furnished villas are set into a wooded hillside with spectacular views of the forest. They are secluded in comfortable privacy but in close proximity to the cozy shared lounge and dining areas.
The service was friendly yet intimate, personalized in a really great way. We felt welcome and pampered, but they never went over the top. We felt they took a sincere interest in our enjoyment. My husband celebrated a birthday at the lodge where he was feted with a beautiful cake and a special song performed by the team. One night at dinner the power went out but in no time at all candles were lit and the meal went off without a hitch.
We were able to borrow gaiters and rain gear for our gorilla trek, which began within walking distance of the lodge. We also enjoyed the complimentary massage afterward.
Big thanks to Frank, Lavan, Collins and all who made Buhoma Lodge our favorite stop on a two-week African adventure!

Amazing place with an amazing team looking after you. Nothing is too much trouble. The lodges are large and comfortable with everything you need. You feel safe, warm and clean.
We had the nearest lodge which possibly had the benefit of good wifi pick up from the main building but possibly the only one without a view over the far rainforest, but closeness to the main building outweighed any view issue.
The food is excellent. Full English breakfasts fruits, cereals etc. Lunch and dinner are exceptionally good. It's almost a pain to have a good packed lunch for the gorrilla hikes as you miss out on great food.
The staff are so friendly and helpful. The beer is great and you must check out the local gin, excellent!
The lodge is very close to the Briefing Centre for the gorrilla hikes and the village is 5 minutes down the road. You must visit. Friendly sales technique. Go in as many shops as you can. Some are supporting various projects like orphanages or abused women etc.
If you want that special experience visiting the gorrillas made even better, stay here, you will not be disappointed. Thank you to Laura and the team.

A lovely, relaxing place to stay. My sister and I spent three nights here when we did two gorilla treks in Bwindi. The location is perfect as it is very close to the meeting spot for the treks. It is a beautiful lodge with spectacular views of the mountains which are even more dramatic shrouded in fog.
We stayed in one of the larger chalets so we had a sitting area with its own bathroom and then the very spacious bedroom next to the sitting area. There is plenty of room to spread out and hang up all your clothes after a trek. The main bathroom is huge - both a shower and a full size tub. The staff provided a small decanter of sherry each evening when they did turn down service and left a water bottle in the bed so it was nice and toasty when we went to bed. We also had a large covered balcony that ran the entire length of the room. One thing to keep in mind - there were a lot of stairs to go up and down to get to our room. If you don't like stairs then you should ask for one of the rooms with fewer stairs to climb. That said, we didn't mind the stairs because we had a lovely view of the mountains from our balcony.
The staff here is superb - very professional, warm, welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Your clothes and shoes will be thoroughly cleaned after the treks (you may want to wait until after your last trek if you are doing more than one as it can take some time for things to dry). The Lodge has clothing, poles, gaiters etc to borrow if need be. You will also be provided with a box lunch to take on your trek so you don't go hungry.
The food is delicious and plentiful at every meal. My sister and I are vegetarians and there weren't any issues with our meals. You certainly won't go hungry. There are always cookies, coffee, and tea available and if you're lucky, they will bring popcorn to enjoy while you are sitting near the fire.
There is a small gift shop on the ground level of the main lodge which has lots of unique items if you are looking for gifts for yourself or someone else.
Be aware that wifi is only available in the main area and if it's raining or there are low clouds it might not work as the Lodge uses satellite wifi.
I highly recommend Buhoma and I would love to stay here again.

Any property is only as good as their staff. David and his assistant, Frank, exemplify African hospitality. Their entire team is focused on providing an outstanding guest experience in spite of the remoteness of their location. Awesome service. Outstanding food although the menu is limited and fixed. Substantial but simple breakfasts. Good bar. Comfortable central lounge area. Well-tended extensive landscaping. Spacious rooms with copious hot water and good water pressure. Housekeeping staff is professional. Total commitment to covid safety procedures. Good mountain views.

Stayed here in August 2022. Location is very close to the starting point for the Gorilla Cultural Center; within walking distance. I would highly recommend this location, the setting was stunning. The individual and private lodges are part tent and part permanent structure with wood floors. Each tent has their own balcony with chairs which provide an incredible view The tents are large in size and offer a safe. Bed and bedding was comfortable with hot water bottle provided each night to keep the chill off.
Nice wildlife visitors during the afternoons, which included various monkeys and baboons.
Meals were good and they offered adjustments for dietary restrictions. They provided daily delivery of coffee for the AM wake up call. Boots were cleaned by dinner each day and a daily 30 minute massage was included. Laundry services are included.
Only thing that could have been better is that the water temp was difficult to adjust the first day, but once you get the hang of it is it works great. Towel provision was limited for conservation, but manageable.

I am still thinking about this wonderful Lodge, were I felt even better than at home. The magical location and the safari like rooms were amazing, but the best part was the team that looked after us with extreme care and attention to detail. The fire pit and the hot chocolate was always the finishing touch to a day full of adventures.
The chef was incredible, mmm the food I can still taste it. Ah! I must not forget the lady that did the best massage ever, only fault it was too short. Thank you for your smiles and kindness. I cannot wait to be back.

This lodge was amazing, beautiful rooms and bathrooms, the owner Richard and the manager Joshua were fantastic people and offered a great experience for our stay. My girlfriend and I were doing the Gorilla Tracking just a short drive away from this location and we had a wonderful experience, it was honestly the nicest place we had stayed in.
The staff were very attentive and helped us with everything, we would 100% recommend this location to anyone looking to stay close to the forest!
Thank you Richard and Joshua!

Would highly recommend this lodge. Exceeded our expectations. Rhoda the manager and her wider team were simply brilliant. Friendly, efficient and thought of everything. The accommodation is arranged over a succession of timber cabins accessed via stairs and walkways. They are spacious and fun, not luxurious but certainly everything you could need for a few nights. We only stayed two night to do our Gorilla trek and visit the local area but the food was excellent and we would certainly highly recommend to anyone thinking of visiting this area.

I travelled to Bwindi and stayed at Buhoma lodge last month with my wife and two best friends. It was an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone who wants to see the Mountain Gorillas of Uganda.
The lodge is located just inside the park and has gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. The rooms are hut style with an open air main lodge where you enjoy your meals. The staff are amazing and all went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and at home. The food is fresh and delicious and we loved cozying up by the open fire pit with a drink before dinner to share stories with other travelers. The rooms are screened so that you can hear all of the forest sounds and lovely rain storms that come through each afternoon. Beds are comfortable and each night the staff put a hot water bottle in our bed for warmth all night long! After our trek each day, the staff cleaned our boots and gators for us so that we were not a muddy mess for the next day. We also took advantage of the daily massages after trekking. A must after a long hike! We felt like family there and did not want to leave. I highly recommend staying here if you are considering a trek with the gorillas in Uganda

I am sorry I didn't notice one but I am sure they can provide you with one .
There is a Treking center not far from the lodge and it is not a bad walk at all. We also did a trek that was almost a 2 hour drive from there.
Thank you. This is a contact for the lodge. There is an email address for the lodge but I cannot write it here. Website won’t accept it.
There are electrical sockets in the rooms for charging of mobile phones where you will of course have to bring your own universal adaptors. Charging of camera batteries would be alright too. However, hairdryers which are considered to be too powerful an appliance cannot be used as the Lodge is dependent on solar power for its supply of electricity.
