What a great place very well organized. Super briefings for the Gorilla Tracking and additional programs that can be booked on top. Be prepared for early wake ups and wonderful "camp"-fire sit ins. Well stocked Bar for wonderful drinks and cocktails
We were greeted at our jeep with some delicious tree tomato juice and our experience only got better from there. We found that the Buhoma staff were incredibly friendly and eager to assist all guests in whatever way possible throughout our whole stay. Our room was lovely with a beautiful view of the forest and some monkey visitors during the nights. Everything was clean and tidy as well. We quite enjoyed the food, a lot of soups, but they were all delicious. Our guide, Ellis, was amazing and we would highly recommend him. Other information: They provided all of the "extras" we needed for the gorilla trek including a walking stick, gaiters, lots of extra water, and even a backpack! They also clean your shoes after arrival back at the camp, which was something I wouldn't have thought of but turned out to be a great amenity! The day after our trek, we went to Ride 4 a Woman down the road hand had the most amazing day cooking and crafting with the women. We ended up spending about 6 hours there and then returned to Buhoma to relax in the rain. It was perfect and I would highly recommend adding this to your itinerary.…
Our trip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to see the gorillas was headlined by the wonderful Buhoma Lodge. Loved the room with its views. Loved the common area with its views and comforts (and bar). LOVED the service. Don’t want to ruin all the surprises awaiting you but it included drinks, massage post-trek, washing of boots, provision of gators, hot water bottle in the bed are some of the treats in store. The staff were wonderful, especially those we saw most often like Davidson, Winnie, Dan and Collin. And did I mention the food is to die for. I know, this sounds like a fake review, but it’s not. We just had a brilliant time here over 3 nights. See our review for Gorilla trekking for that part.
This lodge was amazing, beautiful rooms and bathrooms, the owner Richard and the manager Joshua were fantastic people and offered a great experience for our stay. My girlfriend and I were doing the Gorilla Tracking just a short drive away from this location and we had a wonderful experience, it was honestly the nicest place we had stayed in. The staff were very attentive and helped us with everything, we would 100% recommend this location to anyone looking to stay close to the forest! Thank you Richard and Joshua!
This lodge is made for gorilla trekking but I’d return just for the views and the experience! The rooms are well appointed and the beds are very comfortable. Nice bathroom with shower and claw foot tub. The staff were amazingly helpful and the post-trek massage is a must!!! Richard and his team in the main lodge provided great service and wonderful food for every meal! They are also very thoughtful and gave me a surprise birthday song, dance and cake! I nearly cried when it was time to leave. This is THE place to stay!!
We stayed at the lodge over two nights while taking the Gorilla Tracking tour, next door to the hotel. There aren't enough words to describe the place. The huts/rooms are sheer beauty. No windows, only nets - you sleep in the jungle, but perfectly safe. The beds are perfect, the bathroom is unique and convenient, the porch looks into an endless forest. the main area is 10-30 steps away, feels like your won living room, except you wish :) Absolute beauty and good taste and comfort. But the main thing about this lodge is the service. The people who work there are actually grateful to be part of the place and are there to serve your every need. You want coffee in bed at 6am before you go to breakfast? Sure. You want a drink at the bar? Sure. At night you get a warm bottle, and a small bottle of port with two little glasses. when you go tracking you get graders that they help you put on. When you return your boots are washed for you. Coffee and tea and cookies are always available. AND IT IS ALL FREE. I am actually pretty sure I've forgotten 7-8 additional "little things" that I vowed to remember, but you get the idea. It is by far the best place I've ever stayed in. An experience to remember. and the Gorillas place is just 200m away.…
Stayed here in August 2022. Location is very close to the starting point for the Gorilla Cultural Center; within walking distance. I would highly recommend this location, the setting was stunning. The individual and private lodges are part tent and part permanent structure with wood floors. Each tent has their own balcony with chairs which provide an incredible view The tents are large in size and offer a safe. Bed and bedding was comfortable with hot water bottle provided each night to keep the chill off. Nice wildlife visitors during the afternoons, which included various monkeys and baboons. Meals were good and they offered adjustments for dietary restrictions. They provided daily delivery of coffee for the AM wake up call. Boots were cleaned by dinner each day and a daily 30 minute massage was included. Laundry services are included. Only thing that could have been better is that the water temp was difficult to adjust the first day, but once you get the hang of it is it works great. Towel provision was limited for conservation, but manageable.…
This was a great place to stay! It’s very close to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where we trekked and observed the silver-back mountain gorilla and family. The lodge has a very cozy African feel, an absolutely wonderful staff and great food. Highly recommend staying at this accommodation.
We absolutely loved our three night stay at Buhoma Lodge. The location could not be better for Buhoma gorilla permits - you are literally steps away from the centre. The property is charmingly rustic but has a luxurious feel to it. It is done to a high standard with local materials consistent with the local style. The main restaurant/lounge area is open to the outdoors. We loved lounging on the couches with a book, a blanket and a cup of tea after our treks. The fireplace is a nice touch. The bedrooms are beautiful and uniquely built into the forest with sublime views. What makes them particularly special are the windows/lack of...! You have mesh (and curtains, of course) instead of glass which protects you from the outdoors but lets in the sounds and soothing smells of the surrounding forest. Due to the consistent climate throughout the year and during night and day it makes for a comfortable experience. The bed is enormous and we thoroughly appreciated the turn-down hot water bottles! The bathroom is big with a great claw-footed tub. The staff were fantastic; incredibly attentive and so warm. Special mention for Onismus who was delightful, though everyone was! We were allocated Martin as a tour guide who was well-informed and thoroughly helpful. He took great care of us on what were some long and bumpy drives! One particularly special element of the Buhoma experience is the complimentary post-trek massage! What a treat! The masseuses were great. We were also appreciative of the shoe-cleaning prior to our departure. The food was homely and delicious. We were extremely well fed. One of us is a pescatarian and we were so pleased with the options. Bosco and his team did the most wonderful job. We will never forget that banoffee pie !! Thank you so much to Buhoma for welcoming us into your special lodge.…
From the moment we were pick up by Benjamin from Wild Frontiers Uganda the adventure began. We stayed for 3 nights in room 1 which was superb with lounge and bedroom and lovely bathroom with view’s into the rain forest from the front deck. Food here is great with tea & coffee brought up to your room with your early morning call. We went on 2 gorilla treks and both fantastic but first one a bit too difficult for us but we survived just.special thanks to the porters couldn’t have done it without your help Simon especially Davidson & Richard and all the team were fantastic , with special thanks to Benjamin your knowledge and driving skills were amazing 👍
