A street café, a glowing fireplace, cobblestones under your feet, Edith Piaf singing in the background. You don't need to go to Paris to experience this. La Provence d'Afrique delivers a French ambience a mere hour out of joburg. We stayed in a quaint little cottage straight out of the French countryside. All the furniture is antique, a beautiful brass... More

What a magical place, Impeccable French style, decor and ambience par excellence, with incredible attention to detail in every room, friendly and attentive staff, beautiful riverside gardens, delicious food, fireplaces, comfy couches, superb wine list. And the antiques .. fountains ... beautiful stained glass windows ... yoga studio ... spa treatments ... friendly dogs ... lovely walks. I could go... More

Was a lovely long weekend, suites are lovely, La Passione - great fireplace! Hosts went out of their way to make you feel at home. Bonus was the awesome yoga studio and class with Karl. Breakfast served by the river were good. Venue does need a upgrade, some areas are looking tacky, but the experience, none the less was excellent.

As we stop they welcome us. They show us around and inform of schedules and times. Was a bit sceptic but overall all something new and not everyday accomodation. French style. nice cafe passage. river breakfast excellent, food nicely prepared and not overdone, portions.

Most disappointing stay. This hotel is more a collection of dilapidated cottages which are in very poor repair. Plumbing is ancient and a person could burn thermselves on exposed piping from the gas water heaters. The main residence is dark (and frankly frightening), with dead branches hanging from the roof and extreme traffic noise all night from trucks on the... More

Good morning --what a pity you didnt adress your conserns to our staff --we are 10 staff thats all around to look after our guests --no mention of home cooked food , fires going, and small details --the exposed copper piping is to help warming bathrooms --any complaints would be looked into immediately! The Bamboo used in the ceiling is... More

From the moment we arrived we had one disappointment to the next. The room is a glorified dungeon that you have to brace down a step ladder into a very dark, neglected and dirty room. The passage we had dinner in was terribly cramped and we had to endure sitting almost next to a couple we didn't know while having... More

From the cold, dark and dingy room, to the broken electric blankets, to the spilling septic tank outside the window, to the leaking pipe that leaves a wet mat sitting in front of the toilet, to the lack of information, to the service that one has to request by cel phone, to the poor breakfast, to the traffic noise..... my... I booked at La Provence in the hope that I would propose to my girlfriend there. They are quick to tell you that they are close to a Forest and lovely stream and 75km away from the big city, but not so quick to tell you they are spitting distance from a VERY busy trucking route. I am not exaggerating... More

A lovely weekend away from the bustle of the city. We were well looked after; our room was pleasant (although rather dark), and the food was great. The setting (the little river, lovely gardens) was tranquil and beautiful.
