I must admit, when I made my booking I was skeptical due to a couple of negative reviews that I had read on trip advisor, but was pleasantly surprised on arrival. The owners Jean and Jack were very welcoming. The atmosphere is home from home. The location is great and close to some of the best beaches in Simons town. There are quaint shops and restaurants to explore and experience within walking distance. Peguine and Boulders beach are both within walking distance. If you go to Cape town on a shoe string budget, this place offers good value. My family and I had a wonderful holiday experience.
After two years I came back to the Topsail house to find out that the kindness and good management of Jack and Jean stand unchanged. Being a solo traveller, I am also sensitive to a warm atmosphere making one feels welcome and at home, and that was the case.
Its a wonderful house with everything you need. Jean and Jack are such a lovely couple who give their best for the guests! The rooms are very clean and you have a lot of space for your own stuff. The house is just a few minutes to go from the town. You can find many good restaurands near from there. And also its absolutly close to the divecenters from simons town. If we coming back once again to simons town, we would go back to that guesthouse! Thanks a lot for everything! We had a great time with you. Greetings from the swiss girls
because it was more convienient for the owners to take on another booking, our secured booking was cancelled and we had to find another place to stay in a rush. very unprofessional business approach. Also the mails wer generally late.
We really enjoyed our stay here, and stayed here twice. The property, set in lovely gardens, is a converted school/convent part way up the hill opposite the naval base. It is traditionally decorated and furnished and the rooms and communal areas are very clean. We stayed in one of the apartments which have an en-suite bedroom and a large kitchen/living/dining area, which are equipped for self-catering . At one stage it must have had great views of the sea but this was obscured decades ago when the navy built an ugly tall tower block almost opposite, but the gardens and visiting birds make up for the lack of sea view. Top Sail is run by a lovely couple and is situated within very easy walking distance of the town with its shops and restaurants as well as ATMs and the town pier from which the trips to seal island leave. Boulders beach and the penguins are a short walk/drive along the shore road. It’s also a short drive to the Cape Point National park. If you have time on the way there or the way back there is a very nice coastal drive between Simon’s Town and Cape Town via Hout Bay and Scarborough.…
