Our return to the Safari camp after a 4 year absence. Great staff, very good food and a clean and well maintained camp. The water pond next to the deck allows excellent viewing of game, we were fortunate to see a breeding herd of elephant there for around an hour before they moved on. No ways will we be waiting another four years before returning to the Safari Camp.
My mum and I had an amazing stay at LSC in March 2020. The staff were so accomodating and knowledgable, the food was delicious yet simple, the safaris were incredible, and the sunsets were unforgettable. It truly was a trip of a lifetime.
Had the pleasure of staying in the dorms at Liwonde Safari Camp overnight and loved every minute of it. There were 4 of us girls and found it to be the best deal at 15$ a night with access to large individual showers, washrooms close by and a mother load of books for your reading pleasure. The piece de resistance were the animals who munched right outside the hut at night and an elephant who came to feed right before supper. So close we could almost touch him. The game safari was excellent with the guide quite knowledgeable about all the wildlife in the park and we got to see our fill of elephant families out in the open. The boat safari taken mid afternoon was perfect timing for us as we saw rhinos aplenty and even a sneak peek of elephants too. Highly recommended for a safari in Malawi. …
Now run by Africa Parks about 4 hours drive from Lilongwe.Really good value if you want a backpacker style safari, helpful staff, good food, nice bar area. A good selection of game to view both in the park and the Shire river.
The safari itself was excellent. Lots and lots of elephants and hippos, and even some lions. The facility was very good. Good food. Loved the showers and our platform tent was perfect. The staff were not as friendly as they have been at other places we stayed. I hope they're being treated well.
