I have been popping down to the Boonah area for years to walk and climb in the mountains. I often stay at Mt Barney Lodge as it beautiful and well-run. My last visit was by accident. My friend and I had hiked in to a campsite in the adjacent national park, only to find we had no matches for the... More

We camped with perfect weather, great informative staff who knew all the hiking trails and more. We will be going back a couple more times this year to do more hiking within 10 km of the lodge, it will be our base camp because all the amenities are there and the staff are great.

We only use the camp ground, the is plenty of room to spread out. The amenities block is well maintained with fresh flowers on the vanity top. Plenty of wildlife about, I managed to get a photo of a wallaby with a joey in the pouch. It's the closest you can camp to Mt Barney's east side.

Been 4 times this year 2016, and always come back. Why? I love the toilet block, it's clean, perfect, with the softest toilet paper. Really no joking, along with the cutoff to 100 guests you come into Mt Barney Lodge (campsites) and Tracey and Innes have created a very private and comfortable place for you to set up tent. Having... More

From arriving at reception, we met Tracy, she was very welcoming, and nothing too much trouble, as so was an other lady we met. We had the on site camper trailer, and where very pleasantly surprised, every thing you need, was in there. Cutlery, crockery, pots , pans cups glasses, even a mosquito coil and matches. Gas cooker, even a... More

Thanks for your review Chrisste :) It sounds like the camper trailers did tick your boxes! If you have never stayed with us before you may not have realized that the outdoor paving in the annex is brand spanking new, and upgrades this facility from a shadecloth floor to the paved look. We are always trying hard to identify what... More

It was one step up from glamping. No indoor toilet. We had to use the amenities block next door. Only 6 pieces of timber to heat the place up. It was freezing. You had to bring your own sheets otherwise an extra charge of $40 per person. We had already paid $150. The kettle was a a 1950's whistling kettle... More

Thanks you for sharing your impressions with us Ian. Looking at your photo, I think you chose to book Henrys Hut - which is one of our budget cabin options. Your feedback gave me the opportunity to audit how guests are advised of the building layout and inclusions/exclusions. Re the external amenities: - At the time of booking we explain... More

With gorgeous views, stunning walking trails and creeks to explore, and the friendliest staff you'll ever meet, what's not to love about Mt Barney Lodge Country Retreat? We camped just recently and absolutely loved the environment, and the eco-friendly initiatives taken by the owners is so refreshing! We'll be back :)

Thanks for choosing to stay with us Allison. We try really hard to make our eco-actions obvious, but also everyday and accessible .... so that just maybe our guests will take a few bright ideas home with them too. Fantastic place to stay with a large group. We stayed in their awesome Homestead and found it really well set-up with all the comforts of home in an immaculately presented manner. The whole group had a great time enjoying the walks, the wildlife and the warm fire. Definitely worth considering. Love your work Tracey and Innes.

Thanks for staying with us Josh - given the size of the group you must have stayed in Moringararah Homestead (it can accommodate up to 15 people). Thanks for mentioning the quality of your stay - we do try hard to be top notch with a homestead that is over 100 years old ;) More

Settling into my cabin, beneath impressive Mt Barney, shrouded by a gorgeous mackerel sky was like returning to a place well loved. The peace and tranquility with-in was rudely interrupted by anxious stirrings of self doubt during our initial lecture. Foreign concepts of northerlings, contour lines and romers spun in my lazy brain. With passion and patience Innes masterfully demonstrated,... More

Thanks for your poetic review Deb. I'm only too happy to share Innes (my husband and co-owner of Mt Barney Lodge) with these 2 1/2 day navigation training groups, as it is his passion and he genuinely loves sharing his knowledge with people who want to learn. I've lost count of the number of times I have seen contour lines... More

This was our first visit to Mt Barney Lodge and what a pleasant surprise it was. The location is stunning, the camping ground is grassy and well cared for, the amenities are clean and the staff were always friendly and helpful. I like that they cap the number of people at any one time, so it never gets overcrowded. Kids... More
