In addition to being located on a hill, the ocean-facing room had a great view of Matsushima Bay, and the view from the window looked like a picture in a frame, so I cheered when I first stepped inside. We were blessed with good weather and were able to see the sunrise from our room, which was very moving.
The bath was heated, but the water was hot, and the view from the open-air bath was great, so it was liberating and comfortable to bathe in.
I booked a package with the Shinkansen and stayed for two nights, and chose the seafood buffet for meals. I couldn't choose a different buffet when I booked, so I chose seafood both days, but the menu was the same for both days (the type of grilled fish and the sushi sashimi were slightly different, but the rest was the same. The radish garnish was longer than spaghetti, so it was quite difficult to separate). The breakfast menu was exactly the same every day. If they offer a multiple-night plan, I think they should have been considerate to guests staying multiple nights, such as asking something or at least alternating between two plans.
Also, since the second night was a weekday and there were few guests, the staff did not seem to replenish the food or provide guidance. (The seafood porridge on the second day had ingredients but was mostly plain porridge and tasted quite simple.)
When I checked out, there was an earthquake while I was sleeping, and the Shinkansen was suspended from early in the morning, but there was no conversation that took these feelings into consideration, and I felt disappointed that I did not feel any hospitality or consideration overall. The building was kept clean, the lobby was spacious, and the location was very good.

You can see the sea of Matsushima from the front desk.
This time, I got a room on the mountain side of Shoinkaku.
It was a Japanese-Western style room, but there were two futon beddings called "beds" on the Japanese side.
The flooring side had a sofa.
The large window of the room overlooks the Tohoku Main Line.
It is a double track and there are a reasonable number of trains running.
In the past, Hatsukari and sleeper express trains ran on this route, but now only local and freight trains run on this route.
You can also hear the sound of trains running on the Sengoku Line.
The public bath is located on the first floor.
The open-air bath has a view of the sea.
Also, you can see the Sengoku Line through the forest.
It is not a hot spring, but you can stretch your legs and soak slowly.
Unfortunately, there is no sauna.
The meal was a seafood buffet at a restaurant called Isogo.
The engawa was delicious.
It was also only on Saturday, but the big fried shrimp left a lasting impression.
The seats were compartmentalized so that the family could have a quiet conversation and eat.
Breakfast is different place and tidey.
There was a big window, but the morning sun seemed to be dazzling, and the blinds were lowered, so I couldn't see Matsushima Bay or the garden.
There was a patrol bus service and I put my car in the parking lot and had it picked up and dropped off at Matsushima Bay.
I thought this was a very convenient service because I didn't have to find a parking lot.

From the very beginning, all staff were an absolute delight, and very kind with putting up with our poor-to-nonexistent Japanese!
The panoramic views from our ocean view rooms made it very hard to leave. Rooms were also hugely spacious and very comfortable, although the firmness of Japanese pillows does take a little getting used to!
The buffet breakfast and dinners were absolutely delicious, with a very wide variety. This kept everyone very happy (and full!).
There is an onsen, if you're game. We were too timid on a busy weekend.
The courtesy bus into town/train station made arrival/departure and exploring the township very comfortable and easy.
Would 100% recommend visiting.

The spectacular views aren't the only thing this inn is recommended for. The accommodation plan we chose included a "Japanese-style seafood buffet" dinner, which is also recommended. As the name "seafood" suggests, there was a wide variety of sashimi and nigiri sushi, which were fresh and delicious, but the steaks were also made with good quality meat and were delicious.

There was no welcoming service. The parking lot was large and easy to park. The front desk staff was very helpful. We received a guide to the hotel at the front desk and moved to our room. At that time,
we carried our luggage to the room by ourselves and there was no guidance. The building feels old, but it was well-cleaned and clean.
The room faces the sea and has a good view. Since it is on the east side, you can see the sunrise. Great👍
For the buffet, we chose Japanese-style seafood. It was comfortable because it was separated by partitions. The live fish, tempura, grilled food, fried food, salad, and fruit were all delicious😋
The morning buffet was also very delicious.
There was an ice machine on each floor, which was very convenient.
You can also put drinks you bought in the refrigerator, so it's great value for money.
All the water in the bath is boiled water, but I don't feel anything at all and it doesn't feel inconvenient. Maybe it's because the way it warms you up is different or the effects are different ^_^
It was a great hotel.

It was through YouTube's Kubotabi that I learned about this hotel,
All-you-can-eat seafood was recommended on YouTube, so I made a Reservation for this hotel by that choice,
I checked into the hotel and immediately went to my room, the Reservation was Japanese-Western style room with a bed by the side of the tatami living room, the room was large and had a panoramic view of Matsushima Island with three views of Japan from the window,
However, since the room is on the 3rd floor and the shared facilities on the 1st and 2nd floors overhang, the planting and handrailing of the roof balcony, which cannot be accessed outside, seemed to disturb the view.
After that, I went to the public bath, but it was a Reservation knowing that it was boiling water, but again, I think the biggest bottleneck of this hotel is that there is no hot spring, the view from the open-air bath is good, so I wanted to take a bath while at least watching the view of the corner,
After bathing, the long-awaited dinner,
The good thing is that on YouTube, the tuna used for sushi and sashimi was yellowfin tuna, whereas on the day it was this tuna (I thought there would be no repeat without it).
What wasn't good was that there were oysters on YouTube but none on the day, which my wife was quite sorry about.
Also, there was something like a flounder figure, and I felt like I ate nothing but bones because I was small.
Also, as other reviews say, there is no seafood at all in the morning, but if I was staying at Orikaku Matsushima, I wanted something seafood.

We were travelling for a special birthday, and the hotel kindly gave us a bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate, which was a lovely touch!
The onsen (sento) was quite an experience. It is separate for men and women, and has a beautiful outdoor pool with views over the bay, which is highly recommended!
We had a Mountain View room, but this didn’t detract from the enjoyment at all.
There is not really a bar to have pre-dinner drinks, but there is a gift shop which sells beer and wine to enjoy in your room.
Overall, it was a great experience and we’d highly recommend it to all travellers!
But the seats we were ushered into weren't good for Fauci's dinner or breakfast.
He was a male staffer.
When I arrived at the restaurant, there were lots of empty seats in the rattle, but I was led all the way to a seat in the back that was not very good, and I didn't really enjoy it as there were many people around me who spoke loudly, mostly elderly people.
I wanted to sit wherever I wanted, as long as there were no seats available.
It was a disappointing anniversary.
It was a bit disappointing in total.
"It is possible to walk to it from the station, but the last part is rather steep, and involves crossing a main road."Read full review
