Nestled directly across from the Petra entrance, Mövenpick Resort Petra charms guests with its traditional design and tranquil ambiance. The resort's pristine cleanliness and array of amenities, from varied dining choices to the delightful chocolate hour, consistently impress visitors. While the rooms earn praise for their comfort and cleanliness, there are some calls for updates and better air conditioning. Guests celebrate the attentive and warm service provided by staff, although opinions on value are divided, with some criticism levied at the pricing of extras. Overall, its prime location remains a highlight for those exploring Petra.

Spent 3 nights here on a 12 day tour of Jordan in room 326.. Because of it's location right near the entrance to Petra it is very popular and usually busy with guests early morning and early evening. We had a very enjoyable stay there made better by the quality of the hotel staff and the nice breakfasts. Good quiet room and comfortable as one would expect with Movenpick Hotels enjoying four of them during our tour with Joules Verne. Situated 3 minutes from the entrance to Petra and close to the museum made it very convenient to be able to come and go when required. If we returned to Petra which we may well do because it was amazing we would not hesitate in returning to this hotel.

We had a executive room which had everything you need but was clearly worn, needs some updating. Lessons learned when you check in ASK for lots of extra bath towels because every time you shower water will go all over the floor due to the design, I assure you there will be a mess! The sink area is nice, but you can only use half the sink area due to the bidet being right next to the sink. If you want a king, ask for the two twins to be out together. If you want more than a bag of chips and a few colas, ask them to stock the mini fridge area. The staff was really nice, the restaurant for dinner, bar, and the breakfast was great. The hotel was really nice overall, so close to the entery to Petra!

Dear Wanderer0213, Thank you for giving us the time to write a review on TripAdvisor. I am happy to know that you enjoyed your stay in our hotel and found it convenient to visit the historical site of Petra. I am also delighted that you shared good comments about our staff, bar, and food. It is such a great encouragement to our team. However, I am saddened to know that your recent stay was marred with some issues in your room. Kindly know that presently our second stage of guest room renovations have commenced and trust that our guests will take great pleasure in the augmented level of quality and ambiance. Again, thank you for giving us a positive review. I hope to welcome you back to Petra in the future. Sincerely, Armin Weller Hotel Manager

If you are planning a trip to the ancient Nabataean city of Petra (Raqmu), the World Heritage site that many travelers consider one of their "bucket-list" destinations, this may be the place you want to book for a few nights. You are three hours from Amman and two hours from Aqaba, so you'll want at least a couple of nights to see the truly breath-taking and raw beauty just across the street from this hotel. Rooms are clean and well-appointed and the center of the lobby is gorgeous. The buffet is remarkable, catering to European/North American expectations and also offering some more local cuisine, and there are other options for dining as well. We found the use of water in pools and bathrooms a bit off, given the desert location (although Movenpick promises to be working toward sustainability) and they are a bit on the pricey side, but other than that can recommend the place to those looking for an excellent hotel ridiculously close to one of the most stunning places on the planet!

We arrived at the Movenpick at the end of a long day touring Aman. We were with a large group touring, and within a few minutes, a very efficient hotel staff had us all checked in and preparing for a lovely buffet dinner in their dining room. Our room was spacious, very clean and modern, and had a nice view. The thermostat worked (a pleasant surprise after several other hotel stays with no temperature control). Breakfast was outstanding. Murad, the breakfast manager, did a phenomenal job with a diverse selection that was both visually appealing and tasty. Great stay!!

My daughter and I visited Petra and thanks to our friend's recommendation, stayed at this beautiful hotel. Although there are less expensive hotels all around Petra, this is walking distance to the entrance of Petra and delicious breakfast buffet is included. We had a wonderful dinner at the beautiful roof top restaurant. It felt like we went back in time and were surrounded by the ancient city. It was a magical moment.

We visited Petra and this hotel was the natural choice of stay for us because of the convenient location - bang opp the Petra Visitors Centre - which is the gateway to the Petra Complex for all visitors.

The Hotel was well furbished in Traditional decor - right from lamps and chandeliers to statues and wall hangings. All these give a very royal and traditional look to the Hotel.

The Hotel had lots of good restaurants though we couldn't enjoy all of them. We did had dinner in one of them, but the quality of food was not up to our expectations.

The rooms were OK in size and the AC was effective. Though we found it very inconvenient and difficult to sleep when they switched off the AC in the middle of the night. Maybe to save some power ??

The biggest pro of this resort is that it is situated right outside the entrance of Petra. Given the hoards of people that visit Petra, the location can be an added advantage as one can reach the gate in 5 mins after a quick early breakfast at the resort. The breakfast spread here was great and the atmosphere was nice too.

You can also buy passes for Petra by Night directly from the reception.

We stayed at the Movenpick Petra for two nights in early October, arriving fairly late in the evening, having flown into Amman that afternoon from Luxor. Check-in was efficient if not a bit impersonal. We did not get offered the welcome drink that others have written about, for instance.

The room itself was clean and updated. Our view was of the small pool and nearby buildings, which is not a big deal as we were out of the room most of the time anyway. Believe this helped make the room nice and quiet. Some rooms looked like it overlooks an inner courtyard, where guests gather for drinks and food and their voices tends to float to the upper levels so I'm not sure if those rooms hear the noise.

The breakfast was quite good. Servers brought around drinks, including juice and coffee and tea, and you got the rest of your food at the buffet, where servers provided assistance. The made-to-order omelets were very good. The servers were all very friendly and helpful.

As others have said, the location cannot be beat. The hotel is located literally right outside the main entrance of Petra. We were able to get an early start and stayed in the park most of the day, and simply walked across the street into and out of the park. Great to be one of the first to arrive and then just get right back to our room after a long day of trekking in the sun (but totally worth it).

A very nice hotel that could very easily have taken advantage of its location and offered a subpar product, but thankfully, does not do so and places importance on its guests and their comfort. Definitely recommend!

Across from the hidden valley entrance to the "Treasury" of Petra, this hotel is easy walking to the Museums and you can save your energy for the nine miles of wonder in the ruins. The rooms are modern and clean with great service. The buffet is modern international for all meals. As in many Muslim countries, alcohol is extra expensive, but available in Jordan, beer being the best value.

Location and Impeccable Room Service!

Warm welcome from Ayman who offered us a complimentary upgrade and welcome drink upon arrival and check-in.

The luxury and location of this hotel make it a no-brainer for choice of hotel in Petra. After walking 25km throughout the day and night in Petra, the sight of the Movenpick hotel right by entrance/exit makes you thank god you picked this hotel.

Room service was just impeccable. Fastest I have experienced from any 5 star or luxury standard hotel. At times I had just put the phone down and a minute later they were at the door.

Beautiful dining area and very good breakfast.

As we were going to visit Petra for a second day and heading to Aqaba later in the evening, Ahmad.A was very kind to offer us a late checkout which made us feel very comfy during our stay at the hotel.

Special thanks also to Waleed who was very helpful with assistance at the hotel and giving up tips for our time in Petra.
