Stayed for two nights. Rooms are nice and clean, only bad side is that it is hard to adjust the right water temperature in the shower. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations and organizing transport and event made us breakfast before time so we can eat before catching bus early morning. Great place!

in Petra, everything is more expensive compared to other parts of Jordan. hotels not excluded. Shaqilath is one of the more affordable hotels around. room is basic and comfortable. but note that this hotel is about 10 min walk downhill to Petra, but takes longer to return to since you have to climb back the hill after a long tired day at Petra. I just ended up driving - which defeats the purpose of getting a hotel within walking distance to Petra in the first place. as for the shower, the previous reviewer was right. it takes 5 min for the water to become warm and by then there' are a lot of water wasted. another thing is there are lots of hard sells for meals and tours from the hotel staff. i wish the hotel could tone that down a little considering tourists already have a lot of solicitations to deal with when visiting the petra site (and certainly dont look forward to hearing more when concluding the day).

Basic small hotel with 12 rooms. Located in a quiet area. No street noises, rooms soundproof (at least we haven't noticed other guests). 10min walk only to the Petra Visitor Center. Shower was very weak and it took about 5 minutes until hot water was available which was boiling hot then in fact. Adjusting this to normal temperatures was a hard task - moving the regulator just a millimeter resulted in either freezing cold or boiling hot water. A/C was doing its job (cooling and heating without noticeable noises). TV with hundreds (!) of channels - but mainly arabic ones. (CNN and BBC alongside with a handful of other international stations were available) Wifi is available for free and was fast and relieable. Not all powersockets in room were usable (defect). Bed was on the softer side but still comfy. Parking is available for free and is located directly at the hotel (other side of the street) Breakfast is served as buffet and is sufficient. Scrambled egg, omlette is being prepared on request. Had dinner for one evening. Huuuge plate of rice with chicken. We ordered for 2 persons but you can easily feed 3 or 4 persons with the ammount of food that was served. (Price was 10JD each). Staff is amazing and very friendly. Gave good recommendations, always with a amile on their face. Checkin and checkout were fast and without problems. All in one a good simple hotel which could need some renovation here and there (especially the shower situation should be fixed). Recommended for one or two nights if you just need a bed to visit Petra.

My husband and I were so looking forward to coming to Jordan. We were at the airport in Egypt ready to check in and we’re told that Jordan banned all flights coming from Egypt so our ticket to go to Jordan was voided. We called the hotel right away given that they are located there and we were sure that they, “OFF ALL PEOPLE,” would understand our situation. The man on the phone INSISTED there was No ban and said they couldn’t give us a refund. We sent them a copy of the ban coming from the ACTUAL AIRLINE WEBSITE along with the link. The man on the phone said, “you woke me up from my sleep”, sounding so irritated. I mean, what the heck is going on? I’ve never had to deal with such unprofessional people. We called again the next day and they kept insisting that the ban starts 2 days later (which does not apply for us, because we are coming from Egypt and the ban on Egypt was done immediately). I don’t know if they have uneducated people working there or what. We were planning to rebook once all of this Coronavirus calms down, but I will never book with this place, “EVER”. Long story short... hotels.com still gave us our refund; because clearly, they know how to read and keep up with the news. You will get a good grasp of professionalism given these situations and the lack there of of this establishment is beyond me. ALL of the hotels we booked from in Jordan gave us a full refund with no questions asked EXCEPT for this HORRIBLE place. Book with caution, I felt compelled to write this review to warn all of you about this place. I’m so glad there was a travel ban, I can only imagine how there are in person.

I was uncertain whether I should give 3, 4 or 5 stars. Everything was fine, but staff was very pushy to try to convince us to have dinner there (the best food in the country, apparently), and also to use their taxi driver with insurance for 20 JD more than we would have paid elsewhere. Just be assertive and get things done your way. Overall, I think they deserve 4 stars. Hotel was fine, breakfast was average, and room was fine too. Can improve on service a little bit, then 5 stars would be appropriate. Very expensive for what it is, but here you pay for the location.
