The guesthouse is not a luxury property although it is simple and clean and the staff were pretty good. Although we had been told there we could only have a room with a shared bathroom when we booked through our agent on arrival we were offered the chance to upgrade. When we arrived the place was in a cloud so we could see nothing but were grateful for the heating that worked well. The evening meal was pretty good - a nice selection of traditional dishes. Served quite early and there is nothing else to do after it's dark. In the morning the mists had cleared and we could see the view down through the valley. Highly recommend the walk down it takes around 5-6 hours with a local guide. Breakfast was the only disappointment - really leftovers from the night before and instant coffee! Really we had to show the Italians how to use the stuff - neither they or us were impressed. For a country that loves its coffee that was just lazy.…
We stayed at Dana Guesthouse on our first night in Jordan. We were able to catch the beautiful sunset from the terrace of the property. The rooms are simple and comfortable. They have heat and hot water which is needed for the cold nights. The reception and staff are hospitable and friendly. Dinner was also great, with many options.
Food was incredibly good for such a remote area. Reception was incredibly helpful and informed with good English. Rooms warm and toasty in December. From what I could see the view was incredible. The surrounding area of hotels around Dana were dismal surrounded with squalor. Prepare yourself to see this in order to find the trail down through the wadi.
This is a nice place perched on top of the mountain. I really liked it. The view here is amazing...especially at sunset..however dinner was ok and we were charged 56Jod for 3 kids and 2 adults, which I thought was a little bit expensive but breakfast could definitely do with some improvements. It was quite clean and the staff was nice, too. What was strange was that the receptionist was telling the guests different things upon payment. We paid by credit card and then the next people, she insisted on cash and only cash... I wanted to tell them, we paid by credit card. Anyway, she seemed to be on her mobile phone the whole time. But otherwise, it was quite nice.
We initially booked a standard room online, but were luckily able to pay the difference to stay in the deluxe room with the ensuite bathroom upon arrival. The reception seems a bit disorganized, but we didn't encounter any major issues. Food was fine, and we appreciated the availability of filtered water coolers and the nice tea in the sitting area. There were mosquitos in our room, so bring bug spray! The view from the shower is amazing as advertised, but be sure to put the drain cover back when you're done, otherwise there will be a faint sewer smell.
