I'd been to Dedo Pene a couple of times in the past during ski trips to Bansko. This trip was in May and with friends. It did not dissapoint. Firstly remember it is 2 star accomodation but it does feel a lot better than that. The cost is superb, £37 for 2 nights in a double room and breakfast included. The room was clean and spacious with the only downside the fact that the bathrooms have showers that do not include shower cubicles or curtains, so the whole bathroom gets wet when you showrr. Other than that there were no issues. The Tavern is so quirky and interesting and the food was great. In May it was quiet and very relaxed and the owners sat talking to us and sharing their wine in the inn as we drank beer and played board games. Even though this was the cheapest acocmodation we had during our week's holiday it's the one that we will remember the longest. Definitely recomend this for both accomodation and food…
I can’t fault this hotel one bit, I came here with 5 other fiends and we were treated so well. Breakfast is included and is delicious. They have people that change the beds every day so after a day skiing we would always get into a clean bed. The gondola up the mountain is about a 15 minute walk away down one straight road. There are loads of nearby shops, restaurants and bars although the food and drink in the restaurant of Dedo Pene was absolutely brilliant. We ate and drank there a lot (would recommend the lamb shoulder for 2). Prices are cheap which is an added bonus. They even provided us with lunch for our transfer to Sofia Airport. It was a really pleasant stay and if I go skiing to Bulgaria again, I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again :)
I recommend for a pleasant dinner. Tge service is great, the food also. For sure I ll be back:) It s a family business and they are really warm with customers. You should try the homemade fries with feta cheese
We stayed in Dedo Pene on our much looked forward to trip to Bansko. We were greeted by Pene who gave us (3 of us including my sister) a glass of wine on arrival which was a lovely touch. The accommodation is very quaint in a lovely way. Wood burners in rooms with great heat and very clean. Breakfast included which we thoroughly enjoyed. Would have no problem staying here again and the location is excellent-right in the heart of the old town.
We spent 3 nights here in February, the rooms were warm, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast was cooked on request. The people that work/own this quaint hotel make it the place it is, they went out of their way to ensure we had the most pleasant of stays. I would recommend and would stay here again without a doubt.
Very unpleasant and inadequate service. They practically tried to get rid of us when we just got in, to put a bigger group on our table. The waiters were slow, a lot of stuff from the menu couldn't be ordered. I would not recommend this place.
Fantastic Heidi style room with the stairs going up from a beautiful outside dining courtyard. The owner is very hospitable and welcomed us with a glass of outstanding locally produced red wine (a must try wine) ! Quaint features everywhere you turn, positioned next to the church in the old town square. After here we travelled to a newer hotel as part of our two centre stay, to see The Old Town and experience spa treatments etc at 'The St George Palace' which is about an 8 min drive in a taxi from the side of the church next to the Dedo Pene Inn. We will be back next year, as this trip is a 'must repeat trip'. Cheap Beer £1 a pint bottle, coffee and cake in a cafe £1.50 total cost !
From the outside the entrance is a bit uninspiring but as soon as you walk through to the interior courtyard you are in for a traditional Bulgarian experience. We were seated in the middle and talked through the menu stressing the traditional fare. The food was excellent. The ambiance was Cosy but no feeling of crowding. There is plenty to look at and absorb whilst waiting for the meal. Altogether a lovely dining experience.
We stayed here for 3 nights for New Year's and I can truly say that, after looking around for the other hotels, Dedo Pene Inn was the best I could have chosen. Location could not be better: right in the amazing old town, quiet but still so close to the main street in Bansko. It is far though from the ski slopes but one has to make that choice while in Bansko: stay either in the authentic fairytale-like old town or closer to the slopes! Rooms are big, comfortable, traditional, cozy and quaint. Bathroom and shower are very good and interesting as one showers right in the bathroom as there is no shower cabin or corner! Breakfast and New Year's dinner were very good. This is exactly where I would stay again if I went back! And I am surprised this hotel is not higher on TA!!!! As I usually target the hotels on the first places on TA ....well....it appears that is not always relevant!!!!…
You should try the mushroom soup and the desert 'banica s lokum'. The staff is very friendly. The decoration is old school style and make you feel as if you are visiting some friends. And last but not least, the prices are far better than most of the near by restaurants.
